Jenni Bowlin 9 to 5 Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Pearl – Layout 7

Back to school. Those three words bring such peace and joy to my heart! And you know what else does? Back to school supplies. The glorious array of organization tools, labels, notebooks, pens, pencils, and post it notes make me so happy. Today’s steal, the 9 to 5 collection by Jenni Bowlin, echoes my love of office supplies. All of Jenni’s little embellies bring the perfect “organization” to any page.

It was so much fun to see a sketch from Design Team member Katrina last month that I asked Regina if she would provide us with one. It’s a treat for me to be given some inspiration and then make it blossom in my own creative way just like you ladies do each week.

I was delighted when ScrabookSteals fan Jennifer Collins sent me photos of her sweet little lady in case I needed something fresh to work with. How could I resist scrapping photos of this little angel?

It was hard to settle on which of the six photos she sent me to use but when I saw the “he said,” “she said” note cards in today’s collection I knew I wanted to use them as a big part of the layout. I thought of how fun it will be for both mom and dad to record their feelings of the new little princess in their family.

Keeping in theme with Regina’s sketch, I used the row of tickets across the bottom of the layout as one of the borders, then used some washi in combination with the chipboard buttons and some flowers as the other border area. I also used a little Mr. Huey’s mist to alter the chipboard letters which I included on the layout.

Now for a treat in seeing already how Regina Mangum interpreted her own sketch. I LOVE THIS!

Thank you so much Jen for allowing me to scrap a photo of sweet little Julia! I have five more sitting on my desk so you never know when she may make another appearance. ;)

Speaking of appearances, your layouts this week have been absolutely fantastic! Keep it up girls! This week Julie Koets is our lucky random winner. I’m blown away by Julie’s interpretation of the Pearl 6 sketch.

I love everything right down to the texture, the stamping, and the misting. Way to take a good sketch and make it fab, girl! Julie, please send an email to service@stealnetwork.com letting them know that you are this week’s winner and we will be happy to get a prize sent out to you.

For those of you just joining us, now is a great time to jump in on the fun! Studio Calico Heyday | Mid Week Mojo

Pearl – Layout 6

Okay, not gonna lie — I’ve been counting the days until today’s steal, the Studio Calico Heyday collection. Kids count down to birthdays and I count down to days when I get to play with some of my favorite colors, designs, mists, and hexagons.  I tell ya! Forget about birthdays, because Heydays are much, much better. Well, unless you were given Heyday for your birthday. :)

Today’s collection is so packed you don’t even have to be nervous about cutting into the papers. But as much as I am crazy in love with this collection I thought I’d give you girls a break this week and stick with one sketch.

I am in love with 4×4 Instagram prints right now (aka too lazy to pull out the big camera) and hexagons, so I went with a single photo and used the hexagon mask as the drive for this week’s layout.

I used the hexagon mask as well as the Mint Julep and Sherbet Mr. Huey’s to create a custom photo frame for my photo. I absolutely adore using the Mr. and how easy it is to create a truly unique piece for a project.

To create the background of my layout I carried over the hexagon mask theme and used my Cameo to cut out a background. I then used the reverse side of the cutouts to place back in some of the open spaces. I also misted a few of the cut out hexagons and randomly replaced them as well.

The papers in this collection are so amazing. I love that it’s a great mix of papers for both feminine and masculine layouts. I wanted to include a bunch of the prints without overwhelming the page so I added some of the full sheets of 6×6 papers layered behind my main photo, then added a smattering of the chipboard dies along with some cuts from my Silhouette. I love how it turned out!

Ahhh. I love it. Heyday, you have my heart.

I loved seeing the interpretations of both sketches last week. You girls are really on fire and I’m hoping with school coming up that some of you will find a little extra time to get some crafty on. I’m kind of beside myself with excitement over the fact that my baby goes to Kindergarten! I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with myself for three hours of solitude every day!

Anyhow, you all rocked it last week and I’m pleased to show off our random winner. Congrats go to  Jessica Laureano who did a great job with the Pearl 5b sketch. I’ve sooooo missed seeing your work girl! Welcome back! :)

Please send an email to service@stealnetwork.com with your address and we will be happy to send a little scrappy fun your way!

Bo Bunny Mama-Razzi | Mid Week Mojo

Pearl – Layout 5

I think any of us scrapbookers that are also moms probably fall into the “Mama-Razzi” category. I mean, our kids are the cutest ones on the planet, right? And if they are the cutest then why not take 10 gajillion photos of them? My kids are pretty well trained to sit, pose, and show off for the never-ending clicks from this Mama-Razzi’s camera. Thankfully today’s steal, the Bo Bunny Mama-Razzi collection, is the perfect companion to make your little superstar shine!

Lucky for you and your shutter bug, I was a little ambitious and cranked out two sketches this week! I had a hard time choosing which photo to work with so I decided to do them both. The first layout I created was very much embellishment driven by this packed collection.

This collection is so bursting with chipboard, stickers and gems that I certainly wasn’t lacking for choices when creating. I also love how the blues and greens in this collection work perfectly with the photo of my silly dude and his watermelon head.

The second layout I created is light on the embellishments since this collection has enough distressing to hold its own.

One day we came home from a lunch date and found our “babysitter” having a little break! :) Good thing the kids are getting old enough to not be under sister’s watchful gaze at all times.

And guess what? I still have a ton of embellies and enough paper left to make at least a few more layouts. Guess I’d best get my mama-razzi on and start snapping more pics!

If you didn’t have a chance to swoon over all of the dazzling interpretations of Jen McDermott’s amazing sketches last week you should swing by our Facebook fan page and check out a few.

At least check out this week’s winners — Congrats to Michelle King Beaudry, the random winner of the Pearl 4a sketch! I love how she duplicated the sketch to create a 2 pager.

Monica Sigmon, you are the lucky random winner of the Pearl 4b sketch! I love the colors and the fact that you scrapbooked a little piece of older history!

If you two lovely ladies would please send an email to service@stealnetwork.com with your addresses we will be happy to send a little scrappy loot your way!

October Afternoon Cakewalk Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Pearl – Layout 4

Mid Week Mojo is definitely the highlight of the week. It’s such a cakewalk to use a sketch as your springboard for weekly inspiration. What’s an even bigger cakewalk is when you get to pair a darling sketch with today’s steal, the October Afternoon Cakewalk Collection. This week the incredibly talented, beautiful, and downright fun Jennifer McDermott has graciously accepted the invitation to provide a sketch and inspiration. Let’s just say you’re in for a treat!

I am so very thrilled to be the guest sketcher for August.  I started doing Mid Week Mojo with #4 and have gotten so much inspiration from Kristy and the guest sketchers since then.

When I heard I would be working with October Afternoon’s Cakewalk I may have let out a huge squeal of excitement.  It is a GORGEOUS collection and was so much fun to work with!  Here’s my first sketch:

And here’s my take on the sketch:

I thought pictures from my oldest son’s first birthday would work marvelously with the papers.

The scrappy mojo was flowing and I just had to make another layout.

This time I wanted to show how the collection can be used for more than just birthday themes, so I did this layout of my sweet Fiona girl:

Cardmakers (and wannabe cardmakers alike) will get so much usage from this collection. I whipped these cards together in record time.

I wasn’t ready to stop playing, so I fired up my Cameo and cut out this gift card holder using a Lori Whitlock file. Perfect way to dress up a boring gift card!

Thank you so much to Scrapbook Steals and the incomparable Kristy Lee for letting me take a turn as guest sketcher.  It has truly been my pleasure!

Jen, your projects are fantastic! I’m not sure if I should thank you or not for being our guest today… I sense my wallet becoming just a wee bit lighter thanks to you. :)

Honestly, it was such a joy to work with you, even if you had to deal with my crazy this month! You’re the best!

Now it’s time to announce our two lucky random winners for the Pearl #3 sketch.

Michelle Duffy, you are our first winner!

And the second lucky gal is Sara Rusek!

You girls and your layouts are amazing! It’s been a true treat this week to see the two-pagers pour in. As fearful as I am of a two-pager, I think I need to make an effort to make them more often.

Now girls, please email service@stealnetwork.com with your addresses and let them know you are this week’s winner! I hope your scrappy swag will help you create more amazing creations.

Have a great day and be sure to check in on Friday for Design Team member Katrina Hunt’s August projects!

Kiwi Lane Designs Borders and Accessories | Mid Week Mojo

Pearl – Layout 3

Gosh, it’s great to be back Mid Week Mojo’n with you all! I’m thrilled that I get to work with the Kiwi Lane Designs Borders and Accessories.  My passion for paper crafting was rejuvenated when I was introduced to Kiwi Lane Designs. Combine that with how honored I am to be part of their 2012 design team and I’m pretty much giddy to be sharing my creations!

I recently returned from teaching a class at the Craft and Hobby Association show in Chicago. My class ended early in the morning so I had the rest of the day to hang out with a few of the lovely ladies that helped me in my class. We pulled up our tourist britches, jumped on the train, and spent the rest of the afternoon exploring downtown Chicago.

I love how today’s steal, the Kiwi Lane Designer Templates, works to create a layout in a snap! I’m crazy in love with the brackets and tags templates and use them often.

I love how perfectly the bracket templates work for a journaling block on the go. I created this layout last weekend at a crop and it was so nice to be able to create a perfect bracket without lugging around an electronic die cutting machine.

One of my favorite techniques with the smaller templates is to cut out paper and then fold them into a unique fringe. Each different template gives you a completely new look!

Of course, the tags make perfect banners. I simply can’t get enough! (Which is probably pretty obvious with my recent layouts and cards!) :)

If you haven’t had a chance to stop by and say hi to Kiwi Lane Designs, please do! Let them know that ScrapbookSteals and this Mojo Mama says hi!

I loved seeing the creative interpretations of Katrina’s sketch from last week and I’m looking forward to taking a stab at it myself! I’m happy so many of you found a little scrappy time in your schedule, especially this week’s lucky random winner Liz Martinez! I love the fun photos of her girls!

Liz, please send an email to service@stealnetwork.com letting them know you are this week’s random winner and we will be happy to send a prize to you.

On that note, I’m just so fired up about last week’s awesome participation (and the fact that I actually made a two-pager!) I think we will do a bonus random drawing next week. How’s that for a little extra incentive to get your scrappy on?

I hope you all have a positively amazing day!
