My Mind’s Eye Decorative Tape 8-pack | Monday Craft Madness #18

The My Mind’s Eye Decorative Tape 8-pack got to be one of my current favorite ‘go-to’ embellishments! I have developed a washi obsession – it seems to be appearing on almost all of my latest projects! I just LOVE the different colors and patterns that can be found on the My Mind’s Eye tapes, and had so much fun creating a variety of projects this week. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme…

A World of Washi!

Use washi tape  on your projects!

I decided to make a fun collection of crafts this week – just in time to give you that crafty inspiration for all of your Easter projects. I first decided to make some Easter Wall Art, then a washi card and an Easter wreath!

I love seeing the different wall art themes that you can buy in the shops these days. So simple, yet so effective. I decided that I would do an Easter themed wall art using a cutting file from Silhouette with the different colored washi tapes underneath.

I painted an old picture frame and added washi strips and flowers to the frame for extra interest.

The Easter card was so quick and simple to make too!

The washi was used as a background embellishment and around the edge of the card to add a little more color. The image was from Bugaboo which I colored using prismacolor pencils.

When Brittany suggested making an Easter wreath, it seemed like a great idea! Then I thought ‘Oh! How do I do this with washi?’ This wreath was actually super simple to make! I bought a polystyrene wreath, which I painted white, and then began wrapping strips of the washi around it. I loved the effect!

I then tried wrapping the washi directly onto the plastic eggs, but it just kept creasing and didn’t look good! I ended up folding the washi in half lengthways and then sticking this around the eggs.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘washi’ projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities!

Wonder World of Washi | How To’sday

When I hear the mere whispering of the word washi, my eyes glaze over just a little bit, my salivary gland kicks into gear, and my crafty brain starts revving full speed. I’ve had a lot of washi pass through my hands, and I can honestly say I don’t think any have made me as excited as today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye—The Sweetest Thing Decorative Tapes.

I know there are a lot of washi collectors out there so I asked a few ladies to share their favorite washi projects to get that creative engine going. I think after seeing these projects today that you’ll agree there is always room for more washi!

If this isn’t the most innovative use of washi tape, I’m not sure what is! Love the play binoculars created by Heather Conklin.

Look at how Cristine Redmond uses the washi to create a fun background for this darling card.

I love how Liz Martinez created these fun embellishments with strips of washi applied to paper and then punched out with a shape punch.

And lastly our amazing Design Team Alumni Cyndee Kawa shares several different fun uses to create backgrounds for cards. I especially love the grass!

Thank you for sharing your ideas with us today ladies! I can’t wait to add today’s washi collections to my ever-growing stash and use some of these ideas.

If you have an idea you’d like to see featured as a How To’sday tutorial, don’t be shy! We want to see! Send text and photos to kristy@stealnetwork.com and I will get you added to the lineup.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow for Mid Week Mojo!

We R Memory Keepers Washi Tape | Monday Card Madness #88

I remember the first time I saw We R Memory Keepers Washi Tape I was at Winter CHA (Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show) and I truly wanted to somehow finagle some of the gorgeous tape into my luggage. Alas, it was a no go as it wasn’t even available for purchase yet, so imagine my delight when I found out that ScrapbookSteals would be featuring the whole array of tapes as today’s steal!

And what perfect timing to be featuring an amazing We R Memory Keepers product as we are thrilled to be teaming up with them for their Operation Write Home card drive to show our support of the troops stationed overseas. It’s for a great cause and there are some pretty sweet prizes to be had, so you might just want to check it out!

I decided to do my part in helping We R Memory Keepers reach their goal of collecting 50,000 cards and created my initial cards this week using some red and blue tapes.

On this card I cut stars out of the red paper and then backed the two smaller stars with the blue washi tape.

I kept to the patriotic theme with this card, and again backed behind the star with blue washi, as well as a red houndstooth strip across the middle.

Next I decided to make a card using the washi flower tutorial by Misty Buck.

I had fun adding a splash of peach to this card in addition to a row of turquoise houndstooth washi.

I finished up my washi card making spree with this simple card using strips of washi to create the background of the card.

We are also pleased to be teaming up We R Memory Keepers Operation Write Home card drive for a fantastic giveaway! We have a lovely Red White and Blue Stack Pack that will be given to one random winner who participated in the Operation Write Home card drive.

To enter to win, all you have to do is:

We will have a random drawing from all of the card drive participants. The winner will be announced on our July 30th Monday Card Madness blog post. (Don’t forget! Post your cards to a regular Monday Card Madness blog post to be eligible for our regular monthly drawing.)

Let’s do our part to help collect 50,000 cards! I’ve done my part to bring them 5 cards closer. :)

Good luck!

My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic Nutmeg | Mid Week Mojo

Turquoise – Layout 5

I squealed a little knowing that I’d be creating today’s Mid Week Mojo with today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye, Indie Chic Nutmeg Collection. My very favorite of the Indie Chic designs! With a crazy 4-year-old fellah filling up so much of my day I’m always looking for a great collection to scrap his photos. But the bonus of this collection is that it is deliciously feminine at the same time! All you need to do is pick the right papers and you can have a completely “dude” layout, or something for even the sweetest little girl. Now that’s a good bang for your buck!

Today I’m going all boy. And boy am I glad I scrapbook so I can have the “See son! It’s payback time now that you’re a dad!” fuel in the future. This week it’s feet. Very, very dirty feet. (Not for my lack of trying to keep shoes on the boy!)

I love the simplicity of the embellishments in this collection. The banner made the perfect addition across the center of my layout, and the banner stickers finished things up perfectly!

And of course I couldn’t help but add some of the washi tape that I picked up when it was featured on National Scrapbook Day!

Wow! Can you believe that we are already half way through another gem series? That means it’s time to have another weekly random drawing. This week a little scrappy swag goes out to Kristy MacKeen.

Love the layout Kristy and huge snaps to you for scrapping a party! One of the things I fear most.  ;) Kristy if you will please send an email to service@stealnetwork.com letting them know you are this weeks winner they will be happy to send out your goods.

For those of you just joining us now is a great time to jump in on the fun. Each Wednesday we provide a new sketch and you have until the following Monday at 11:59 MST to have your creations posted to the internet and linked to this blog posting.

You can find all of the fantastic details here. Also, as we continue week to week, bookmark this page for your quick reference to Mid Week Mojo links.

Can’t wait to see the interpretations of this week’s sketch start popping up on our Facebook fan page. If you haven’t already “liked” us, stop by. We truly have a great time!
