My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell Collection | Monday Craft Madness #11

The My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell Collection is such a versatile collection, it can be used for girls or boys, big or small. There is a mixture of chevron, striped and spotted patterns, along with a variety of floral designs, in such a gorgeous blues, yellows and grays, the theme is up to you. I decided to scrap my baby boy this week, along with making a baby shower card – which means this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Baby Blues!

You could make layouts, cards or altered projects baby related or even just use the color blue. The choice is yours!

I loved the color combination in this collection and thought it worked perfectly for a layout of my baby boy.

I used a sketch from our very talented Design Team Member Bev Code.

The embellishments that came with this collection were just adorable, and I tried to find a way to use as many as I possible could! I clustered some of the embellishments at the bottom corner of my photo. The notebook paper and flower are both stickers, which I then layered with a wooden button and brad. The other two embellishments came ‘ready done.’ I love this about MME – they do all the hard work for you!

As I have said previously, the new enamel dots from MME are one of my greatest finds! I knew I wanted to do a small banner underneath the photo but I didn’t want the twine that I normally use with them. Instead I used the enamel dots to finish off’ the chipboard banner. I love that they come in different sizes in coordinating colors!

Next, I decided to make a baby card. The colors and patterns are perfect for this, and it kept within my theme.

I fussy cut two of the borders from the border sheet, and added one of the tiny word stickers as a final touch.

I used my Cricut to cut out the stroller and used pop dots to give it a little dimension. Some stitching for texture, buttons for wheels, pop it all up on a scalloped circle and done! A cute baby card.

The My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Honey Collection is just SO sweet and perfect for the girlies in your life! From pinks to creams, yellows to grays, you really can make your pages in any style you like. There are chevrons and flowers, dots and doilies, with a huge amount of embellishments to match. I love the die cut titles and layered stickers, and something new to me – enamel dots – they look just like brads but are adhesive, so no poking holes through the papers! There is so much more in this collection, including brads, chipboard, crocheted doilies and journalling cards – enough to make a whole scrapbook album!

I wanted to stay with a simple color combination for my layout so chose the pink, grey and white/cream papers. Even with all the patterns, the papers in the collection compliment and work well with each other. Here are some close up’s of my layout to show you how awesome the embellishments really are. You really don’t need to do anything else with them – they are all ‘ready to go’!

The layered stickers are so beautiful – they add great dimension to any scrapbook page.

I love the brads that come with every MME collection. They are all color coordinated and have other decorative elements which you can mix and match. I paired this with one of the label stickers just to give it a little more interest.

And lastly, I just LOVE the title cards. You need to do very little with them – I just popped this one up over the wrapped twine, and added some of the enamel dots to highlight it. So simple and quick to do, yet I love the effect!

How To-sday | Gift Magnet Boards

Today’s How To-sday by Winter Design Team member Lisa Spiegels is a such a cute gift idea! I love how it can be adapted for whomever and whichever occasion you choose. And for an added bonus, you can use up all those scraps you have lying around! I love the My Mind’s Eye ‘Follow your heart’ collection and the way she mixed and matched products.

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to have my first post here on the Scrapbook Steals blog!   I’m Lisa Spiegel and I am thrilled to be sharing my scrappy creations here for Scrapbook Steals.
Today I’d like to share with you one of my favorite “scrap” projects.  I’ve made many of these sweet little magnet boards for gifts..they come together very easily and are perfect for the “scraps” from your last project.  They are a great size for Instagram, Polaroid or Fuji pictures, too!

It’s fun to make them themed, for teachers gifts, hostess presents, teen presents, and more!  In this case, I had some leftovers from My Minds Eye Follow Your Heart products, some flowers I just picked up at Michaels, and some Cosmo Cricket phrases.

Step 1. I have a stash of this stuff, it’s called Metal Flashing and they sell it at Lowes and OSH in the square size, which is what we are going to use for our project. Flip your paper over and trace the flashing onto the paper, then cut it out. I prefer to keep my paper just inside the edges of the flashing so that I don’t have to sand it off.  I also think the little bit of flashing showing gives it a finished look.

Step 2. Round corners of your paper if desired and glue the paper to the flashing using glue stick. Then, using a Cropodile, punch holes 1/2 inch from the top and 2 inches in from each side.

Step 3.  Create some cute layered embellishments using lightweight cardboard or cardstock and your “scraps”.

Step 4. Add magnets to the back of each.  I used these by Basic Grey, but you can find them easily at Lowes, OSH or Michaels. Since you are only using one side, it doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative.  These happen to be self adhesive, so just stick them on the back of your embellishment clusters and voila!  You now have magnets!

Step 5. Decorate the bottom of the board how ever you wish..

Step 6. Add some twine to the top to hang it…(maybe I should add get a manicure, too!)

And there you have it!  A cute little magnet board to give or to keep!

Archive Sale | Inspiration!

Today is the $5 Flat Rate Shipping Archive Sale across all STEALS.com sites! As there is no Mid Week Mojo this week (don’t forget – we have given you an extra week to complete your layouts!) I thought I would give you some inspiration using products from the archive.

First off is American Crafts Shoreline Collection this was one of my favorite products to work with when I was on The Summer Design Team!

Next we have Echo Park’s Everday Eclectic & So Happy Together – I love the bright colors and fun elements in these collections.

We also have another of my favorites in the archive - My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline Collection – I just love the soft colors and all the embellishments that come with every MME collection!

And lastly, Pink Paislee’s Indigo Bleu Collection. I love the blues and yellows in this collection – perfect for boy or girl layouts!

My Mind’s Eye Title Cards | Monday Craft Madness #5

The My Mind’s Eye title cards are SO much fun. They can be used for any paper crafting project! I love that the sentiments on these cards fit any occasion. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Layering!

I chose to make three different cards this week using the MME title cards as the main focus. The layering is so easy to do. We do it all the time on cards and layouts without really thinking about it! An easy challenge for everyone to join in!

This first card shows the layering at its best. There are a total of eight layers on this card! I matched the MME Indie Chic card with MME papers from other collections and added a little for some texture.

My next card uses another title from the MME Indie Chic collection, along with papers from MME’s Honey Cake 6×6 paper pad. I cut out the hearts using my Cricut and ‘popped’ 2 of them up, along with the title card, using pop dots. A bit of inking around the edges of the papers really highlights the layering.

I love the colors in the MME ‘Dilly Dally’ collection, and this title card really pulls the color scheme together! I fussy cut the tickets from one of the 12×12 papers and used my punch to cut out the star. I love the masculine feel to this card – it could be for a birthday, graduation or other special event.

I love how versatile these title cards are. They aren’t just for scrapbooking!
