How To’sday: T-shirt Makeover by Cristine Redmond

It’s How To’sday again!  I love featuring ideas from you crafty divas. Today’s how to comes to us from Cristine Redmond with a fun idea for a t-shirt makeover.

—————————-

My daughter has a cute, magenta-colored shirt that has been collecting dust in her closet, so I decided to alter it to make a Valentine’s Day shirt for her.

Using my Silhouette, I created this template using a rhinestone pattern. It originally only had two hearts, but I altered it to make three. I taped the template down to the shirt to make sure it didn’t move while I was placing the rhinestones.

I placed the i-rock rhinestones in the holes of my template using a wet q-tip.

Once all of the rhinestones were in place, I secured them using my i-rock. I secured them with the template in place first, just in case they moved or didn’t stick. Then I removed it and went over them all again just to make sure they were really stuck on the shirt.

This is the final product!  I love love love how it turned out and my daughter is super excited to have a “new” shirt. I definitely had fun using my new toys! :)

I was so inspired by Cristine’s idea to mesh together the functions of the Silhouette and the iRock that I used her idea to make this St. Patrick’s Day Card.

Thank you Cristine for your great tutorial!

If you’d like to see your how to featured on an upcoming How To’sday, you can email directions and photos to kristy@stealnetwork.com. We’d love to put you in the spotlight.

Check in tomorrow for our next Mid Week Mojo sketch, featuring a layout about my latest addiction, Words With Friends.

Have a great day!

I think there is a little Chill in the Air…MCM #6

I think there is a little Chill in the Air…MCM #6

So I have to tell you that  today is the *perfect* creating weather.  It’s gloomy and doomy outside, so what better way to spend some time than snuggied up creating!

I have been dying all weekend to get my hands on today’s steal, the WINTER Creative Charms Collection.

Even though I despise snow with every ounce of my being (and yes, I even saw the dreaded white stuff flying today), I LOOOOOOOOOOVE snowflake embellishments, and today’s steal is of no exception.

Thankfully that kit alone, saved this weeks MCM.

I’m sure we are all in the same boat from time to time, where being creative kind of hurts your brain.  I feel like mine slipped or something because the creative vibes were sort of a challenge today.  Truth be told, I think it’s the post vacation energy flop.  ;)

I really wanted to keep this weeks sketch fairly simple as I am so in love with the snowflake border in the Creative Charms kit, that I wanted to make sure that it was a big focus of the card.  Of course I had to get a little bit busy with my Silhouette and cut out one of the snowflakes that came with the machine.  I added a little silver ink and the amazing Creative Charms bling ‘brrr’, popped a gem brad in the center of the snowflake and sure enough..done!  (Truth be told, I’m feeling a bit better about it right now.  My 13 year old just walked in and ooohed and ahhhhhhhhhd over it.  What a good girl.  Or maybe I just have her trained well.  HA HA!  ;)  )

I then made another card tweaking the sketch slightly.

I also couldn’t resist playing a little more with my Silhouette and decided to download a fun winter tree design.  I added the snowflake gems from the Creative Charms kit as well as some of the gradient gems then finished it off with another blingy sentiment!

Keep your projects coming!  We LOOOOOOOVE seeing what you create.  Remember to have your MCM #6 posted online or to our Facebook Fan Page with a link provided in the comments of this posting for your chance to be eligible to randomly win this months batch of cards.
