My Mind’s Eye Nostalgia | Mid Week Mojo

Pearl – Layout 1

Simply typing ‘My Mind’s Eye’ makes my crafty brain ignite in a frenzy. I have to admit I’m jealous that this month’s amazing guest Mid Week Mojo sketcher, Erin Schultz, got to work with today’s steal, the Nostalgia Collection by My Mind’s Eye. Erin has the magic touch with everything she creates and is destined to be one of those scrappers I will always reflect on, so today’s steal is a perfect fit for her in more ways than just one!

I think I actually squealed out loud when I got the message from Kristy Lee asking if I would like to be a guest sketcher on I started scrapbooking with the very first Mid Week Mojo and look forward to  Kristy’s amazing inspiration each week!

As if guest sketching wasn’t enough, finding out I’d be working with the Nostalgia collection from My Minds Eye put me over the edge! My Minds Eye has been my absolute favorite paper company since I started scrapbooking. It makes up over half my paper stash!

Nostalgia did not disappoint. The soft colors and amazing embellishments in this collection are to die for!

I had so much fun working on this layout. Those chipboard banners add the perfect touch to any project! After finishing my layout I couldn’t stop thinking about what I could do with all the gorgeous embellishments I had left. They inspired me to create my first mini album!

If you’d like to see the rest of my mini album please hop over to my blog and check it out! Thank you so much Kristy and Brittany for the opportunity to create and hopefully inspire. <3

Doodlebug Christmas Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Garnet – Layout 1

Isn’t it exciting that we are starting out fresh with another “Gem Club” series? I’m pretty, crazy excited about what I got to create with today’s steal, the Doodlebug Christmas Collection, as a payback for Brenda Smith for helping me out on Monday with the Monday Card Madness. Pretty much any of you that frequent our Facebook fan page, or Brenda’s blog, know the sweet little face of Harper. It’s as if these photos were destined to be paired up with the Doodlebug collection.

I. Love. Trim. I love pretty ribbons and crushed velvety borders. I love brads with flair and this collection has it all.

Probably my favorite is the ribbon garland at the top. It’s amazing what a few foam squares can do to give a little dimension and movement to an exquisite piece of ribbon. Add the cute blingy holly brads to each end and my title is complete! :)

Brenda, thank you SO much for letting me work with these darling photos of Harper. I have to admit it’s a wee bit intimidating making something for you and you are an incredibly gifted scrapper.  I hope you like!

Now for the exciting part. Squeeee — winners!

Our lucky random winner for Opal #10 is Becky Back.

Becky your layout is darling! Thank you so much for taking the time to play along with our Mid Week Mojo. I’m sure Heather Conklin has enjoyed seeing the interpretations of her sketch over the past week every bit as much as I do each week. Echo Park Splash | Mid Week Mojo

Opal Club — Layout 7

Well I thought I’d make a splash with this week’s sketch, since today’s steal is Splash by Echo Park. For those of you that have been asking for another multi-photo sketch, I’m pretty sure that this one delivers!

I’d heard some of my crafty friends talking about creating a layout for 11-11-11, which used eleven photos taken throughout the day. I thought it would be fun to use that idea for this week’s Mid Week Mojo and had a great time snapping photos throughout the day, documenting parts of our normal routine.

Even though this kit is geared toward water and summer, I think it worked out perfectly to go with a wide variety of colors in my photos. Gotta love me a paper collection that is so versatile!

I used one of the sheets and cut it apart to create the wavy border across the base of my layout on both sides.

And I love the little letter stickers. Perfect for creating my subtitle.

Now I realize that this sketch is possibly a little daunting and might make some of you want to pass, so to up the ante for this week we will be doing two drawings next week to up the chances of winning for those that take the plunge! Also, remember if you don’t have photos that will work for this sketch, to be creative and combine some of the photo spaces and use 4×6 prints in their place. Just remember to have fun!

I’m so excited to announce our random winner for this week.  Congrats are in order for Nichol Tran!

Nichol, if you would please send an email with your address to, we will be happy to send a prize out to you.

If you would like a chance to win this week’s random drawing, you will need to have your sketch posted and linked to this blog posting by 11:59PM MST on Monday, November 21st. Also, if you are new to our Mid Week Mojo challenge or have any particular questions, you can find all of the details here. Have a great day!

Silhouette Machine | Monday Card Madness #57

::Deep sigh of fondness:: That’s right. I love my Silhouette. I also love that I just had to create cards today using my beloved machine, as today’s steal is none other than the Silhouette SD machine and accessories. What perfect timing for the machine and accessories to pop up as Christmas is right around the corner. If you don’t have a machine, I can’t even begin to express enough *and SHOUT from the rooftops*, that you will LOVE having one. If you already have one then now is the time to stock up on new blades and cutting pads!

I decided that for this week’s sketch it would be theme-based rather than a particular design. Your challenge this week is to create holiday or winter cards. I couldn’t resist some of the card downloads in the Silhouette store not to mention the fact that the deadline for our holiday cards swap is very near and I still had a few cards I needed to finish up.

For the first card that I made I downloaded the “5×7 Lace Card Base” by Lori Whitlock (5x7_lace_card_base_C01290_20509 ). I adjusted the size to fit into one of the envelopes that I have. I then cut out the “Bespangled Tree” by Hero Arts (bespangled_tree_C00703_23067 ).  I downloaded the “Merry Christmas” title by Jamie Koay (merry_christmas_title_C20091120180538_20387), and used my sketch pens to add it to the middle of the “Beautiful Label” by Lori Whitlock (beautiful_label_C00397_20509) prior to cutting it out. I put everything together, used pop dots to make the label stand out, inked the edges, added some bling to the tree and a brad to the top and my card was complete.

Next I made a simple card by creating a basic base, cutting out a piece of white cardstock to create an inner frame on the card. Then I cut out a simple circle border (which I don’t think is in the store any longer), and placed it across the center of the card. I downloaded and cut out a “Christmas Tag” by Pebbles, Inc., (christmas_tag_C00056_67122 ). I placed that in the center of the card then turned to the print and cut feature of the Silhouette. I downloaded and print out the “Christmas Set Merry Christmas” tags by Samantha Walker (10_christmas_set_merry_christmas_tags_C00964_19210). I then cut out a brown tag and added it to the center of the card with some pop dots and added a button to the top of the tag. Oh and don’t forget the inking of edges!

I had a blast using the “Christmas Card Kit” by Lori Whitlock (hmmm, I’m sensing a fondness of her designs – adorable_christmas_card_kit_C00764_20509). Made for a super easy card that is sure to bring a smile to anyone! I added some bling and a little hand stitching to finish it up.

I was crazy excited to get to play with the Silhouette fabric interfacing again. I picked up some Christmas printed fabric and then downloaded the “5×7 Eyelet Card Base” by Lori Whitlock (5x7_eyelet_card_base_C01286_20509), the “Nested Poinsettia” by Alaa’ K (nested_poinsettia__C00421_21585), and the “Merry Christmas” sentiment by Hero Arts (merry_christmas_C00656_23067 ). I applied the interfacing to my fabric, cut it out and assembled the card. I added some stitching to the inside to finish things up!

For the last card that I made I downloaded the “Christmas Card” by Rivka Wilkins (christmas_card_C00348_2581) and put my sketch pens to use. I often forget about them or overlook them but the fact is, they make some pretty spectacular creations.

I love the shimmer of these particular pens, and having switched out the colors makes for a pretty darn amazing creation. I added a few bling gems to two of the presents and my card was complete!

So there you have it. If I haven’t convinced you that you want and need and must beg your husband or santa or mom or dad for a Silhouette, then I am not sure what to do! Hands down you will love this machine.

Now for the exciting announcement of our October Monday Card Madness winner! Here’s a shout out to Brettany Quinton who is our first time Monday Card Madness, lucky random winner.

Brett, If you will please send our service department your address in an email at, we will be happy to get a prize sent out to you.

Today’s is the deadline for the Holiday card swap. We’ve received some pretty fantastic creations and I will be sorting and shipping them out to you very soon.

I’ll have details up in a couple of weeks regarding the next card swap for any of you that would like to participate in the next round.

Have a great day and be sure to stop by tomorrow for our next How To’sday tutorial!

American Crafts Ribbon | Monday Card Madness #42

Ribbon. Let  me guess. Most of you just went a little weak in the knees, and if you haven’t seen today’s steal, the American Crafts Dot Grosgrain ribbon, then you’d best sit down.

It always seems there are a million and ten ways to use ribbon on your projects. I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to do but settled on a triple bow row for the focus of this week’s sketch.

I am so in love with the huge variety of colors that come with today’s steal. A perfect fit for every project!

It’s amazing what a little splash of ribbon can do to a project to give it a little flair. If you’re saying to yourself that you have too much ribbon, well, I’ll let you in on a little secret. A girl can never have too much ribbon.  :)

Don’t forget to have this week’s card sketch posted to our Facebook fan page or your own personal blog by August 5th at 11:59 pm in order to be eligible for the July random drawing.

In case you haven’t heard we are hosting another card swap. The past two have been an amazing success and the talent is unreal! Here are the details for the current card swap:

  • Create 10 cards. They can all be the same or each can be different.
  • All cards must include an envelope.
  • Cards must be received to the ScrapbookSteals warehouse by August 31st. (ScrapbookSteals, Attn: Card Swap, 2181 California, #400, SLC, UT  84104)
  • Once your cards have been sent in the mail, please send me an email to, to let me know that I need to be on the lookout for your amazing creations. I will then randomly re-distribute the cards and mail back 10 different cards to each participant.

Don’t forget the ongoing challenge to send out joy!
