Scrapp’n Supplies Rhinestone Bundle | Monday Craft Madness #9

The Scrapp’n Supplies Rhinestone Bundle are so much to use and add just the right ammount of BLING to your projects. Whether you want a lot or just a little, the rhinestones are all individual so you can add as many as your heart desires! Which means this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Bring on the bling!

I created a number of themed projects to show you just how versatile they can be. They are not just for the girls – you can even add them to a masculine project as I did in my first card.

The next card I made using the heart shaped rhinestones – again  -another quick and easy card!

And just to show you how easy they are to use on a layout too – here is a layout I made using the rhinestones to create a butterfly swirl.

As the rhinestones are all individual, you really can create any pattern you want – from flourishes and flowers, to stars and stripes – the possibilites are endless!

I hope I have inspired you to ‘bring on the bling’ this week! Just remember to have fun! :)

We R Memory Keepers Doodle Stampers

I love what Fall Design Team member Amy Coose has done with today’s steal, the We R Memory Keepers Doodle Stampers! Adding details with these stampers is so easy yet so effective. Amy, you did a fabulous job!

• • • • •

I was thrilled to get to work with the We R Memory Doodle Stampers this month.  I had never used them before so I couldn’t wait to see what they could do. I am not a stamper, so I was a little nervous to use them.  Once I played around with them a bit, I realized how easy they were to use!  Once I got the hang of how they rolled, and how much pressure to use when rolling them, I was ready to get creating.
I have to say, my first layout was quite simple.  I just used the stampers as a border for the main portion of the design.  It was super easy, and I figured that even I couldn’t mess that up.  I really like the extra detail that simple stamped border adds.
When I was finished with the layout, I decided to use the roller once more along the top edge.
I knew I could figure out a way to use the stitched stamper, but the other two heads I received were a bit more challenging.  I finally came up with an idea that I loved.  I simply rolled the stamper along three different colors of card stock and then placed them behind the front heart cutout of my card.  I added some machine stitching, and tied a cute bow and it was done.  I love how this turned out.
I loved using the stampers, they were easy to use and produced a crisp image.  You do have to experiment with how much pressure to use when rolling them so that you don’t get extra ink marks around the image, but that was easy enough to figure out.  They are fun to use, and I enjoyed using them in my projects!

How To’sday | Crafting with Balsa Wood

Today’s How To’sday by Julie Koets is a definite must read! It’s quite simple but is such a great idea. I will certainly be trying this one myself!

• • • • •

I have always been a fan of woodgrain pattern and love the rustic feel that it lends to my projects.   Did you know that you can add actual wood to your cards and layouts without adding weight and bulk?   Balsa wood is one of the lightest varieties of wood available and is sold in sheets at craft and hobby stores.  I bought a sheet of balsa that measured 4 inches by 24 inches and then cut it down into small sections to use with my Big Shot embossing and die cutting machine.
Because the wood is super thin, it can be cut with scissors or a craft knife.  It tends to split easily along the grain, so handle with care.
After the image is embossed, you can add ink to bring out the details.
The embossed background adds great texture to cards or layouts without adding additional weight.
Balsa wood can also be cut using shape dies.  If you have alpha dies, you could easily use balsa wood to cut your own dimensional title letters.
Again, I inked the edges and adhered to a card to add additional dimension and texture.

My Mind’s Eye Title Cards | Monday Craft Madness #5

The My Mind’s Eye title cards are SO much fun. They can be used for any paper crafting project! I love that the sentiments on these cards fit any occasion. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Layering!

I chose to make three different cards this week using the MME title cards as the main focus. The layering is so easy to do. We do it all the time on cards and layouts without really thinking about it! An easy challenge for everyone to join in!

This first card shows the layering at its best. There are a total of eight layers on this card! I matched the MME Indie Chic card with MME papers from other collections and added a little for some texture.

My next card uses another title from the MME Indie Chic collection, along with papers from MME’s Honey Cake 6×6 paper pad. I cut out the hearts using my Cricut and ‘popped’ 2 of them up, along with the title card, using pop dots. A bit of inking around the edges of the papers really highlights the layering.

I love the colors in the MME ‘Dilly Dally’ collection, and this title card really pulls the color scheme together! I fussy cut the tickets from one of the 12×12 papers and used my punch to cut out the star. I love the masculine feel to this card – it could be for a birthday, graduation or other special event.

I love how versatile these title cards are. They aren’t just for scrapbooking!

Inkadinkado Embossing Powders | Monday Craft Madness #3

The Inkadinkado Embossing Powders are SO much fun for crafts big and small! The colors are fun and bright, and there are endless possibilities with these. I’ll show you just a few, which brings us to this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme:

Embossing Powders!

I was given green, red and white embossing powders – so, of course, I had to go with a festive theme! These powders worked great for jazzing up Christmas gifts for my daughter’s teacher.

I started off thinking about a gift. I have seen altered candle holders on Pinterest and really wanted to give this a try. I used a Versamark watermark stamp pad and simple snowflake stamps. Then I sprinkled on the embossing powder, used my heat embossing tool, and voila!

Next I needed something to put the gift in! I found an old box, painted the edges in green metallic paint, and then set to work with the decorating. I love to use embossing powders with background stamps, so the top of the box is decorated with a heat embossed background stamp and the embossed sentiment stamp. I used a dry embossing folder for the plain cardstock pieces around the sides of the box, which I then went over with my stamp pad and embossing powder. I then heat embossed it all. A very simple, yet effective decoration.

Of course, with every gift you need a gift tag! Something else I spotted on Pinterest was using one stamped image and carefully ‘painting’ with the powders. Basically, you carefully place each color where you want it on the image and then heat emboss it all together. I must say, this was very fiddly but fun!

Lastly, I needed a card to finish off the set. I used the embossing powders on a stocking stamp, cut them out, and then ‘popped’ them up! I also embossed the sentiment. Such a simple, yet effective, card made in under 10 minutes!

I love these embossing powders! I think the 48g pot I have of each color is going to last me a life time! Looking at it, you wouldn’t even know I had used it! I hope I have inspired you to join in this week’s Monday Craft Madness challenge – using embossing powders!
