My Mind's Eye Chalk Studio The Sequel

I am so excited for today's post. I love seeing the different ways our Design Team has been able to use My Mind's Eye Chalk Studio. Today we have some awesome projects from Sara Case Strickland. Sara is a trooper and turned around these projects in a jiffy while staying cozy warm in her snow-filled Canadian home.

Happy, happy Friday! And let me tell you, with today’s Steal, it really is a happy Friday!

I was so excited when the My Mind’s Eye Chalk Studio kit showed up in my mailbox – I love the chalkboard trend and couldn’t wait to play with it a bit.

Most of the time I wouldn’t consider myself a cardmaker but I love scrapbooking on 8.5”x11” paper and I love the smaller print found on 6x6 papers so card kits and collections work really well for me. With the goodies from today’s steal I decided to go “off the page” and make two projects – a mini album and a display tray.

My children are 4 and 6 and although they love to look through my scrapbooks their hands have a hard time handing the bulk and size of a 12x12 album. Because of that, I have found myself making more and more mini albums. The one I made from the Chalk Studio line is a brief overview of my daughter’s 2013 year.

The base is recycled cardboard and a couple of pages are folded over paper to form pockets.

I simply resized my pictures, ran a 70’s action over them, and added the month with letter stickers once they were in the album.

Super easy but my daughter loved it when I tucked it into her lunch bag as a surprise. If you want to see the full album, check it out here at my Flickr Gallery.

The next thing I made was a small 7 Gypsies display tray. My brother and his wife are expecting their first baby and I’m thrilled! So I made her a little décor piece to put in her room. I left the middle space empty so a picture could be added once she’s born.

I added some wood veneer hearts and coloured them with a red Wink of Stella pen:

And made sure everything had lots of dimension:

Unfortunately, I ran out of time to make anything else for this post but you can be sure that I’ll be playing with the Chalk Studio line again soon. For starters, I need to make a mini album for my son!
