To say I was excited when Kristy asked me to be a guest designer is a major understatement! I was thrilled & honoured! I won't lie, I was also a little nervous. Okay, a lot nervous! I just started scrap-booking this spring when my daughter was about 6 months old. I wanted her to have a record of her childhood that she would cherish forever (or so I hope!). So far, I'd say 90% of my pages have been about her. So when I found out that the fabulous Melodee was sending me the Sweet Love kit by Little Yellow Bicycle, I was excited to scrap something other then my baby girl. Not that I don't love to scrap her, but I really wanted to get started on my wedding album, and this kit was the perfect place to start. It's a Valentine's kit, but can be used for SO much more then just Valentine's Day!
Okay, seriously? When I saw how much stuff came with this kit, I couldn't believe it! I made a single page layout, a double page layout, 6 cards, and *barely* even made a dent in it! When I have more time, I plan on making some more cards, a garland, and a love coupon book for my hubby. Not to mention there is an entire matchbook album AND a decorative edged tablet that I LOVE!
For my first layout, I knew immediately which pictures I needed to use. I had these little photo booth pictures of my husband and I from when we first met 11 years ago. I scanned them, blew them up, and printed them out! Then I asked myself a question. What comes first? The layout, or the sketch? Well in this case it was the layout. I made it able to accommodate a single 5x7 photo or two 3x5 photos. I'm SO happy about how this one came together. I didn't even really have a plan in my head. I just started cutting paper! This will be the perfect first page for my new album of the story of *us*.
I had a little more trouble coming up with a plan for my two pager.
I had these great photos of my husband and I in our Bride & Groom hats that I really wanted to use.
They were taken at a bridal shower only a few weeks before our wedding, and they are the only photos of us wearing our hats. Basically, what I did was just lay the photos out across 2 pages, and thought, hey, this looks alright. I really wanted to use my new butterfly & heart punches, so I went to work punching! I thought they'd make a cute border instead of just using a border punch. At first I wasn't sure if I liked this layout, I am, like many, my biggest critic! I had to step away SO many times and come back and examine it. In the end I'm pretty happy with it :)
Chloe's amazing cards....
I can't thank Kristy & Melodee enough for choosing me to be a guest designer, I had so much fun with this project!
Actually Chloe, we can't thank you enough for going above and beyond as our Guest Sketch Designer. I'm seriously wowed by your creations and am a little shocked, still....that you have been scrapping for less than a year! Oh and just a note of clarification, you get to choose which sketch you'd like to do for MWM #19. You only need to create one to be on your way to the Emerald Club!
Remember to post your Mojo's to our Facebook Fan Page, and provide us with a link here on the blog to be eligible for next weeks drawing. Also just a reminder that we have a big drawing planned for those that will have completed sketches 11 - 20 and become a part of our Emerald Club. There will be instructions coming on how to enter for the big drawing!
For now I will leave you with the random winner of our last Mid Week Mojo.
Congrats to, Kristy MacKeen!
I absolutely adored Kristy's layout using the Grease Monkey papers. Such a perfect collection for the photos of her and her boys changing the oil in the car!
Well, I don't know about you, but I'm really excited to see what you girls come up with for this weeks choice of sketches.
