Mid Week Mojo

This week is a little ‘POSH’ if I do say so! Mid Week Mojo #17

This week is a little ‘POSH’ if I do say so! Mid Week Mojo #17

Wowee!  I can’t believe we are comfortably sailing along on our way through the ‘Emerald Club’ mojo sketches.   How great is that?  If you become a member of both clubs that will be TWENTY amazing layouts in your scrapbooks and all since JUNE!

When I knew I would be creating with Today’s Steal, the KI Posh Kit, I was a teeny bit indecisive as to what I was planning on creating.  I love the gorgeous, girly colors, but have this hangup with wanting to scrapbook current photos.  I was sifting through my photos and realized how perfect these papers would be for not only springtime, summertime, baby girl, all about me pages….but for HALLOWEEN? Yup.  It’s true.  I used this kit to complete a layout about my and her fairy costume.

I sat down and immediately knew that this layout would have to be a 2 pager.  Wayyyyy too many photos to choose from!  :)

I really wanted to enlarge my favorite photo to use as the highlight of the left hand page.

I moved around the other 3 photos on the right hand side of the page until I settled upon a layered, tilted look.  While I am usually a very linear scrapper, this really seemed to work for the feel of the layout.

I also have to admit that lace papers kind of scare me but they are OH so pretty!  I decided to challenge myself to use the piece that comes with the kit.  All in all I don’t think it turned out too shabby!  :)  I felt like the entire piece of lace paper was a little overwhelming so I decided to cut it up and spread it out across the 2 pages.

I cannot say enough good about the embellishments that come with this kit.  Why might you ask?  Because they are so sparkly!  Oh how this girl loves some bling!  I decided I wanted a little more empahsis on the glitter flowers so I decided to back them onto white cardstock and adhere them to the page using pop dots.

I also love how the brads finished off the centers of some flowers that I added quite nicely!

Last but not least I had to add a fairly decent sized journaling area to tell the story of my ‘Fairyly Gorgeous’ girl!

All in all, even though I am a challenged individual when it comes to working with only patterns, I really like how this page turned out, and can’t wait to show my girly!

As I was cleaning up I couldn’t resist throwing together some cards with my scraps!

All of us had such a great time browsing through all of the incredibly creative MWM #16 sketches.  I loved seeing how everyone made Jessica’s sketch work for them!  I have to thank my buddy, Random.Org for selecting this weeks winner, Sarah Cunico.

I love how she turned the sketch into a birthday gift!  SO creative!

Sarah, will you please send us a quick email to orders@scrapbooksteals.com with your address and we will get a little something sent out to you soon!

Good luck this week on getting one step closer to becoming an Emerald Club member.  I know that I have promised you Diamond Club members a little ‘flair’ to dress up your blogs or Facebook pages.  Be on the lookout for that shortly.  And if you are a Diamond Club member and haven’t yet sent me a request, please send me a quick email to kristy@stealnetwork.com, so that I can get your flair sent out to you!

One more reminder…make sure that you have your layout posted to our Facebook Fan Page, or other online source such as a blog, by next Monday at Midnight in order to be eligible for next weeks random drawing.

Sending you all lovely happy scrappy vibes!

Welcome Guest Sketch Designer, Jessica Fancher! (Mid Week Mojo #16!)

Welcome Guest Sketch Designer, Jessica Fancher! (Mid Week Mojo #16!)

Wow.  Can you belive that we are already on Mid Week Mojo #16?  Just a few short weeks and we will be celebrating our Emerald Club with another fantastic blog giveaway!

However, what we get to celebrate today is Christmas with our fantastic Facebook Fan, friend and guest designer, Jessica Fancher!

Several weeks ago I approached Jessica with asking her to be one of our guest designers for Mid Week Mojo.  When I asked her what she’d like to work with as far as product goes, she suggested something Christmas-y.  Luckily for her Melodee had the perfect steal already in the works, the Doodlebug Christmas Kit.

I asked Jessica to share a little bit about herself with us.  She writes:

First off I have to thank Kristy for asking me to be the Guest Sketcher this month.  I was very nervous because I am always the one doing the copying…..never the one being copied.  And thanks to Melodee for sending me the coolest kit ever!  It was so much fun to work with.

A little about me:  I have only been scrapbooking for a few years.  Before I started doing this, I never ever did anything like it.  My mom was always the crafty one, making my homecoming mums, school posters and etc.  Well, she asked me to go to a once a month scrapbooking get together at our church.  I had nothing and I just watched the first night.  Well, the next month I went again this time with a pre-made book, and I just added in my pictures.  Then I started acquiring more stuff, and started copying Lay-Outs, and eventually ended up here on my own doing them.  It was progression to say the least.

A little about my lay-out…..We always have Christmas with my Nana on Christmas Eve, and let me just tell you she goes all out on gifts, and gets the best of the best for EVERYONE!  I mean her Christmas tree looks like it threw up Christmas presents – literally!  We have always referred to her a “Nana-Claus” hence the title of my page.  It’s always as a great memory we will never forget!

Now about this amazing kit….The colors were simply brilliant and the embellishments were heavenly!  I loved the ribbon and the big buttons.  My circle embellishment with the jewel, I cut from one of the pages and used a puffy sticker to give it dimension.  I had a blast doing this layout and have actually done a couple more already with this paper.  I hope you like it and I can not see what y’all come with.

I love how Jessica used multiple, smaller photos for her layout.  I rarely scrapbook pages using standard sized photos, so this sketch design totally speaks to me!

I love how the tall rectangle photo could also be used for a perfect journaling spot.  I truly hope that I can find the time to get a layout done myself!

I just wanted to say thank you again to Jessica for taking on the challenge of being our guest sketcher for Mid Week Mojo this week.  I truly can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Remember to post your layouts to our Faceobok Fan Page or personal blog and leave a comment with a link to your page here on this blog post, by next Monday night at Midnight to be eligible for our weekly random drawing.

Also be sure to check back tomorrow night for a sneak peek of what we have coming up on Friday.  Something we are truly excited to bring to you!

As always….happy scrapping!

Mid Week Mojo #15 with a shiny new look! (Also Online Crop Challenge #1)

Mid Week Mojo #15 with a shiny new look! (Also Online Crop Challenge #1)

Wow.  Do you like the new look of our blog, or what?  Our Creative Genius Emily has been busy, making our blog a little more organized.  Take some time, and click around.  Hopefully you will find yourself right at home, because I have your seat waiting and a nice warm cup of hot cocoa waiting for you!  (Yes.  Can you believe it is snowing in Utah.  Ick!  Oh and stay tuned for a VERY exciting feature to our blog that should be popping up soon!)

I am SO excited about Today’s Steal, the Echo Park Halloween Collection.  That’s right.  ECHO PARK!  Can you believe that Miss Melodee worked her charm and brought to us the ever amazing and oh so sought after, Echo Park.  Yup.  She gets a high five, a star on her forehead and a 44 oz. Diet Mt. Dew for that one!

I know we have seen our fair share of Halloween goodness around the halls of ScrapbookSteals, but MMMMMMMMM….. I am totally in awe of today’s kit.  I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to scrapbook for this weeks Mojo, and was going to do a one pager.  However, these papers were screaming so much fun to me that my one pager turned into a 2 page, 6 – 4×6 photo layout.

I LOVE the patterns of the Echo Park Halloween Collection.  I admit, I’m deathly afraid of scrapping with nothing but patterned prints, yet the small prints on this collection didn’t seem to overwhelm my simple style.  Of course I am so in love with the dots, stars, webs, stripes, skulls and witchy boots that it was really hard to decide what to use.  I finally settled on a mix of 6 different sheets of paper.  (Did you catch that…*I* used SIX different sheets of patterned papers!)

The stickers that come with this kit are so much fun.  I think that Echo Park is BRILLIANT for combining small letter stickers and large letter stickers on the same sheet.  I mean how often are you looking for a small letter sticker to coordinate with a larger letter sticker.  No more need to search!  It’s all at your finger tips!

The other stickers in this collection are so much fun and the perfect addition to spice up a spooky layout.

Do you know what another absolutely FUN use would be for this kit is to create a ‘milk box’ haunted house.  I’ve never seen one of these done before, but while I was taking a stroll through our Facebook Fan Page one night I came across this DARLING Halloween House made by our talented friend Tara Gross.

Can you not imagine how cute one of these houses would be using the darling skull paper in the Echo Park kit?  Tara was kind enough to share more detailed images on her blog. Click here to see other amazing Halloween Craft decorating ideas from Tara.

Now for the exciting part of the MWM blog post.  Our winner from last week!

Brittany Perry was the lucky winner chosen by Random.Org.  It’s a good thing she remembered to comment!

I love how Brittany turned her MWM #14 into a 2 pager and made the wavy lines a sidewalk.  Seriously too cute!

Now don’t forget that this upcoming Friday is our on-line crop from 6 – 10 MST.   We will be having lots of fun, challenges and of course prizes.  In fact, MWM #15 is your first official challenge for the online crop.  Tomorrow I will post the additional 3 challenges so that you can get your scrappy caps on!

The rules for being eligible for the drawing remain the same.

* Layouts must be posted on our Facebook Fan Page, or personal blog by Monday, November 1st at Midnight.  (The midnight that comes at the end of the day.)

* You must return to THIS blog posting and leave a comment with a link to where your layout is posted.  I will be selecting a random winner from the comments posted on THIS blog post.

* Share, Share, Share!  If we hit 100 shares then we will have 2 random winners next week.  I know we tried hard last week, and sadly our share counter was having some problems, so this week is your chance to hit that 100!

Have fun scrapping!  Can’t wait to ‘see’ you all on Friday night during our video chat.  Well.  You can see us crazies in the warehouse.  Wish we could all be together!

Lucky MWM 13 on Lucky October 13! (And Lucky all of you….a guest sketch designer to boot!)

Wow.  Is today not filled with all sorts of lucky.  First off, it’s MWM #13, which ironically happens to fall on October 13th!  What’s also super lucky is that today our Mid Week Mojo is brought to you by our fantabulous fan, Cristine Redmond!

We have had this guest appearance in the works for weeks!  When I talked with Cristine about what she’d like to work with she thought Christmas product would be fun…and lo and behold, we had the perfect kit in mind for her.  Today’s steal, the KI Memories, Festive and Good Tidings Kits ended up being the perfect accompanyment to her darling Holiday photos!

For those of you that don’t know Cristine, I asked her to share a little blurb about herself with us.   She wrote:

I was so excited, honored, anxious (all of the above?!) when Kristy and Melodee invited me to give the über-talented Kristy a week off from doing the Mid-Week Mojo!  I find scrapbooking incredibly hard because I don’t have a creative eye at all!  I rely on sketches and scraplifting for almost every layout I do, so this was definitely a challenge for me to create a sketch AND a layout!

When I saw the kit I was going to work with for the Mojo, I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use.  Every year, we do some sort of picture in front of the tree (dogs – when we had them, our first daughter and now both of our girls).  Last year’s pictures were taken in matching pj’s and I thought the pictures would work well with some of the papers in this kit.  I love the olive greens and creams in a few of the papers.  They coordinate so nicely!  All of the papers are so versatile and some can work with non-Christmas themed layouts.

I ended up changing the size of my pictures after I made the sketch because I wanted to make the picture area more square.  And instead of writing the date on the side of the pictures (the box with the squiggly line), I chose to put it at the bottom of the page so I could use the sparkly glitter numbers from the kit.  Other than that, I stayed pretty true to the sketch.

I also decided to make a card because I was itching to do something with the sheet Kristy accurately described to me as being “placemat-like.”  I also used my i-top to create berries with another shimmery paper from this kit.

I hope everyone has fun creating and THANK YOU again to Kristy and Melodee for giving me the opportunity to guest sketch!

I love how Cristine’s sketch is very linear and holds 3 photos, plus a great journaling strip space.  (Can I just say that I love journaling strips!)  Thank you, thank you, thank you Cristine, for providing us with such amazing inspiration and for providing me with a little creative break, cause I have to tell you….I have something SUPER exciting in the works!

As always, one of my favorite parts of Mid Week Mojo is announcing the winner of our weekly drawing.  This week our winner is Chloe Rasch-Salerno.  I <3 this layout of her little lady at 4 months old!  In fact I’m so grateful to Random.Org for selecting her layout as I hadn’t had a chance to see this page yet!  I have to say that this sketch has been one of my favorites and Every.  Single.  Layout. has been utterly fantastic!   (You girls are so amazing.  It’s almost a full time job keeping up with all of your creative goodness!)

Now here is an important change to our Mid Week Mojo prize drawing process.  You can only imagine with the Monday Card Madness that it truly is madness sifting through all of the projects on our Facebook Fan Page to make sure that everything is given a fair chance for our drawing.

FROM HEREON OUT, after posting your layout to our Facebook Fan Page (or other on-line source) by midnight of the following Monday you will then need to make a comment on the coordinating MWM blog post, with the address of its location copied and pasted in your comment.  For instance, after creating the awesome MWM sketch #13, you will need to upload somewhere for us to oooooh and ahhhhh over, then copy and paste a link to where it is hosted in a comment made on THIS blog post.  That will make it leaps and bounds easier for me to make sure that everyone that created is included for the weekly prize drawing!  :-)  (Thank you for helping to salvage the few brain cells that I have left!  😉 )

Thanks again Cristine for taking on the challenge of being our guest sketch designer.  We already have another fantastic fan on slate for November!

As always…happy scrappin’!
