We R Memory Keepers Tab Punch | Monday Craft Madness #12

The We R Memory Keepers Tab Punch is so easy and fun to use it really is child’s play! Whether you are altering recipe boxes, making file folders, adding tabs to your cards and scrapbooking pages, We R Memory Keepers have the designs you need. We thought we would switch things up a bit with the Monday Craft Madness theme this week, and give you a phrase! Here is this week’s Monday Craft Madness inspiration and theme:

“You are…..!”

Find or make up your own ‘You are…’ sentence and include it somewhere on your project. Have fun!

I decided to make 2 Valentine’s cards for my children, including the phrase “You are….to my….”. The first card is a pocket card – something a little different from the normal cards I make.

I used cutting machine to cut out the pocket and heart files, and added pen stitching for more effect. The tab punch was used for the small note in the pocket and for the tab on the card inside. Super cute mini alphas were used for the journalling “You are the cheese to my pizza” and I found the perfect photo of my son making pizza last summer. I love this color combination as it isn’t too Valentine’s, but has a more boy feel to it. Here is the card inside:

I then had to make a card for my daughter. I still stayed away from the normal shaped card, and made a gate fold card. I used typical girly colors and used the button as the closure for the centre opening card (the heart tucks behind the button to keep it closed).

I used the tab punch for a small border across the two sides of the card, and you may recognise the lace hearts die cuts from a steal last month! They were perfect for this card – I just added a little pen stitching and a rub on sentiment.

Again, I used mini alphas to complete the sentence “You are the chocolate to my ice cream” and found the perfect photo of my daughter and her chocolate ice cream last summer! I used the tab punch to highlight the fact that it is Feb 14th and a Valentines Day card.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘You are….’ inspiration projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – just because I have made cards doesn’t mean that you have to make cards too! The sentence would be perfect for a title or journalling on a layout or mini album. There are lots of possibilities. Just remember to have fun! :)

We R Memory Keepers Mini 8 punches | Monday Craft Madness #2

Great things can come in small packages and this is definitely the case with one of today’s steals, the We R Memory Keepers Mini 8 punches. (Check back later today– you don’t want to miss our Cyber Monday fun!) I tried a few at the ScrapbookSteals retreat and LOVED them! There are so many great designs it was hard to pick just one. Which brings us to this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme:

Punches!

I decided to use the Snowflake Mini 8 punch to make a winter mini album. I love mini albums with a mixture of shaped pages – I find them far more interesting and fun to look at.

I decided to use the punch for the regular snowflake circle background. I also punched vellum, folded it in half, and then stitched around the outside to make a pocket for the mini snowflakes that were punched out during the cutting of the large snowflake circle.

You don’t have to punch out the whole circle. I only cut out half of the circle to add a different shaped page to my album (which you can see in the bottom page of the photo below).

Here are the photos of the rest of my mini album:

I just love these punches and I am definitely going to be ‘stealing’ more! I hope I have inspired you to join in this week’s Monday Craft Madness challenge – using punches!

Fiskars Squeeze and Lever Punch | Monday Card Madness #103

Who said exercise has to make you all sweaty and stinky? Not me! In fact, I’m thinking today’s steal, the Fiskars Squeeze and Lever Punches, might just become the next hot fitness trend. Let’s face it, we busy ladies like to multitask! So why not combine crafting with strength training, even if it is just those forearms getting an itty-bitty workout? Your projects will also be transformed into something sleek and sexy with one of these amazing punches, so it’s a total win!

I had so much fun working with the punches today that I couldn’t settle on one particular sketch design. However, I don’t want to leave you all longing so I created this week’s sketch based off my favorite card this week.

I love how easily the banner squeeze punch works. It’s honestly kind of like slicing through room temperature butter! So much for building those muscles, but hoorah for building cute cards!

Of course the banners were calling to be used again…

…and again!

Then I made a couple of cards using the Jenni Bowlin Grandma’s Doily punch. It works great to create a window border.

Or to add a simple splash.

Gotta love a card that packs a punch! :)

The cards that have been popping up on our Facebook page this week have been amazing! I particularly loved this card by Charissa Miller.

Just in case you didn’t know we love to give away free scrappy swag to those of you that participate in our Monday Card Madness sketches.

If you’d like to enter to win our September Monday Card Madness swag package:

  • Create any or all of the weekly Monday Card Madness sketches.
  • Post the card to our Facebook fan page, or any other online location.
  • Leave a comment on one of the Monday Card Madness blog posts with a link to your card no later than 11:59 pm, MST on Friday, September 28th.

Have fun creating cards this week!

American Crafts Knock Outs Border Punch Kit | How To’sday

The fabulous Staci Jones is back again showing us what a knock out the American Crafts Knock Outs Border Punch kit is. I love that it comes with six different border options and a handy-dandy carrying case, and I really love what Staci has done with the punches! So don’t mind me while I step aside for a moment to hurry and hit the steal button on today’s awesome steal. :)

I was ecstatic when Kristy asked me to show all you fabulous people one of my favorite scrapbooking tools—the American Crafts Knock Outs punch.  I am totally in love with this wonderful tool and use it often.  I put off buying punches for a long time because I dreaded the amount of room they take up. My husband surprised me with the American Crafts Knock Outs punch for Christmas last year and it was such a great surprise.

My favorite things about these punches are:
1) Storage is slim and the case can be easily be stacked, especially if space is tight.
2) Super easy to assemble and use and don’t take a lot of time. Easy to put back in its case.

3) Six different punches in one sweet case! And they are borders I would actually use.
4) Great Price. For six different punches it is definitely nice on the pocketbook.

Have I convinced you to steal yet? Check out these fun projects and head on over and hit “Steal Me!”  You won’t regret it!

Staci, you have completely sold me on this punch. I know how much you’ve enjoyed it and I have to say I was pretty smitten with it after playing with it last Saturday! Such a great add to any crafty stash and for punching borders or incorporating punches into a layout.

Thank you for sharing with us again today!

If you have an idea that you would like to see featured as a How To’sday don’t hesitate to send them along to kristy@stealnetwork.com and I will get you added to the lineup! Next week we have a great tutorial from Charissa Miller on Alcohol Inks.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow for a two-pager Mid Week Mojo. I can’t wait to share!

Martha Stewart Punch All Over The Page

If you’re an indecisive gal like myself and can’t decide if you want your embellishment here or there, then the-ever-so-brilliant Martha Stewart Punch All Over the Page Punches are the perfect thing to add to your collection. I love that these punches go anywhere. No more fighting with a restrictive guides—you can set that baby wherever you want!

Today we are treated to a post that packs a punch as guest blogger Deb Routledge shows us just what today’s steal can do!

I was so excited when Kristy asked me to feature as a guest designer for ScrapbookSteals it only took me a second to reply! I was even more excited when I realized I was to work with these fantastic Martha Stewart Punch All Over the Page Punches. I love to punch and these new ones are right up my alley!

First, I created some wall art for my new craft room. I created the letters on my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge from a former “steal,” the Authentique Uncommon 6×6 pad.  I then punched out lots of flowers and leaves in the same papers.  This is something I love to do as it gives such a perfectly coordinated look to the project.

To give more definition to the punched out flowers and leaves I dry embossed them on a foam pad using an embossing tool.  When I am happy with the look, I layer them.

I also created this gift bag with matching notebook.

It is so easy to create pretty flowers with these punches to embellish any project.  I totally love the whole coordinated look it has.

Because these punches are all around the page punches you can also use them to create apertures in your layouts, making them the most versatile punches around. If you’re looking for a tool to create your own coordinated embellishments that will also be useful for achieving a layered look, then these are the tools you need!
