Crate Paper Acorn Avenue & On Trend Collections

Next up for our Winter Design Team is Bev Code! Today’s steal, the Crate Paper Acorn Avenue and On Trend Collections are two adorable collections. The ‘Acorn Avenue collection’ is more of a fall collection with colors and patterns to match. Bev chose the ‘On Trend collection’, which is full of bright, contrasting colors and patterns and she certainly did a great job on showcasing it!

Hi everyone, its Bev here with you today and I’m so excited to be sharing this Crate Paper On Trend Collection! It is is full of bold contrasts, fun florals, toned down collection of cream and black designs. What a variety to choose from to make crafting so fun and easy with so many alternatives. I started with this fun blue print and added the cream black patterns along with the pop of yellow.

Below in the close up you can see a few details. The punched borders in navy cardstock backed the photos. I then added lots of fun On Trend accents and stickers…a touch of twine, brads and some bling.

Next I lightened things up with fun floral and matching striped folded Chevrons, lots of layers, a banner with twine, a tag and stickers.

Now here is a cute tag with lots of ribbon tails.

I followed the same colour theme and then made this card…popped the floral with sentiment, added a banner, layeres, brads and some doodling.

On the last layout I grabbed the green print, a touch of chevron strips and lots and lots of sticker accents that made some really fun clustered sections. I then added some black outlining and more doodling.

Now for the last project — a fun card using bright and bold floral along with the black and cream print. A few sticker layers, some brads, and inking.

In this other view of the card you now can see it’s an easel card…and the added punched border and floral paper makes the base to stand the card up.

As you can see I had an amazing time with this kit. All the color options, the numerous number of projects that I got made and oh yes…I still have some pieces left to play with.
Thanks for viewing today. I had a great time and am thrilled to be able to share with you!

American Crafts Blog Idea Blowout!

If you’re like me you’ll be absolutely exuberant over today’s steal, the American Crafts Brands Archive Spectacular. American Crafts pretty much equals scrappy love. Top it off with ScrapbookSteals’ Super Hero Shippers and, well, resistance is futile!

In an effort to spark those ideas and enable a little more purchasing (your husband said it was okay), I’ve put together easy links to some of my favorite blog posts by all four of the American Crafts companies.

Sit back, enjoy, and do a little blog surfing while you try and decide exactly which products you need. (Want isn’t really an issue, we all know it’s a need.)

Crate Paper Little Boy Blue | Monday Card Madness #98

Today’s steal, The Crate Paper Little Boy Blue collection, couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I have a few friends whose babies are about to make their grand appearance into the world, so it’s time to make some cards! I love this particular collection because it’s perfect for baby-related things without being traditional “baby.” That scores some pretty big bonus points in the design world.

I decided to base the design of the card off one of the cut-out cards from the “Oliver” sheet of paper. It’s such a fun sheet to design with as there are so many different directions your card can take from simply choosing a different “card.”

I liked the bold red and the “congratulations” of this particular card.

I put one of the diecut wooden pieces to use on this card.

There are so many fun dimensional designs in the Little Boy Blue collection that I replaced the “cards” on these two creations with some of the stand out embellishments.

And last but not least, I had fun making a card using this collection that is completely 100% non-baby related!

Hooray for versatile collections!

And hooray for what you girls have been creating using the Monday Card Madness sketches. Keep it up!

Crate Paper Pretty Party | Mid Week Mojo

Turquoise – Layout 8

Since we all have party on the brain after yesterday’s spectacular steal, why not carry on the celebrating with today’s steal, the Crate Paper Pretty Party collection? While this collection isn’t “birthday” per se, I decided that I wanted to create a layout for this week’s Mid Week Mojo with a photo taken last Sunday on my entry into “the club.” Yup. It’s the big 4-0 for me and I love how perfectly this collection helped me to capture my thoughts at this milestone in life. Even if I did have to share my entry into the club with Father’s Day.  ;)

I love how fresh this collection is. I love that the greens and strawberry colors just happened to work perfectly with my photo.

I love the subtle “birthday” flair included in the collection which is so perfect for a grown up birthday layout.

I also love the chipboard banner that adds such a feminine finishing touch to my page.

I genuinely cannot wait to put the rest of this amazing collection to work! Well done, Crate Paper, well done!

And now I have to congratulate Andrea Taylor for a job well done on last week’s Mid Week Mojo sketch. She is our lucky weekly random winner!

Crate Paper Restoration | Mid Week Mojo

Garnet – Layout 4

Happy 2012 and new year of guest sketchers! Today I’m so pleased to be bringing to you one of our amazing friends and fans who nails vintage-shabby like no other, Charity Becker! Today Charity does an amazing job with today’s steal, Restoration by Crate Paper.

Ever get the feeling things just can’t get any better and than they do? Yep, me too! That’s how I felt back in November when I got that coveted e-mail from Kristy Lee. After squealing (quite loudly) I quickly replied that I would be honored to be a guest sketcher. Then Lisa suggested I create the first Mid Week Mojo of 2012 with Crate Paper, Restoration. My shabby chic diva self went into spasms of excitement. Sit down, strap in, and prepare for a fussy cutting fest, ‘cause Crate Paper and I―we had us a good time!

The first thing I did was fussy cut an entire sheet of doilies. There was just no question that these delicious shapes were going to figure largely in my projects. Then I got down to business and came up with this sketch.

I needed to fit four photos on the same page so I arranged a 7×7 block of photo sizes to accommodate my ideal. Of course, I scattered fussy cut and finger crimped doilies around the page.

My daughter’s third grade class has pen pal partners at a local assisted living facility. They write them letters regularly and once a month they load up the bus and take the kids to Tufte Manor for a party. They take pictures at each event and both the children and the pen pals get copies. I threw together an envelope album for Lori’s pen-pal to keep her letters in and display their pictures.

After trimming and tea staining four Open End Catalog Envelopes (instructions found here) I punched holes and used prong fasteners from Office Max to hold the envelopes together. Then I used this sketch to create the album pages.

Here is the front cover:

And here is the back:

To finish up I created some sweet little ATCs. Here are three of them.

This paper pack was fabulous to work with. The designs are so much fun and the paper has a wonderful textured finish on one side. What’s more, after all that creating I still have five full sheets left! Thanks Scrapbook Steals for this thoroughly enjoyable opportunity. Now get yourself over to the steals page and buy yourself some Crate Paper, Restoration. I can’t wait to see what you create with it.

Thank you so much Charity for being such an amazing guest sketcher. You are always so inspiring with your “fussy cutting,” and truly take the art of scrapbooking to a further level.
