Wow! I am so happy to be back here at ScrapbookSteals to share some of my scrappy creations.  When I opened up my goodies, I was thrilled to find that I would be working with Echo Park’s For the Record 2 Collection.  Up here in Canada we have some pretty long, cold, and gloomy winters!  This gorgeous collection is just what I needed to beat the winter blues.  The colors are simply pure sunshine.  It is also and incredibly versatile, and could be used for many different themes.

For my first project I decided to make this little “Dates to Remember” mini book.  It’s the perfect size to carry around, so while out shopping, it’s quick and easy to check out who you need to shop for.

My next creation is a layout of my darling granddaughter Blake.  A few weeks ago I spotted this amazing layout on Pinterest and knew it was the perfect inspiration for the photo I wanted to use.  I have always wanted to ‘doodle’ on a layout but could never get it to look right.  But I decided to jump in and give it a try and I am super pleased with the way it turned out.

Because the colors in the collection are so rich and cheerful I wanted to use them to brighten up my scrapbook space.  I like to keep a ‘catch-all’ box on my desk to throw the supplies I am using in, until I finish a project.  So this clear little bin I had was transformed into a little piece of art.  I also just couldn’t resist decorating a jar to match. It’s perfect for pens, markers etc.

Lastly, I made this sweet little card.  For The Record 2 comes with stunning Element Stickers and letters, Chipboard Accents, Layered Chipboard, and Decorative Brads.  They make creating cards super easy and fun fun fun!

Thank you Kerys and ScrapbookSteals for this opportunity to share my projects with you.  ScrapbookSteals is like a second home to me <3

Echo Park Everyday Eclectic | Mid Week Mojo

Mid Week Mojo Layout-Coral 5

Today’s steal, the Echo Park Everyday Eclectic collection, will forever be a very special steal for me as this will be my last official Mid Week Mojo as an employee of Most definitely an eclectic array of emotions have gone into creating this layout for you today. And I won’t lie—a whole lotta tears too! You know, those pesky happy/sad tears. Happy to relive the memories, but sad to hang up the hat.

I thought it so fitting to scrapbook a photo of all of the retreat attendees outside of the warehouse. The title of “Thank You” is more than fitting as I have to honestly thank EACH and EVERY one of you for touching my life, lifting me up, sharing your families, putting up with my quirks, letting me share my life, allowing me to inspire you, but most of all for being genuine friends I would do anything for. I love you all.

This collection that is so happy and colorful, fun and filled with that favorite print of mine—chevrons— and was perfect to create a layout that is filled with so. many. memories. The mix of neutrals and brights really work beautifully together and the entire collection is bursting with gorgeous patterns. I love the fab-ness of this collection, so here are some close up shots to show how wonderful it really is.

Thank you my sweet scrappy friends. I’ll be hanging out still on ScrapbookSteals Facebook page. :) I won’t be far!

Echo Park Note to Self | Mid Week Mojo

Turquoise – Layout 6

EEEEK! It’s guest sketcher time again and that means we get to enjoy some pretty outstanding talent.  Added bonus is that this week’s sketch is a TWO-pager because I know so many of you have been dying to get your hands on one. :) You can thank the ever-so-talented Julie Koets for this week’s Mid Week Mojo using today’s steal, the Echo Park Note To Self Collection. I can personally thank Julie for making my wallet just a little lighter—one look at her darling layout with the “view master” embellies and I was sold!

I was over the moon excited when Kristy Lee invited me to be a guest sketcher at ScrapbookSteals. I’ve played along with their weekly sketch challenges for over a year and have been inspired, motivated, and challenged along the way. In addition to scoring great deals on scrapbook supplies, I’ve made some great friends and have received tons of encouragement from the fans and staff at Scrapbook Steals.

Before I found this site, I must confess that I had never worked from a sketch. If you’d look at my old scrapbooks, you’d see what I mean—I was the queen of busy patterned paper, covered with a zillion matted photos cut into crazy shapes with deco scissors. Now I’ve come so far, looking forward to every Wednesday when the new sketch is revealed.

I was thrilled to learn that I would get to use the Note to Self collection from Echo Park, one of my favorite manufacturers. The papers looked fabulous online, but I was absolutely blown away when I saw them in person. The colors are great, with neutral brown, camel and creams, soft blues and grays, and fun pops of red. The hardest part for me was deciding which side of the double sided paper to use. There are so many great patterns!

This collection features great journaling cards, fun viewmaster images, and super cute stickers to finish off your masterpieces. My absolute favorite thing about this collection is the emphasis on family, memories, and moments. That’s what I’m all about! As a busy mom working full time outside of the home, I truly cherish the time I get to spend with my family. I love that this collection helps document “everyday life” in such an amazing way.

I had so much fun creating this sketch! I love two page multi-photo layouts featuring 4×6 photos, so I knew that I had to go big. But for those of you who are intimidated by two pagers, never fear! I created this sketch with you in mind, as you’ll notice that you can easily modify this into a single page layout by simply doing either half. Feel free to modify, adjust photo sizes, and add different shapes to suit your fancy.

With all of those beautiful papers, I couldn’t help but make a few more things. I do not consider myself a card maker, but I was able to put some scraps to good use and came up with a few thank you cards. I love the paper that looks just like cork and I think this collection is perfect for making “masculine” cards!

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Just be sure to upload your completed layout to the Scrapbook Steals Facebook page, and include a link in the comment section of this post by Monday, June 11 at midnight MST to be entered to win a scraptastic prize. I’d love for you to visit my blog, Crafty Goodness, to see my past creations and learn more about me. Thanks for giving me a chance to inspire you!

Echo Park Hello Summer Banner

That’s it. After seeing what today’s amazing guest blogger Shanna Vineyard has created with today’s steal, the Echo Park Hello Summer collection, I am officially boycotting turning on the heater, wearing jackets and folding socks. The happy rainbow of hues in Hello Summer make me actually long to hear the tinkling of the ice cream man making his rounds. At least the for the first time. 😉

Just wait until you see what Shanna has created and you’ll be longing itching for summer too!

I am so excited to be a guest blogger today!  I have to admit I was even more excited when I ripped into my package of goodies and saw what line I was lucky enough to be working with.

I’m a huge Echo Park fan like so many others of you out there. But their “Hello Summer” line is for sure in my top three favorites! I’m a sucker for the color palette they used and all the happy and bright images that can’t help but make your projects fun!

For my main project I chose to create a fun summer banner that I cut out of ¼” wood then altered.  The sweet little banner border sticker in this set was what inspired me!  Once I cut five banners from wood using my scroll saw, I drilled the holes to thread the twine through and painted them white. Next I covered the fronts with some of the fabulous papers from “Hello Summer” and then went to work adding all the fun embellishments. Last I threaded the dark brown hemp/jute through the banners to pull it together and make it hang. This was a super fun and easy project. Be sure to check out my blog for further details on the banner.

I’m a big fan of cardmaking too!  I couldn’t help but create a few sweet summery greetings with this line as well.  Hope these make you smile!
