Basic Grey Hopscotch | Monday Card Madness #93

Ahhhh, the lazy days of summer. Today’s steal, the Basic Grey Hopscotch collection, takes me back to the days when the thrill of the summer was someone getting a new Hopscotch board painted on their driveway, and the smell of a brand new swirly hoppy taw. Sure, this probably dates me, but those are fond memories of my summer vacations clear back in the ::gasp:: 70′s.

While the Hopscotch collection makes me reminisce of my youth, there is absolutely nothing vintage 70′s about these papers. It’s such a whimsical, fun collection that evokes simpler times.

This collection is so much fun to play with! It was a collection I thought was really cute, but wow, once I got chopping the papers I didn’t want to stop!

I love the Basic Grey Ribbon Doilies and used them as the foundation of my card design. I started with the pennant design and came up with this card.

I love the pink butterfly/flower inspired trim and used it on my next card.

Of course I couldn’t leave the final doily trim unloved, so made this cute little “love you” card.

The chipboard pieces are won-der-ful. They actually stick and come in such a wide variety of shapes and designs. I used some of the border pieces to mimic the idea of the doilies in the previous cards.

Thank you, Basic Grey, for that fun and carefree crafting session!

Don’t forget there is a little more time to participate in the We R Memory Keepers Operation Write Home Card Drive. As a little incentive and a huge thank you to those participating, we have a lovely Red White and Blue Stack Pack that will be given to one random winner who participates in the Operation Write Home Card Drive.

Fiskars 3 in 1 Corner Squeeze Punch | Monday Card Madness #92

Today’s steal, the Fiskars 3 in 1 Corner Squeeze Punch, is one amazing tool. After all, what’s not to love about a triple-header option in one convenient handheld tool? It’s right up my alley since there aren’t easy to throw a handy-dandy tool with three different options in my crop bag.

I have to admit I may have had a little too much fun making cards this week. I started out with one idea, and then tried a little something else, and then it sort of morphed into another idea—ending up with five completely different cards. However, the one constant is just how well the Fiskars 3 in 1 Corner Squeeze Punch dressed up the corners of each of my cards.

First, I ended up using some of the scraps from last weeks Mid Week Mojo. I adore the little seashell type scallop and think it makes such a great addition!

Next, I used up a few more scraps from Studio Calico and mixed it up with some Basic Grey and My Mind’s Eye 6×6 pads. I tried out the fun dotted corner punch and I like that it’s a somewhat more masculine addition.

Then, of course I had to try out the tri-circle corner punch. I love how simple and delicate it is!

I guess the seashell design was really calling my name again, because I went back to that one and think it really compliments the feel of my card with the Lucky 8 punch rounded portion.

I finished things up with my favorite card of the bunch, and went back to the triple dot. Honestly can’t say enough good about this punch and the fact that it’s THREE IN ONE! Wow. Gotta love it!

So now you’re probably asking what the sketch is for this week. Ummmm. Let’s just say you get to choose! I’ll draw up one however for anyone printing them out for future reference. And who knows, maybe you’ll see one of the others as an official sketch next week.

Don’t forget that we are currently teamed up with We R Memory Keepers Operation Write Home Card Drive for a fantastic giveaway. We have a lovely Red White and Blue Stack Pack that will be given to one random winner who participates in the Operation Write Home Card Drive.

American Crafts Fresh Squeezed Collection | Monday Card Madness #91

American Crafts nailed it with the name of today’s steal, the Fresh Squeezed Collection. The happy blend of pinks and yellows splashed with the twists of blue and lime make me want to bust out a lemonade stand and try and make some money! Or at very least, help my kids set one up, take photos, and then scrap about it with these perfect papers. :)

Today I got to whet my appetite with this fun collection and create more cards for the Operation Write Home Card Drive.

The first card I made sort of laid the ground for the sketch this week. I started out with a horizontal format then moved to a vertical one.

I really love the color palate on this collection. It was a hard choice to decide which side of the amazing papers to use so in an effort to stretch it I based a few of my cards on plain cardstock and really love how they turned out! Add the cute stickers and dimensional embellishments and these cards came together in a snap!

I’m so thrilled to be sending these cards on so that they can brighten someone’s day!

Doodlebug Designs All Mixed Up Alpha Rub-ons | Monday Card Madness #90

“Please remind me one more time, I keep forgetting! I tell ya, it must be a mom thing as those kids have zapped all of my brain cells. Wait a minute. I have an idea! Will you please take these Doodlebug Designs All Mixed Up Alpha Rub-ons and just go ahead and rub the reminder right on my forehead so I don’t forget? Ahhh. That’s better.” :)

I don’t know about you, but I think rub-ons have got to be one of the greatest scrappy inventions since the paper trimmer! And what’s better is that today’s steal comes in a variety of sizes and colors to meet your every paper crafting need. I’m over the moon in love with these mini alphas when it comes to making cards. I love being able to add the perfect sentiment to my project with the flick of a popsicle stick!

Can you believe that we have been at our Monday Card Madness fun for NINETY weeks now? That just makes my brain wiggle to think about! I had a lot of fun with this week’s sketch because I love scallops and tags.

I love how easy the Doodlebug rub-ons made it to customize my cards, and the best part about these rub-ons is that they don’t love their neighbors when you apply them. You know the irritating rub-ons that leave a trace of everything even remotely close to the one you actually want to apply? Not Doodlebug Designs rub-ons. They are perfection.

I love ‘em!

Martha Stewart Edge Punch | Monday Card Madness #89

I’m gonna punch you!” Sadly, that’s a phrase I keep hearing exchanged between my boys now that summer is here. Won’t they be surprised when they hear “I’m gonna punch you” coming from my workroom? Granted, I’ll be talking to my paper, but that’s okay, right? With today’s steal, the Martha Stewart Edge Punches, I will be happily spouting off that phrase because I love border punches. What a snazzy and simple addition to cards and layouts alike! I truly cannot wait to steal them! Especially that Double Linked Trim.  Swoon!

Today we are in for a special sneak peek at the talents of upcoming summer design team member Kerys Sharrock.

I was so excited when Kristy asked me to make the cards for this week’s Monday Card Madness and even more excited when I saw what product she wanted me to use! Who doesn’t love Martha Stewarts punches?! I was given two double edge punches (I must admit to never having worked with these before – only the border and standard punches) and was told to create! They were so easy to use and I came up with endless possibilities following this week’s sketch.

The first card I made was using the daisy chain trim and the linked trim. I decided that the linked trim looked a little like a fence, so I paired it up with an image from The Paper Shelter (I must admit I didn’t color this one – when you purchase the digi from the shop you get both a colored and non-colored image – perfect when you are in a rush!) I added pink cardstock behind the punched border to make it stand out more and then highlighted the whole thing with green cardstock. I used the daisy chain trim both in the corner, and also cutting an individual flower to add to the twine. The papers are Echo Park’s Victoria Gardens collection.

I then made a card using Simple Stories Fabulous collection. I used the daisy chain trim for the border and then cut some more of the flowers from the border and popped them up on foam dots.

Getting completely carried away – I made two more cards! The first was using kraft and general cardstock, a variety of stamps and bling! I used the daisy chain trim with bling and cut out some of the individual flowers to highlight the stamped images.

And lastly, I love to make rosette flowers. I often use the border punches for a bit of variety and decided I would see how it came out using a double-edge punch. The answer – perfect! They are so easy to make and just adds a bit more dimension. I used basic colored cardstock, and by adding different widths of the brown over the border strip, you get a number of different effects.

The Martha Stewart punches are so versatile and easy to use, they make crafting a piece of cake! As you can see, they can used in a variety of ways, from making borders, making rosettes and flowers, using individual sections of the borders for embellishments, the list is endless. Just use your imagination and have fun!

Thank you so much Kristy and Scrapbook Steals for asking me to use these products. MS punches are definitely on my wish list now!

Kerys, your cards are truly exceptional! What a great pre-design-team treat. Thank you! And now I’m going to go hit that steal button because those edge punches are must have!
