Welcome ScrapbookSteals.com Winter Design Team!

I am so excited to announce the lovely ladies that will be our Winter Design Team!  The decision was not easy, but I think you’ll agree we’re in for a treat as we receive inspiration from the amazing Lisa Spiegel, Cristine Redmond and Bev Code!

Please join me now for a little meet and greet with these creative, crafty geniuses! I asked each of the ladies a few questions to help break the ice so we could get to know each of them just a little bit more.

First off let’s meet Lisa Spiegel. Lisa comes to us from sunny California. I wish I could be there right now, rather than here in the cold!

I’m Lisa Spiegel and I live with my hubby of 20 years and our three girls ages 17, 15 and 10.  I have been scrapping in some form since I could write, but the “safe” way since my oldest daughter was born.  When I’m not scrapbooking, I’m a Girl Scout leader and Lamaze Childbirth Educator, but I am usually scrapbooking, talking to others about scrapbooking or finding inspiration for scrapbooking- I think it’s safe to say I’m a little obsessed with scrapbooking. :)  I’m so excited and delighted to be on the ScrapbookSteals.com Winter Design Team and look forward to sharing all I love of this hobby.

1. Who is your favorite manufacturer?

It is always such a hard question, and I’m always hard pressed to pick just ONE manufacturer to be my favorite…but I can narrow it down to two! My Mind’s Eye and Basic Grey are just the BEST.  I just love how easily everything comes together when I’m working with their products. I never get tired of working with them and I am just in awe of how they always seem to out-do themselves with their new releases!

2. Why do you scrapbook?

>I scrapbook for several reasons, but the most important one is to preserve my family’s memories.  The *real* reason, though, is I just love it.  I love being crafty, I love taking photographs, I love capturing little bits of life and telling our stories with a less than obvious event style history.

3. What is your go to treat for scrapping?

I don’t often eat while I’m scrapbooking, but if I did, it would have to be Swedish Fish.  They don’t get my fingers sticky and they are so yummy!

Next up is  Cristine Redmond. If you are a regular on the Scrapbook Steals Blog or have attended the Scrapbook Steals Retreat, then you will know Cristine and her amazing work! She joins us from the Kansas City area.

When Kerys emailed me to say that I had been chosen for the Winter Design Team, I kind of felt like I had come full-circle in the world of ScrapbookSteals.com (as much as one could without actually working there).  I have been a fan of ScrapbookSteals since purchasing my first steal of Pebbles Chalks in January of 2010.  I have met many amazingly talented women through the SS Facebook page and feel blessed to call them my friends.  And I was lucky enough to be able to attend the ScrapbookSteals Crop this past October and meet the wizards behind the curtain.  :)  I feel truly honored to have been chosen and I hope I do this team justice!  No pressure, right?!

I am a stay-at-home mom to my two precious red head girls (6 and 3.5) and I love my job.  I have been paper crafting for about seven years, but seriously for about three years.  I started out doing mostly scrapbook layouts, but have recently ventured into the world of card making in the last year and a half or so. I would describe my style as classic-chic.  I always try to be as genuine and authentic as possible.  I am an honest scrapper and take pride in scrapping my family’s memories.  I might not do things the “right” way or the way everyone else does them, but I always give my projects my heart and soul.

1. Who is your favorite manufacturer?

I seem to grab a lot of My Mind’s Eye from my stash.  Especially from their 6×6 paper pads because they are so versatile and great for card making.

2. Why do you scrapbook?

My sole motivation for crafting has to be because I love what I do.  Looking through a scrapbook is a lot more interesting and personal than thumbing through a photo album.  Handing someone a handmade card is lot more personal than running out and buying the first card you look at.  It makes me happy to put memories on paper and to send someone a heartfelt, personalized card.  You just don’t get these kinds of highs from other jobs.  Or at least I haven’t. :)

3. What is your go to treat for scrapping?

Anything sweet or chocolatey.  I’m not picky.  More often than not it is plain m&m’s.

I am so happy to be on the Winter DT and can’t wait to get started!

Lastly we have the ever so talented Bev Code as a part of our Winter Design Team. Bev is the ‘Jack-of-all-trades’ – she scraps, she crafts, she does it all! Bev joins us from the hot and sunny Florida shores, although she can also be found in Ontario, Canada!

Hi, I am so excited to be part of this amazing team at ScrapbookSteals! What a wonderful opportunity. My name is Bev Code and I have been scrapping for about 4+ years. I am a wife, mother and gramma that loves being retired and now have time to scrap to my heart’s content. I live in Conestogo, Ontario and spend some time in Florida where I take my scrapping with me for the extended time. Family and friends are the subjects of my creativity whether it be an album page or a gift that I made for them.
1. Who is your favorite manufacturer ?

OK, bad question because I don’t have just a few – I love them all. It’s only recently that I have had the opportunity to use more up-to-date product and matching accents and I am in awe of all of them. There isn’t too much affiliated with this craft that I don’t like.

2. Why do you scrapbook?

I want to preserve our memories for the future generations. I don’t have that from my past except a few photos and so many without names. So my scrapping will share all that I remember from my timeline and slightly before to my great greats down the road. It is fun and relaxing and allows my creative mojo to flow to my pages.

3. What is your go to treat for scrapping?
Am I only allowed one? I love lots of go-to treats but depends what is available at the time. Red licorice, bridge mixture, coffee and a donut, or coffee and a cookie… need I go on? Just have to be careful not to spread it over my pages.

Looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you better.

American Crafts Soho Garden

I love what Fall Design Team member Amy Coose has done with today’s steal, the American Crafts Soho Garden collection. It is such a bright and colorful collection, with so many adorable embellishments. She definitely ROCKED it! Get ready to be inspired…

I was excited to get the American Crafts Soho Garden line to create with for November.  As soon as it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that it was even better in person.  I used it to create a card and two layouts.
This is the card that I created.  The Bits Layered Tags made creating this card super simple.  I just added some Cardstock Stickers and Layered Embellishments, and it was finished.
I love the amazing patterns in this line.  The yellow made a perfect base for this picture of my baby boy.  The “you are my sunshine” layered chipboard sticker, the layered tag, and some ribbon were all I needed to complete this layout.
I wrote out my journaling on the journaling box that is included on the Cardstock Stickers sheet.
I used another piece of the Soho Garden cardstock as a base for this layout.  I loved that I could write my journaling right on the lines.
I used my cameo to cut out some stars and the title, and accented it with some of the Cardstock Stickers, Layered Chipboard Stickers, and the Fabric Stickers.  How cool is it that you get all those textures in one line??
I really enjoyed using this collection, and the fun patterns, colors, and textures that are included made it the perfect collection for almost any craft project!
