My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Amber – Week 5 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection, is the perfect color combination for this time of year! It has all the colors and patterns for capturing your favorite spring photos. Today’s guest designer, Michelle King, shows us just how super cute this collection is, with two great sketches to inspire us all!

• • • • •

Hello there everyone! I have had so much fun and inspiration taking part in the Mid Week Mojos for over 2 years now (my how time flies)! When Kerys asked me if I wanted to put together a sketch of my own, my first thought was, “Yippee!!!” and then it was quickly followed by, “Oh my goodness, how can I compete with the incredible sketches that have been presented previously?!” Well, the fact that I was going to be able to play with My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection certainly pushed me to try.

I had so much fun with the beautiful pieces in this kit. I was seriously blown away by how much awesomeness could be in one kit. Of course, that means I couldn’t do just one layout…For my first layout, I wanted to use the brilliant orange scheme that is at the forefront of the kit (have I ever mentioned how much I like orange?). I wanted to be able to show off as much of the base paper I used on this one as I could because those big flowers just make me smile. At the same time I wanted to use as many embellishments as I could because there were so many and they fit so nicely on the page without feeling like they are overwhelming. I am normally someone who does not use a lot of embellishments, but found with these pieces, I wanted to keep adding! C’mon, how darling is that crocheted flower?

Here is my first sketch (Amber #5a):

And here is my layout:

Once I finished that one, I thought I should show that the kit isn’t just “tangerine.” There are some really pretty colors in this collection. So, for my second layout I decided to use the more muted colors. The pale yellows and aqua have a nice fresh feel to them. And again, I found myself pulling out some great embellishments to finish off the look. I love the title card because that really is how my youngest is — especially the “fearless” part (I think I get more grey hairs by the day).

Here is my second sketch (Amber #5b):

I even made a cute little bookmark for a swap I am in. I used the chevron pattern and then one of the cute cards in the kit. Voilà! Instant cuteness for any avid reader out there! AND…even though I am not really a card maker, I did make what I think is a pretty darn cute one (even if I do say so myself). The fact that it turned out the way it did just goes to show I had a great spread to choose from.

I hope you all have the chance to play with the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection because I continue to sit here thinking about what else I can use it for (I’m already pondering some altered projects). Hope you have fun with the sketches and thanks for having me as a guest sketcher.

My Mind’s Eye Decorative Tape 8-pack | Monday Craft Madness #18

The My Mind’s Eye Decorative Tape 8-pack got to be one of my current favorite ‘go-to’ embellishments! I have developed a washi obsession – it seems to be appearing on almost all of my latest projects! I just LOVE the different colors and patterns that can be found on the My Mind’s Eye tapes, and had so much fun creating a variety of projects this week. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme…

A World of Washi!

Use washi tape  on your projects!

I decided to make a fun collection of crafts this week – just in time to give you that crafty inspiration for all of your Easter projects. I first decided to make some Easter Wall Art, then a washi card and an Easter wreath!

I love seeing the different wall art themes that you can buy in the shops these days. So simple, yet so effective. I decided that I would do an Easter themed wall art using a cutting file from Silhouette with the different colored washi tapes underneath.

I painted an old picture frame and added washi strips and flowers to the frame for extra interest.

The Easter card was so quick and simple to make too!

The washi was used as a background embellishment and around the edge of the card to add a little more color. The image was from Bugaboo which I colored using prismacolor pencils.

When Brittany suggested making an Easter wreath, it seemed like a great idea! Then I thought ‘Oh! How do I do this with washi?’ This wreath was actually super simple to make! I bought a polystyrene wreath, which I painted white, and then began wrapping strips of the washi around it. I loved the effect!

I then tried wrapping the washi directly onto the plastic eggs, but it just kept creasing and didn’t look good! I ended up folding the washi in half lengthways and then sticking this around the eggs.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘washi’ projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities!

My Mind’s Eye Collectable Remarkable & Unforgettable | Monday Craft Madness #16

The My Mind’s Eye Collectable Remarkable and Unforgettable Collections in today’s steal are just as adorable as the rest of the Collectable Collections. Remarkable is such a bright, fun collection of primary colors and patterns, the perfect combination for your boy pages. Super cute label and layered stickers, journal cards and chipboard – you won’t be lost for words! Unforgettable is the complete opposite – pinks, yellows and girly colors – both sweet and trendy at the same time! Again, the stickers and embellishments take the words right out of your mouth! They also come with coordinating stamps and washi tapes – what more could you ask for? Onto this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme…

Stamp it!

Use any stamps you like on your projects!

I decided to make a ‘girly gift collection’ for this week’s crafts. I used the 6×6 paper pad and stamps from the Unforgettable Collection, and made a gift bag, a card and a gift card holder.

I used a normal lunch sack for the gift bag. For the top of the bag I used a border punch, and then layered some of the different papers and mini journal cards, vellum and paper clips for a little interest. Instead of using washi tape, as is the trend of decorating paper clips at the moment, I got the same effect using small strips of the patterned papers.

I used 3 stamps from the collection, white I heat embossed using a watermark stamp pad and white embossing powder. I also used the WRMK tab punch from a steal at the beginning of the month.

For the purse card, I used my silhouette for the first time! I bought a super cute purse cutting file and went to town! The background paper is just plain pink cardstock (as it needed to be bigger than 6×6), with the decorative papers coming from the Unforgettable 6×6 paper pad. I used one of the stamps, which I also heat embossed, a little netting, and a button and twine to finish off the clasp. Another two different stamps were used inside the card for a simple sentiment.

The gift card holder was again a cut file from the silhouette store. I used the same flower stamp and button to coordinate with the purse card – and the great thing about the gift card holder, is that you can use it as a bookmark too! So much fun!

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your stamping projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities!

Just remember to have fun! :)

My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender Collection

Winter Design Team member Lisa Spiegel is back with us today for another awesome reveal! Lisa got to work with the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender Collection. This collection consists of soft, delicate patterns and colors – very similar to the old Stella & Rose collection from a few years ago. The sentiment stickers and title cards have such adorable wording, and pair them with the crocheted flowers and other embellishments, you have the perfect ‘girly’ page!

• • • • •

Happy Friday everyone! I was thrilled to have my favorite manufacturer and my favorite of their recent release to work with, My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender Collection. The pastel colors mean my photos and stories just pop off the page..and that because it’s My Mind’s Eye, everything comes together SO easily!

I created three layouts and a card to highlight this collection. For this first layout, I cut a title from my Cameo and pop dotted it up…it is called “Leap of Faith”.

I love how the little banner I made under the sun button (which I sanded a bit to tone it down) looks like little sun rays! Here’s a close up of the title…

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts
Next, this layout of my oldest DD using a black and white photo (a rarity for me!).

Scrapbooking layout using My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender Collection
This has to be my favorite paper of the collection..I love how it does much of the work of the layout for me. I created this one in less than 30 mins but it looks like it took a lot longer! The premade layered stickers are AMAZING…they also make the work easy! And how cute is that little crochet flower? I just added a brad to the center of it.

My last layout was actually the first I created. I used an instagram photo of my youngest daughter with our newest cousin…it was such a sweet and tender moment..love that the papers can reflect that, too!

Scrapbooking layout using My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender Collection
I added a heart shaped doily under the layers of paper..and the cluster at the top..and actually cut the title of the paper off the UPC edge and used it as a tab because I loved the name of the line and it worked so well with my photo.

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

Lastly a little Thank You card that came together in a matter of minutes because of the premade layered stickers..

I added Cameo Cut leaves and a chipboard flower and buttons and some of the enamel stickers, too…how cute, right?! Such a wonderful collection to work with, you won’t want to miss this steal!

Thank you so much Lisa! Your layouts and card are just adorable! I love the soft colors and how you used all the embellishments and patterns! A great job as always. :-)

Thanks for stopping by everyone and be sure to tune in again on Monday for a new Monday Craft Madness!

My Mind’s Eye Collectable Notable & Memorable | Mid Week Mojo

Amber – Week 1 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Welcome to a new Mid Week Mojo Series! Get ready for 10 weeks of inspiration and chances to win!

The My Mind’s Eye Collectable Notable & Memorable Collections are everything you would expect from My Mind’s Eye! The Notable collection is full of vibrant blues, greens, yellows and oranges, with fun label stickers, layered stickers and title cards to match! The Memorable collection is a much ‘Springy’ collection, with soft patterns and color combinations. It’s perfect collection to make you wish for warmer weather and blooming flowers!

Here is this week’s sketch:

Scrapbooking inspiration sketch challenge using My Mind's Eye Notable Collection

I just love the vibrant colors of this collection – the mix of patterns and colors just scream ‘fun!’ to me, so I wanted to create a fun layout!

Scrapbooking layout using My Mind's Eye Notable Collection

The first thing that jumped out at me in this collection was the bright orange photo frame sticker! I just love this and decided to use it highlight one of my photos. The photo inside the frame is 2.5″ x 2.5″ which fit one of my photo’s perfectly!

Scrapbooking layout using My Mind's Eye Notable Collection

I wanted to use as many of the colors and patterns as I could on this layout, but didn’t want it to look too fussy. Instead of adding layers to the layout, I decided to use a more haphazard grid formation. I used the banner and stitching, along with some ‘popped’ up stickers, for more texture and interest than the basic plain grid.

I used one of the title cards for my own title, but removed the orange sunburst from around the outside. Instead I hand stitched a chevron design in a lighter color, to highlight the title but not over-power it.

I hope I have inspired you to create your own layout from this sketch!
