Imaginisce Hello Cupcake | Monday Card Madness #100

Wow! I simply cannot believe we have reached one hundred weeks of Monday Card Madness sketches! And what better way to celebrate than with today’s steal, the Imaginisce Hello Cupcake collection? Nothing says “let’s party” like a darling paper collection perfect for boys and girls, young and old. And as always, Imaginisce adds the perfect touch to their papers with that little touch of shimmer.

This week I decided to use some of my favorite sketches from the past two years to create cards for today’s post.

For first card I made I decided to go with sketch #79. This sketch is a gorgeous one made by guest blogger Heidi Van Laar.

For card #2 I stepped back to around the one year mark of Monday Card Madness and went with sketch #52.

Next, I moved forward in time and used the sketch #86 that Design Team member Cyndee Kawa created for a Monday Card Madness. I really love how this one turned out! :)

For my 4th card I went wayyyyyyyyyyy back in time to sketch #23 and used this fun sketch.

And lastly I ended up with the sketch #81. Another one of my all time favorites.

I can’t believe how quickly these cards came together simply by using some timeless sketches along with the abundance of embellishments in today’s steal!

So now you may be asking what you’re supposed to do for this week’s Monday Card Madness. Well, the sky is the limit! Just have fun and make sure that this week’s card is celebration based. It can be birthday, anniversary, congrats or even HAPPY 100 WEEKS of Monday Card Madness. ;)

My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing | Monday Card Madness #99

I hope you all had a great weekend! I sure did as I was able to get scrappy with today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye—The Sweetest Thing,  Lavender Collection. I go weak at the knees because it’s My Mind’s Eye alone, but add the gorgeous pinks, greens, yellows polka dots and chevrons, and I’m beyond smitten! In fact, don’t tell my husband but perhaps the “headache” I had so we couldn’t go out was a little “lavender” induced. Shhhh!

This week card sketch was inspired by the use of the embellishments in the Lavender collection.

I was immediately drawn to the circle embellishment on the top of the polka dot banner, and so my first card and basis of the sketch was created.

For the next card I couldn’t resist using the pink chevron paper. I’m so in love with chevrons right now, and this paper is pink, so it’s kind of like the best of the best of the best!

On my third card I decided to show off one of the darling crochet doilies. Crochet is certainly an art that I know nothing about so I’m kind of grateful that My Mind’s Eye has brought the beauty to me!

The next card I made I put to use some of the chipboard embellishments and added a little butterfly that I cut out on my Cameo.

As I threw the previous card down on my desk it landed rotated by 45 degrees and I realized how great this sketch works rotated clockwise by one turn.

I cannot wait to put the rest of the papers to use on a layout! In fact I love this collection I very well may need to steal a back up for when the scraps run low.

I’ve loved seeing your cards this past week. It kind of boggles my mind that we are nearing the end of not only another month but ONE HUNDRED weeks of Monday Card Madness sketches.

Doodlebug Designs Crushed Velvet Flock

Being a child of the 70’s, I have vivid memories of gorgeous colorful flocked trees that decked the halls of the holiday season. I always wanted a colorful flocked tree but, alas, it was always evergreen for us. With today’s steal, the Doodlebug Designs Crushed Velvet Flock, I can appease my mournful childhood memory of never-ending green by adding a little colorful fluff to my paper crafting projects. And after seeing what Design Team member Regina Mangum did with today’s steal, I can’t wait to get colorful!

If you’re like me, you may not have even heard of flock! What is it? I like to think of it as soft, happy fuzz. I got to play with Doodlebug’s Crushed Velvet Flock and I’m excited to share some projects I made with you today.

I was a little intimidated by these darling little jars of crushed velvet flock at first, but then I realized that it would be a great way to add some fun texture to a project. I decided to create three cards with just a small sampling of the amazing colors that come in the package of 12.

First up is one for all you owl fans! After die-cutting out my tree, grass, and owls, I applied some of the flock to the shapes. To get a smooth, even texture, apply adhesive with either an adhesive sheet before you die-cut your shapes or with an adhesive applicator (like a Xyron Create a Sticker) after you have cut your shapes. Then, sprinkle liberally, press down, and shake off excess.

Next, I thought it would be fun to create a shaped card. What could be more warm and fuzzy than a happy brown bear? I die-cut the bear shape using my electronic die-cutter and applied the flock to just the top overlay. I love the touchable texture of the “fur” and added a sweet banner and fun googly eyes.

For my third card, I thought I would make a girlie thank you card for my aunt, who is a poodle lover. The trimmed fur of a poodle was just perfect to use with flock!

I love how the flock looks on the tail and legs of the poodle.

I hope you enjoyed my “fun with flock” cards today. Once I got over my initial intimidation, I had such a terrific time adding texture to my projects. Thanks so much to ScrapbookSteals for bringing a little flock into my life!

Ack! Regina, you are crazy talented, woman! I love your cards and think I may just have to flock up some decorations for a Christmas tree. Can you imagine how cute it would be to cut out some fun shapes on my Silhouette then flock the negative space onto clear ornaments?  Yeah. I’m excited.

Have a super weekend everyone! I know I will, aka: last weekend before school starts!

Silhouette | How To’sday

If you haven’t been lucky enough to add the Silhouette Cameo to your collection, let me sit you down right now and tell you to do everything in your power to make it happen. Whether that be adopting the “ask for forgiveness rather than permission” philosophy, stealing from your grocery budget (kids can live on ramen noodles, right?), or taking a temporary loan from someone’s piggy bank, you will not be sorry to have the magical abilities of today’s steal at your disposal.

I had a lot of fun using my Cameo to create backgrounds for these layouts.

I love the wide format the Cameo offers so I can create the perfect size embellishments for my page.

If you’re new to the world of the Silhouette, don’t despair! Here are a bunch of blog posts that can walk you through some step-by-step instructions on heat transfer, fabric interfacing, fabric paint, sketch pens and vinyl.

Here’s wishing you luck that you will be able to welcome a Cameo into your home! Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow for Mid Week Mojo and a sketch provided to us by Design Team member Regina Mangum.

Crate Paper Little Boy Blue | Monday Card Madness #98

Today’s steal, The Crate Paper Little Boy Blue collection, couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I have a few friends whose babies are about to make their grand appearance into the world, so it’s time to make some cards! I love this particular collection because it’s perfect for baby-related things without being traditional “baby.” That scores some pretty big bonus points in the design world.

I decided to base the design of the card off one of the cut-out cards from the “Oliver” sheet of paper. It’s such a fun sheet to design with as there are so many different directions your card can take from simply choosing a different “card.”

I liked the bold red and the “congratulations” of this particular card.

I put one of the diecut wooden pieces to use on this card.

There are so many fun dimensional designs in the Little Boy Blue collection that I replaced the “cards” on these two creations with some of the stand out embellishments.

And last but not least, I had fun making a card using this collection that is completely 100% non-baby related!

Hooray for versatile collections!

And hooray for what you girls have been creating using the Monday Card Madness sketches. Keep it up!
