After dozens and dozens of awesome applications, we are excited to announce our new Design Team! It was so hard to choose we couldn't narrow it down to just three. We know you will all enjoy the upcoming creations from:
Kristina McKeen, Charissa Miller, Sarah Strickland, Jessica Arrant, and Wendi Robinson!
We asked them a few questions so you all could get to know them a little better and have included photos of some of their favorite projects. Sit back, relax, and meet the design team after the jump!
Meet Kristina McKeen!
Where do you live? I’m in Fairview Heights, IL – about 15 miles east of St. Louis.
What is your favorite thing to make? I love making scrapbook layouts (thanks SS for the MWM series…you got me started there!). In the last year, I have really gotten into home décor projects too. It is fun to look around the house and see the fun projects I have made.
Do you have kids? I have 2 wonderful balls of energy – Kevin, age 6 and Hailey, age 3.
If you could travel anywhere (and scrapbook it) where would you go? Europe – specifically Great Britain and Denmark.
What is your favorite scrap collection? Really, Melodee, I have to pick just one?!? That is SOOOO hard for me. There are so many wonderful collections out there. Did I mention it is really hard to choose one? But if you force me, I would say Crate Paper’s Peppermint Twist since I use it for 90% of my Christmas layouts…and it works great for non-holiday layouts too.
If you were locked in a room and forced to scrapbook, what tool would you have to have and why? I would love to have a Cameo (I don’t have one). I love the looks of the die cuts that come from the Silhouette store. But really, locked in a room and forced to scrapbook, I don’t think so…being locked in a room to scrap would be a dream!
Meet Charissa Miller!
Where do you live? I live in the sunny Sonoran Desert of Arizona. You live here for the fall, winter, and spring, but the summer is something else!
What is your favorite thing to make? I definitely mostly do 12x12 scrapbook pages, but I have a very special place in my heart for my Project Life albums and that weekly project. Something very special about getting our weeks documented in one place to look back on.
Do you have kids? Two little girls – 4 and 17 months and one husband. You will see a lot of them in the coming months, because they are by far my absolute favorite scrapbooking subjects!
If you could travel anywhere (and scrapbook it) where would you go? My bucket list of where to travel has lots of places on it, but Japan is the one I hope to hit next and the one I am most excited to do someday!
What is your favorite scrap collection? Oy, this is kind of like asking me who is my favorite child?!? Not a fair question at all. But if I have to choose, Glitz Design Uncharted Waters. I just adore the patterns, the colors, the distressed look … well all of it!
If you were locked in a room and forced to scrapbook, what tool would you have to have any why? This may seem obvious, but my scissors. I use them to cut apart embellishments, to trim papers – I’m never too concerned about straight edges. In a pinch, they also work for placing those tiny letters and embellishments instead of a craft knife!
Meet Sarah Strickland!
Where do you live? I’m thrilled to be living on a very foggy island in Canada. Newfoundland is a tiny province and we’re oddly proud to have our very own time zone (it’s half an hour off everyone else). As a Canadian, I also believe colour should be spelled properly, with a “U!"
What is your favorite thing to make? I go through stages but right now I love to make mini books. I don’t always love to finish them, or even put anything in them at all, but I love to make them and play with new techniques on the pages. Plus, they’re the perfect sizes for my kiddos!
Do you have kids? I have 2 – Molly is 6 and Gabe is 4. Life is….interesting around here with those ages running around!
If you could travel anywhere (and scrapbook it) where would you go? My dream trip was New Zealand and I was lucky enough to do that with my mom. If I could go somewhere I’ve never been it would have to be Africa. Or Australia. Or Italy. Maybe Greece. Or…
What is your favorite scrap collection? How do you narrow that down?!? Hmmm, I loved the old Night Light collection from October Afternoon (I’m still hoarding monster paper!), and Basic Grey’s Phoebe line. I’m also still in mourning over the demise of Scenic Route – loved everything they designed!
If you were locked in a room and forced to scrapbook, what tool would you have to have and why? I’m going to go out on a limb and assume basics (paper, adhesive, journaling pen, scissors) would be there and if so, then I would pick Ranger Distress Inks. They are so versatile that I could get hundreds of looks and do loads of techniques with just those and a bit of water.
Meet Jessica Arrant!
Where do you live? I live in Columbia, MO. The best thing about this college town (other than that we are now in the SEC) is that we are totally day-trip distance from Kansas City and St. Louis which leaves me with so many places to explore (and shop!).
What is your favorite thing to make? My favorite project is a one page layout, on a bummer day I can sit down with a paper kit and knock a simple one out in a short time. I like that I can be one and done, and after finishing I just feel so.much.better! For a long time the only other thing I made was cards, using up all those scraps I’d generated. Recently I’ve been adding a lot more mini albums to my repertoire and trying my hand at mixed media techniques both on and off the page.
Do you have kids? I have two boys, born 2008 and 2010. It’s really no surprise that they are always on the go, there are just so many great everyday moments to capture when you live with two boys under 5 years old. ;) You’ll be seeing plenty about those guys, they feature on almost every layout!
If you could travel anywhere (and scrapbook it) where would you go? Someday I’d l-o-v-e to backpack through Europe, but I’ll have to grab a gal pal for that because the hubby, David, is not so into that plan. So instead I’m pushing that we should celebrate our 10 year anniversary next fall by taking a no-kiddo trip to Disney World. Sounds like a good time to me. And either plan is totes scrapworthy.
What is your favorite scrap collection? Why do they do this one to me? I can no sooner choose a single favorite collection than I could choose a favorite color - I love them all! But the only collection I have ever purchased twice on Scrapbooksteals was MME Follow Your Heart. I’d fallen in love with Rhonna Farrer’s designs and just had to have it again, and now I have to have all her lines as they get released.
If you were locked in a room and forced to scrapbook, what tool would you have to have and why? If I am only allowed one tool and a bunch of paper and adhesive, then it needs to be my Silhouette Cameo/computer. I could use it like a paper trimmer, cut all the shapes I’d ever need, create my own alphas. The only thing I can’t conceptualize doing would be fussy cutting but I bet given enough “need” I could find a way around that problem too!
Meet Wendi Robinson!
Where do you live? Simi Valley, California
What is your favorite thing to make? Layouts and cards, I also enjoy making home decor items to decorate the house.
Do you have kids? Three — all of them are named after cities in different countries.
If you could travel anywhere (and scrapbook it) where would you go? Anywhere tropical, Fiji, the Great Barrier Reef, Hawaii — I LOVE summer and the beach.
What is your favorite scrap collection? I’m a HUGE Echo Park fan, especially For the Record lines and Here and Now.
If you were locked in a room and forced to scrapbook, what tool would you have to have and why? My scissors. I can fussy cut, distress, and cut out anything with them.
A huge ScrapbookSteals.com welcome to all of you! We are excited to see what you create in the upcoming months. Make sure to stay tuned to see all of the inspiration from these talented girls!
