Fancy Pants Designs Transparencies | How To’sday

So you’re smitten with transparencies and love adding them on top of a layout, but really want to get a little more use out of them. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with snazzing up a layout with one snappy step, there is so much more to these thin sheets of plastic than meets the eye.

Today Staci Jones shows us fun new ways you can use transparencies like the ones in today’s steal, the Fancy Pants Designs, Paper, Transparency and Sticker collection.

• • • • •

Transparency.  Some may cringe when it is listed in a kit, but have no fear- the possibilities are endless! When Kristy asked me to do a how-to with transparencies, I dug out some of my favorites from Fancy Pants and got to work.

Transparencies could easily be affixed to a piece of plain cardstock and then jazzed up with some Stickles to make a quick and easy background.

The picture could be adhered on top of the transparency…

….or underneath for a cool effect.

If using the whole transparency isn’t appealing, just cut out elements for borders or embellishments on a layout.

Cut them up and they are a great addition to card making.

Think beyond the traditional scrappy projects and they are great for home decor…

…and fun kids room decor.

So what are you waiting for? Steal today and be sure to share your fun projects on ScrapbookSteal’s Facebook page. I would love to see what you create. Thanks for having me today!

Staci, you ooze talent girl! Thanks so much for sharing your projects with us today!

Fancy Pants Designs Chipboard Banner Sets | How To’sday

What party doesn’t need that little extra something? What home doesn’t need that little extra splash of decor? Well,  Fancy Pants Designs Chipboard Banner Sets are a great place to start! What’s not to love about a sturdy, high-quality chipboard banner that can be decorated to stand the test of time? Just think of the options! Birthday parties, baby showers, summer, 4th of July… Sheesh, I think I’d even like to create a fun Halloween themed banner!

Today we are thrilled to have Becci Manies, the banner queen herself, show us how to make a cute summer banner with today’s steal.

• • • • •

First, I gather a variety of products to place on the chipboard banner pieces, both large and small, hard and soft, flat and dimensional. I like to gather most of my products before I start my project, then I choose from the pile to create each banner piece.

I prepare the elements that I am going to use by inking, sanding, tying twine on or assembling die cuts as needed.

I like to layer everything on to the banner piece before adhering any of the layers together.

I like to curl pieces (as shown) to make the parts stand off of the banner piece and add dimension beacuase I don’t like everything to look flat.

I layer and tuck the elements together until the piece looks pretty full.

Here are all of my elements layered together on one banner piece.

I decided to ink the edges of the flower print scallop circle. Then I was happy with the banner piece and I started to glue the items together.

I use a mixture of foam adhesive, Tombo glue, and Zots glue dots to arrange the elements at different levels.

I prepared each letter by sanding the edges and tying a piece of twine around it.

After you arrange and layer each banner panel you string it together with a piece of ribbon and you have a completed banner!

Thank you so much Becci. Your banner is beautiful!

Fancy Pants Designs Summer’s End | Mid Week Mojo

Turquoise – Layout 3

The first time I laid eyes on today’s steal, the Fancy Pants Summer’s End collection, it was pretty much love at first sight. The gorgeous combination of muted oranges, blues and greens, really spoke to my crafty soul. While the name of the collection connotes the wrapping up of lazy days with a hint of crispness to the air, I found this collection to work delightfully with a recent outing with my three favorite boys on one of the warmest days we’ve recently had. Sheesh, I love a good versatile collection!

The embellishments in this collection were a dream to work with. Even though some may shun the flowers on a “boy” layout, after having three girls first, I just can’t break the habit and I love how the filter paper embellishments could be crumpled up a little bit to create a flower.

And of course, banners, my current addiction along with using Instagram prints. :)

I was so in love with this collection that I whipped together this layout of my “Tuba Friend” in about 20 min. Not sure if I love or hate it, but still fun to have a quick layout done about my oldest who is currently learning how to play the tuba/sousaphone.

As far as Fancy Pants Designs go, I think they have settled on perfection. :)

And now that happy time of day I get to announce the lucky random winner of last week’s Mid Week Mojo. This week Staci Jones is our winner with this adorable Halloween layout.

Fancy Pants Beach Babe and Beach Bum | Mid Week Mojo

Amethyst – Layout 7

Hooray for Wednesday! I love Mid Week Mojo and the opportunity that we have each week for a new inspirational layout sketch. I love even more when it’s guest sketcher week because it’s incredibly rewarding to me to turn the reins loose and let one of our amazing community members take the spotlight and shine! I think you’ll agree completely that Kyla Norris has done an exceptional job with the Beach Babe and Beach Bum collections by Fancy Pants. These collections are splendidly sunny and summery and make me want to bust out a paper chain to count down the days until school is out! (Did I really just say that?)

Now it’s turn to sit back, relax and soak in the talents of Kyla.

• • • • •

Hi There! Kyla here, and oh my goodness I can’t say how excited and nervous I am about today! Back in February Kristy contacted me and asked if I would like to create a sketch for the Mid Week Mojo’s. After promptly bursting into tears, being so excited and so happy I answered with a huge YES, I’d Love to!!!

I was absolutely thrilled when I found out that I’d be able to work with both Beach Bum and Beach Babe by Fancy Pants. These collections are so versatile and the colours are vibrant, warm and they make you feel happy by just looking at them! They also come loaded with so many fun goodies to work with that it was hard to know where to get started first!

My family and I live up in Quebec, Canada and the nearest ocean or “real beach” is a good 14 hour plus drive for us—but even with the theme of these kits being beach inspired, they truly work for any layout. I started working with Beach Bum and found some papers with rich greens and blues that would work perfectly with some photos that were taken at our cottage last summer by the lake. All the die cut embellishments were awesome to accent the photos, and I was able to keep a woodsy/cottagey feel to the layout with the trees, cloud, sunshine and water wave pieces.

I had more photos of Oliver throwing cups of water around at the cottage so I created a second page, this time using the Beach Bum paper flowers and brads as accents.

Next I moved on to Beach Babe. I seriously adored the fun summery pinks, blues and oranges in this collection. I really wanted to come up with a way to show how summery papers can still be used for non summery photos. Enter Canadian Winter! On Family Day this year, we ventured out to visit Winterlude, our local winter festival. With photos of snow sculptures in mind, here is the second sketch for this week.

To “freeze” up the warm colours of the Beach Babe papers, I heat embossed all the edges with clear sparkly, and silver embossing powders and used some Shimmerz paint. The blue fuzzy trim doubles as snow balls and I used the wave rub on to look like a blustery wintery wind while the blue flower rub on in the top corner and the starfish on the bottom could be mistaken for snowflakes *wink*.

I couldn’t just stop there, there are so many cute things to work with in these kits, I wanted to create some more. While chit chatting about today, Kristy had told me awhile back that today is extra special, as it’s her darling girl’s Birthday! With that in mind, I wanted to use some Beach Babe chipboard banner pieces and ribbon to make a card for the Birthday Girl! A Thank You card came together with some more chipboard pieces, ribbon and brads.

Along with all the amazing embellies, I was able to work with the Summer Soiree Stamps. Using some distress inks and embossing techniques, I used some stamps to make an Anniversary card for my Mum and Dad. I also used some embossing powders and the stamps on this layout I put together.

A few fellow Scrappy Sisters and I started a Circle Journal many months ago, for my “page” I used some more Beach Babe. I loved the older girly pattern and the die cut flowers and mini brads were super cute to add a little detail.

Last but not least, I combined both Beach Bum and Beach Babe together to make a 6×6 Mini Album for summer photos! The two different collections blend so well together! I used some past MWM sketches to create some pages and then used the Cinch to bind it all!

I can’t wait to see what everyone creates this week and Thank you so much for letting me be a part of the Mid Week Mojo Experience!

Kyla, you absolutely spoiled us with your creations! And you are so thoughtful to have sent my sweet Sarah a birthday card. I absolutely cannot thank you enough and cannot wait to see what pops up on our Facebook fan page this week using your sketches as inspiration.
