American Crafts DIY Thickers + Itzy Ritzy Cans

If you look anywhere on the Internet these days, you’ll see that the world is filled with DIY projects. Heaven only knows my basement is filled with eternal, never-ending, do-it-yourself, aka: bathroom building. But who wants to get messy with do-it-yourself bathroom building when there is a far funner and craftier way to get messy? You can get your crafty on with today’s steal, the American Crafts DIY Thickers. You can spice up those babies with just the right amount of color and texture to make a perfect project. Pair it with today’s steal the Itzy Ritzy Craft Cans and you have the makings for a perfect project.

I have to admit. Making these cans were FUN! I thought it would be fun to turn my canisters into a little Easter decor (or would it be an emergency snacky stash). I went to the store, picked up some paper Easter grass, a few different colors of marshmallow bunnies and I was set.

Then came the fun part—dressing up the letter stickers! (As if glorious rows of beautiful bunnies weren’t enough!)

DIY Thickers = SUPER easy.

First, choose your decorating medium. Either micro beads (Pop!), chunky glitter (Wow!)  or tinsel type stuff (Spark!)

Next peel off the top white sheet on the Thickers letter that you are using.

Dump on your choice of Pop!, Spark!, or Wow!

Then peel up from the backing. Voila! A DIY letter, customized to match your project. :)

Splap those babies on your creation and you’re done! DIY that doesn’t take going on 6 years, like my basement bathroom.

Believe me when I say that the DIY American Craft Thickers are…..

Have a great weekend and set your alarm for Monday because we have a guest blogger that you do NOT want to miss!

How To’sday | Custom Alphabet Stickers

So your sweet husband/boyfriend/special other decided to take it upon himself to do a little scrappy shopping for you for Christmas and decided to get you Thickers. A bunch of Thickers. Only problem is he decided to get you a lifetime supply of white ones figuring they would go with anything. Well guess what — he was right. :)

Today Misty Buck shows us how to take those basic white foamy alphabet stickers and alter them to suit any crafty color need.

Supplies:

  • foam alphabet stickers
  • ink pad
  • heating tool
  • rubber stamp

Step 1: Choose letters to alter and place them on a ink-proof surface.

Step 2: Cover the surface of the letters with desired color of ink.

Step 3: Gently heat surface of inked stickers until foam softens. “Stamp” surface of letters with a rubber stamp to create texture.

Step 4: Use custom colored and textured letters on project of your choice!
