Basic Grey True Love Collection | Valentine’s Day Inspiration

The Basic Grey True Love Collection is the perfect collection for Valentine’s Day! It has an adorable color palette and patterns to match. It is packed full of paper, stickers, brads, envelopes, buttons and more. The paper designs just blew me away, and I really didn’t know where to start! I wanted to put everything in the collection on the layout! I didn’t manage it, but there is so much left over I can scrap the events of the day too!

Here is my layout:

My favorite part in this collection has got to be the envelopes! I knew I just HAD to put one on my layout somewhere! They are beautifully decorated and come in both the soft blue and cream. I added a brad to the envelope as a fastener – the flap just tucks behind it to keep it closed. A few of the coordinating buttons adds a little more dimension to the page – this cluster is mirrored in the opposite corner.

They all come with a small journalling card inside too! One less thing to think about and I love the fact that my journalling is hidden.

I also love that the collection includes a 4×6 journalling pad. There are so many fun quotes to use and elements to fussy cut. I fussy cut the quote “thinking of you , always makes me smile” and the small banners from the pad just to add a little more interest to the page. I also used my white pen to add some faux stitching and ‘break up’ the plain paper edges.

I hope I have inspired you to steal this collection – perfect for many themed layouts – but a great ‘steal’ for scrapping the memories from tonight!

New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Today’s steal, the Carta Bella Paris Girl Collection, is perfect for this time of year! It has all the colors and patterns for capturing your favorite Valentine’s Day photos. It is also perfect for those little (and big) girls out there. Today’s guest designer, Kassandra LePage, shows us just how super cute this collection is, with a great sketch to inspire us all!

When I was asked to be a guest sketcher at first I was shocked then so thrilled! Then came the ‘can I do this?’ There have been so many amazing scrapbookers on here, I didn’t think I could compare. But I got to thinking everyone has such different styles and strengths, what did it really matter?
When I found out I got to work with Carta Bella’s Paris Girl, I was even more excited because this line is so gorgeous. When I got it in the mail I was even more amazed with the texture and quality of the paper. So I really wanted to feature the paper in my LO. So here is what I came up with.

And here is the sketch:
Mid Week Mojo sketch Jade #10
I titled it ‘My Love, My Valentine’ and put the letters on all the rosette’s i made. Let me tell you, making all those rosette’s took along time but I think they really show off the paper well.
DIY handmade rosette embellishments
I love doilies and they always remind me of Valentines, so I wanted to add one in.

I thought the ticket stickers that came with the set had such cute sayings on them, that I just had to use them as well.

The 6×6 pad of paper is the same quality, and is also stunning! I just had to make a card with it! Here’s what I came up with.

So that’s it for me, thanks for having me as a guest sketcher, I had so much fun working with this paper. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Thank you so much Kassandra! The rosettes and sketch are just adorable! I’m going to try my hardest to join in with this one.

Urban Swank Urban Lily Paper Craft Collection

Winter Design Team member Cristine Redmond is back with us today, for another awesome reveal! Cristine got to work with a brand new product – which I must say I have fallen in love with! The Urban Swank Urban Lily Paper Craft Collection is just SO super cute that I know I won’t be able to resist stealing today. Cristine has really showcased this product to it’s full potential with some adorable projects – I dare you to resist the steal!

When Brittany told me what I would be working with for today’s blog post, I honestly had no idea what to expect.  I had never heard of Urban Swank or Urban Lily before.  But once I got my product in the mail I. Was. Pumped!  Being able to see the board book up close allowed me to think of about a million and one ideas for what I could do with it.  If you are on the fence as to whether or not you should buy the Urban Swank Urban Lily Paper Craft Collection, stick around!!
The board book is SUCH a fantastic concept.  As I mentioned in my last How-To’sday post, I am intimidated by mini albums.  But this board book makes it SO EASY!  You can use it as-is and just add some pictures and/or small embellishments or you can completely recover the whole thing, as I did, and make it your own!  Plus, with the hidden journaling pull-outs, you could put your thoughts in the book and “hide” them.  This would make a great Valentine’s gift for the hubby or even the kids.  Tell them how special they are to you or what you love about them.  Or make one for the new mom-to-be.  Or grandparents!  I could go on, but I think I’ll show you what I did with mine instead.

I decided to make this album about myself.  We wear many hats as women and I wanted to write down what I thought about all of the hats I wear.  (Side note: one thing I found when looking for pictures to put into this album was that I am never IN FRONT OF the camera.  I am always behind it.  I need to change that!)
Here are the pictures of the inside of the album:

I loved how I could hide my journaling for each aspect of my life in the pull-outs.  You could always add extra pictures or even small souvenirs in them.
I was also able to work with the ATC’s that are a part of today’s steal.  These are SO versitile!  They can be used to back pictures, as I used them.  Or as journaling cards.  Or as a cute flash card project for your littles.  Here are close-ups of how I used them in my album:

If you are intimidated by altered projects or albums like I am, don’t hesitate to steal today!  This is truly one of the best things I’ve ever made and I’m so excited to steal today so I can make more!  Have fun with it!

Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Jade – Week 9 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

The Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection is everything you would expect from a Simple Stories collection! It has fun bright colors and patterns, lots of quotes and title borders, ready-made journaling card elements in varying sizes, and photo mats and border strips – all you need to make that perfect scrapbook layout, mini album, card or…well…anything really!

Here is this week’s sketch:

Mid Week Mojo Sketch Jade #9

And here is my layout. I loved the sunburst that this Simple Stories has in it’s journaling cards and headers, so I copied it and made it bigger! I fussy cut a lot of the embellishments from the 12×12 papers, added stitching and washi tape, buttons and brads. It all went perfectly with the Summer photo:

Scrapbooking layout using Simple Stories Summer FreshHere is a close up of the stitching. I hand pierced and hand stitched on this layout, adding coordinating colored buttons, just to give more texture and interest to the page.

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

My title was fussy cut from one of the 12×12 sheets, and then lightly curled on the edges.

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

I wanted a small banner under my border, and so fussy cut this from another 12×12 sheet. Why spend the time creating my own banner when Simple Stories have done it all for me??

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

I used a couple of strips of washi tape to ‘set’ my journaling/meaning onto. This was fussy cut from the sheets, I added extra pen stitching and a brad to the flower center.

I hope I have inspired you to create your own layout from this sketch!

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for Part 2 of Winter Design Team Member Bev Code’s ‘Heart Galore’ inspiration.

How To-sday | Hearts Galore Part 1

Today’s How To-sday comes to you from Winter Design Team member Bev Code! Bev created so many cute heart techniques that we just had to make the post into a mini-series! You can find part 2 on the blog on Thursday.

Hi and welcome today to Hearts Galore with me at ScrapbookSteals How To-sday. I am going to share lots of fun crafts using hearts of different sizes, shapes and textures. I am starting with the layout below.

DIY tutorial to make handmade heart embellishments

Misting the background is done by Cricut cutting a heart and adding 2 other plastic mesh hearts that are bought at the craft store that are used for needlepoint. They make a great cluster to mist through.

In this close up you can see the misted cluster and I added a dollar store felt accent on a wire stem with bow. I also started with layers of papers from Echo Park Yours Truly collection. With the layers you also see brads, and a chevron border. I added a title and some gem stones.

Here is a really cute weaved heart tag. Here is the detailed link with instructions.
DIY tutorial to make handmade heart embellishments
You start with a 3×9″ strip that you fold in half and round the corners. You do this with two coordinating papers. I used one plain and one polka dots.

Using my cutter I marked the 1″ and 2″ on the 3″ span and cut from the upper edge near but not at the top of half circle edge down to the bottom. If you weave at all. it’s easy to weave the 2 together — over and through the center — over and under alternating rows. The link above gives more details for the beginner.

I hope you’ve liked part one of my “Hearts Galore.” Come back on Thursday to see two more ideas.
