I am so happy to be your guest designer today for the fabulous Hip Hip Hooray collection from Pebbles. The colors in this collection are so vibrant and inspiring to create fun and happy cards! Here are just a few  projects I created just for you!

For this very dimensional card, I used Pebbles Dimensional Flowers and Banner Kit to create a colorful focal point on this card. The patterned papers called WooHoo, set the base for all the fun. With a stamped sentiment, a few additional embellishments and fun border punched at the bottom, it’s sure to make someone have a happy day.

Make a Wish is another another colorful card! Using Let’s Party patterned paper as a base, the sky’s the limit with how you can design with this collection. Placing the bright yellow dimensional flowers on top of a die cut really makes it pop! A handmade banner from cardstock with distressed edges creates more texture. Add the perfect stamped sentiment, and it’s ready to go!

Last but not least, the ultimate celebration card! I cut out individual sentiments from the Surprise patterned paper and layered each one on top of the Let’s Party base. Top with banners of your choice from the Banner Kit, add a little bling and Celebrate!

I absolutely loved working with this collection and if you love color, whimsy and just plain fun, I think you will too!

I would love to have you stop by my blog at Julie’s Open Window and check out the fine details on how these cards were created. Enjoy blog hops, tutorials, color challenges and so much more when you visit.

A big thanks to for welcoming me!

Pebbles, Inc. Country Picnic | Monday Card Madness #77

Gather round, gather round card makers! It’s not every day that we are treated to a guest blogger like the Paper Crafts Go-To Gal, Teri Anderson who totally rocked the house with today’s steal, Country Picnic by Pebbles, Inc.

If you don’t know Teri you are in for an absolute treat. Teri has got to be one of the kindest, funniest, and most definitely wittiest people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! She holds a special place in my heart as our professional crafty roots had our starts together back in 2003, and it is a delight to showcase her today at ScrapbookSteals!

Hi everyone — what fun is the Country Picnic collection!

I just love the happy feel of it. Throw in flowers, cute tags and a pretty color scheme, and it makes a great collection for making a whole lot of happy, cheery cards.

I literally laid this steal in its full glory out on my desk and just spent a morning making card after card with it. I couldn’t stop. It’s so easy to mix the papers with the embellishments and the letter stickers.

I mean, check these out.

I also made a tiny set of monogram cards with it.

They are simple little notecards. Each a 3 ½” square with a strip of patterned paper, a couple circles cut from patterned paper and a letter sticker monogram on it.

And here’s the fun part! I used the packaging from the package of layered paper flower to put them in.

I stuffed the cards inside the package and then threw on a few panels of patterned paper on the outside. I finished things off by adding a tag, which I added one of those lovely flowers to.

Pebbles Ever After | Mid Week Mojo

Topaz Club — Layout 3

Ahhh, I love Wednesdays. I love them even more when we have such a great product like today’s steal, the Pebbles Ever After collection. It just doesn’t get any better when you add the fact that we have a very talented guest sketcher today, Kristy MacKeen!

Kristy, the floor is all yours!

Wow, I can’t believe I am here, about to give you the Topaz 3 sketch!!!  Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojos have been a primary source of inspiration for my scrapbook pages. I hadn’t even scrapped a page until the MWMs started. When Kristy asked me if I would be a guest designer, I was sitting in my grandparents’ living room and I think they thought I had lost my mind because I was giggling so much. ::somebody pinch me:: It is a lot of pressure to live up to Kristy’s wonderful sketches and all the other great guest designers. I hope I was able to do that.

When she sent me a picture of what I would be working with and I was so excited. And then I got the Pebbles, Inc. Ever After in my hot little hands, I was even more excited. The colors are so pretty and I love the textures and glitter on the pages (yes, the glitter sticks). I started looking through the pictures and realized I didn’t have any “princess” or “prince” pictures, so I set out to shoot some. Of course, my favorite subjects wouldn’t cooperate with what I originally had in mind. Then I realized I had just purchased Hailey’s first magic wand, so I knew what I had to do…

When I see a magic wand, I immediately think of Cinderella and the saying Bippity, Boppity, Bo!

So, Bippity, Boppity, Bo!  Here is my layout.

When Kristy told me this was a fully packed kit, she was right!  The gems, enamel and layered stickers add a lot of fun to a layout.

The flower brads are so pretty and have a sparkle to them.  And they fit in a scrapbook without a problem.

I also thought of all those cute little boys we have in the ScrapbookSteals family, so I immediately wanted to show that this kit can be used for a boy layout as well.

I have always seen these cute little hat pins that come with kits.  I was so happy to get a chance to use some:

One great little bonus of the Pebbles paper is the little tears offs at the bottom of each page.  One side has the paper name, and the other side has a complete strip of patterned paper.  No waste!

I hope you like this kit as much as I did. I can’t wait to see what you create with this layout. Just be sure to have a lot of fun. That is what it is all about!

Kristy, all I can say is WOW. You rocked it girl! Thank you SO much for sharing your talents with us. It’s been such a delight to see you grow over the past year with your layouts. You’re one talented lady, that’s for sure!

Now it’s time for our weekly drawing. Charity Hotrum-Becker, you are our lucky random winner!

Charity, if you’ll send your address in an email to, we will be happy to get a prize sent out to you.

Pebbles Inc. Chalk Pencils = Love

I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect with today’s steal, the Chalk Pencils, by Pebbles, Inc.  After having the chance to play with them I can honestly say if you are a chalk lover you will want these and may never look back at your standard chalks again!

Here are a few of the fun things that I did with the chalk pencils.

I first wanted to show how easily you can change the the shade of embossed paper. No more fumbling with cotton puffs or cotton swabs. Simply sketch lightly over the paper and the raised portions will change color while the indentations will remain the original color. You can see on this sheet of paper where I used all of the pencils offered in today’s steal.

I decided to apply that same technique to this layout that I made using Erin Colby’s amazing Mid Week Mojo sketch. You can see where I shaded only the center portion of the layout with a pink pencil, to give it a different color than the rest of the sheet. I also slightly shaded the outer edges of the paper with a brown pencil.

You can see in these close-up shots where I used the pencils to add a little definition around the journaling blocks as well as the strips of paper.

I was having so much fun with the shading embossed designs technique that I made a couple of cards. This first card I shaded the brown cardstock with a brown pencil to offer some slight variation and depth.

I then decided to take a simple white silk flower and shade it so that it coordinated with my card.

Here’s the final card that I made, by mixing two shades of chalk pencils on the front of the card.

I truly had a blast creating with the Pebbles Chalk Pencils and was pleasantly surprised with the results. If you’re a chalk lover then don’t even think twice about picking these up! Just think of all of the fun you can have, blending things up with not only your layouts and cards but with all of your stamping projects as well.

I hope you have a great weekend. Check in on Monday for your next Monday Card Madness.

Monday Card Madness #23 + Chalking Basics

Monday Card Madness #23 + Chalking Basics

Did you know that you can use chalk on your crafty projects?  Today’s steal, the Pebbles Chalk Mega Kit is the perfect collection to have on hand for adding a little color to your project.

Let me show you some simple steps for putting the chalking technique into action.

While it’s entirely possible to use chalks by themselves, I prefer using them with Versamark ink which gives the chalk a little better hold to your project.

After adding the ink to the top sides of my shapes, I used the stylus and pom poms included with the Pebbles Chalks to add color to my project.

I love how easy it is to customize the colors on a project with using chalk.

One of the things that I love about the Pebble’s chalks over any of the other brands I’ve used before is the two-toned color palate.  This takes the guess work out of what colors to use to add dimension to your project.

I also used the two-toned technique in creating the layered flower on this card.

Please keep sharing your Monday Card Madness creations on our Facebook fan page or your personal blog. Leave a comment here with a link to your creation and you will be eligible for our monthly drawing of a little scrappy prize.

We’d like to shout out a huge congrats to Brenda Smith, our lucky random card winner for February.
