New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

The Simple Stories Year.o.graphy Collection has so many great papers and patterns, stickers and quotes for all year round you really won’t know where to start! You can document the whole of your year with just this one collection. All the big holidays are contained in this collection – I had a hard time choosing which one to document! As it is coming up to Valentine’s Day, I decided I would scrap the pictures from last year. And because there are so many great elements, I decided to do a double page sketch for you for a change! Here is this week’s sketch. Hope you like it!

And here is my layout:

You girls totally rocked the sketch last week. Thank you to Michele for creating such an inspirational sketch! Our lucky random winner for the week is Heather Gray! Heather – I love the color combination you have used, and the date ticket is cute! Please let our customer service know you are this week’s winner in an email with your address to service@steals.com and we will be happy to send some sweet swag your way!

If you’re new, we’d love to see you join in! Each Wednesday we provide a sketch and you have until the following Monday at 11:59 MT to leave a comment on this post with a link to your creation. You can find all of the fantastic details here. Also, as we continue week to week, bookmark this page for your quick reference to Mid Week Mojo links.

Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Dies | Monday Craft Madness #8

The Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Dies are so easy and fun to use. They’re perfect for cards, layouts and gifts. Even my daughter loves to create using them! Now that the holidays have been and gone, what is the next big event we Papercrafters create for? Valentines Day! Which means this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Valentines!

I chose to use the Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Lace Hearts for my projects. They are so versatile. There are 5 dies from 1″-5.8″ -  you really can make whatever you want!

The first thing I always have to make is a Valentine’s Day card for my loved one! I went plain and simple with my card, using the 1″ die to cut out 15 white and 1 red heart. Arrange them in a grid formation, add a simple rub-on sentiment, and voilà! A card in under 30 minutes!

Next I thought about all the gifts given out at school. I started with the teacher gift. This phrase (‘Mrs Kreuger rules’) is something my daughter often writes to her teacher on her the back of her work when she has finished!

And lastly – it seems they all have to give each other gifts too (this is so different from the UK!). Here are the gifts for the girls in her class (the boys gifts will appear on here sometime in the future!) – mini loveheart treat bags. The die cut hearts make the perfect labels!

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your Valentines projects this week. Just remember to have fun! :)

Fancy Pants Love Story | Monday Card Madness #71

We all have a love story. Whether it be your husband, boyfriend, friend, parent or child, there is someone special in each of our lives and today’s steal, Love Story by Fancy Pants is an amazing collection of love-themed scrapbooking papers where graphic meets fancy and whimsy meets unique. This collection is filled with something for everyone on your love story list.

With Valentine’s Day upon us, rather than a providing a sketch, this week’s challenge is to simply create a Valentine. That way not only will you be one step ahead of the game tomorrow but you will be increasing your chance to win this month’s Monday Card Madness drawing! (If you follow the directions below).

I had an amazing time creating with the Love Story collection and was pretty shocked at the end of my Valentine making binge that I had six completely different looking cards. Oh how I love me a collection that is so versatile!

With the first card that I made, I honestly couldn’t decide which papers to use, so I decided to create a heart window and fill the hole with small strips of different sheets of paper.

Next I couldn’t resist using some of the trim and rubons in combination with the stickers. Oh, and I even pulled out my deco scissors circa 1996! I actually love the little addition to the heart and it felt great putting my old tools to work.

Valentine

A favorite part of any Fancy Pants collection is the sheet of “cards” that are easily cut up to finish off a card quite nicely.

Valentine

Then of course you can’t dismiss the darling rub-ons. I think this particular Valentine will be given right to my little 4-year-old snuggle bug.

Valentine

The Fancy Pants transparencies are always amazing as well. One card I used the hearts transparency die cut as the focus of the card, while another card I actually cut a transparency sheet to card size and it became my card.

Valentine Valentine

If you haven’t made your Valentines for tomorrow yet, then now is your chance! Lots of ideas to help you springboard your own creation and of course we’d love to see what you create.

As far as being eligible for the February random Monday Card Madness drawing, all you need to do is complete any (or all) of the Monday Card Madness sketches, post your creation to our fan page or your own personal blog, then leave a link on this blog to that creation no later than 11:59 PM MST on Friday, March 2nd, 2012.

My Mind’s Eye Love Me | Mid Week Mojo

Garnet – Layout 8

Love is in the air at ScrapbookSteals.com and I love that we have our February guest sketcher that will make anyone fall in love with today’s steal, Love Me collection by My Mind’s Eye. Today Becci Manies shows how versatile the Love Me collection is by not only creating love-themed crafts or Valentine’s crafts, but a layout about New Year’s Eve!

• • • • •

With the day of love right around the corner, I could hardly wait for “Love Me” to arrive on my doorstep. I knew that I wanted to scrap photos from New Year’s Eve with the collection, to show that these papers were gorgeous for not only the Valentine’s day scrapbooking layouts. The embellishment sheet is packed with adorable accents from the banner to the colored doilies.

Before I used each embellishment, I popped it off the sheet and lightly sanded the edges to make them nice and smooth. I personalized the embellishments by inking the edges, or adding glossy accents, Stickles or sanding them more for a worn look.

I find that I have a lot of iPhone photos that are already cropped to square shape, so I wanted to create a layout that I could use these types of photos or others could easily trim them down to fit the layout.

Ever since we put the Christmas decorations away, the girls have been asking what the next holiday is that we could decorate for. They were beyond excited to wake up one morning to see this banner hanging over our fireplace. I cut eight heart shapes out of the assorted Love Me papers and decorated each heart with the Love Me embellishments. I strung them up to a few long strands of twine and attached them with washi tape to make a beautiful Valentine’s Day garland.

Lastly, what would a love-themed collection be without a couple of Valentine’s day cards? This paper pack can definitely be more vintage looking with a little distressing and inking or it can be sweet and modern with it’s shades of pink and blue.

Bo Bunny Crush | Monday Card Madness #69

Love is in the air and what better way to craft those lovey moments than with today’s steal, the Bo Bunny Crush collection!? I mean what’s not to love about pink, black, white and red? Oh and the little blossoms and birds — well, it just doesn’t get cuter than that! Except it does. Add the trims and brads and all of the other fantastic embellishments and your Valentine’s day crafts and love projects are bound to be perfect.

Even though Valentine’s Day is still a few weeks out, today’s steal came in perfect timing for me. I spent the weekend in California teaching a class at the Craft and Hobby Association show (CHA) and thought it would be nice to leave little love notes — one for my kids, one for my husband who happened to have a trip to Texas overlapping with mine and one for my dear mother in law who volunteered to help wrangle the kids this past weekend in our absence. Who says it needs to be Valentines day to tell someone you love that you love them? :)

So sadly these cards will not be a part of the current card exchange, but I promise that I will be contributing some fun ones!

If you’ve missed out on the info for the current card exchange, here are the details:
