When I was asked to be a guest sketcher at first I was shocked then so thrilled! Then came the ‘can I do this?’ There have been so many amazing scrapbookers on here, I didn’t think I could compare. But I got to thinking everyone has such different styles and strengths, what did it really matter?
When I found out I got to work with Carta Bella’s Paris Girl, I was even more excited because this line is so gorgeous. When I got it in the mail I was even more amazed with the texture and quality of the paper. So I really wanted to feature the paper in my LO. So here is what I came up with.

And here is the sketch:

I titled it ‘My Love, My Valentine’ and put the letters on all the rosette’s i made. Let me tell you, making all those rosette’s took along time but I think they really show off the paper well.
DIY handmade rosette embellishments
I love doilies and they always remind me of Valentines, so I wanted to add one in.

I thought the ticket stickers that came with the set had such cute sayings on them, that I just had to use them as well.

The 6×6 pad of paper is the same quality, and is also stunning! I just had to make a card with it! Here’s what I came up with.

So that’s it for me, thanks for having me as a guest sketcher, I had so much fun working with this paper. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Thank you so much Kassandra! The rosettes and sketch are just adorable! I’m going to try my hardest to join in with this one.

Lifestyle Crafts Embossing Folders | Monday Craft Madness #13

The Lifestyle Crafts Embossing Folders are super easy to use, and with endless possibilities you can never have too many! Whether you are embossing a card, a layout, using it as a frame or tag, there is something for everyone in today’s steal. Here is this week’s Monday Craft Madness inspiration and theme:

White + 1

Use white plus one other color only on your project! I have used white+pink and white+blue for my projects.

I decided to make a traditional embossed background card for my first project.

DIY handmade embossed baby boy card

I wanted to highlight the embossing as much as I could and so used a sponge with my inks to gently rub over the embossing. I love the way it highlights the edges of the embossing – giving so much more dimension to the background.

I added stitching and a button to the title card for a little more interest and to emphasize the white+1 theme.

Next up, I wanted to show you how easily the embossing folder could be used as a frame. I’m not sure why I ended up with another baby themed project – it just happened! I was looking for another white+1 and just happened upon pink!

DIY handmade baby gift

I embossed some plain white card stock and fussy cut the frame.

I put this onto a plain pail and used vellum behind the frame to give it a little more interest. The pink and white flowers were added along with the pearl bling and the word ‘cherish.’ It makes a great gift – baby or other!

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘white+1′ projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities. Just remember to have fun! :)

How To-sday on Thursday! | Hearts Galore Part Two

Today’s How To-sday on Thursday comes to you from Winter Design Team member Bev Code! Are you ready for part two of her very own mini series? She’s back with more cute ”Hearts Galore” ideas to freshen up your scrapbook layout, cards, mini albums and projects!

• • • • •
Hi there! I’m back for part two of my ”Heart Galore” post. Next up is Iris Folded Heart and I made it into a card.
DIY handmade Iris Folded card for Valentine's Day
Here are the detailed instructions on making Iris Folded images of so many shapes. It also shows you how to make these using paper (folded over). I have made the paper ones and thought that single runs of ribbon not folded would also work, so that’s what I did for this one. I started with the heart drawn above and cut the shape out.

I then followed the design in the link and taped down my ribbons as you can see below. Just remember to leave space around the outside to trim and finish your project.

When finished, turn over your project, trim it, and decide how you want to use it. I put this on my finished card above but it would make a great framed piece on a layout also.

Last up is this fun card I call a Diamond Folded Heart.
DIY handmade Diamond Folded card for Valentine's day
I got the idea when I saw it at Christmas with the shape of a Christmas tree. That shape was really easy to figure out. After much playing with the heart pattern I made the stencils for you to make one too.

Print this sheet at 8 1/2″ x 11″ and it should work to follow along and make yours. The cut lines are solid and the dotted lines are the folds. It also is best to do the main piece out of a print with a white back side. The heart is sized to cover the other folded diamond heart.

Start by laying the pattern above on the print paper with white backside. Using a ruler and exacto knife cut only the solid V lines. Then fold the coloured side forward to white side.

Mat the backside of the diamond shaped heart with an accented colour. Tape it to the back to hold it in place. Also using the stencil cut the heart shape frame piece. I used white but you can make your heart any colour combo you feel you’d like.

This photo shows my white frame and the solid piece is my card base.

After all this is organized I then cut another heart frame to accent and added other accents, a sentiment, some bling and even added a stamped bird.

Thanks for joining me today. I really had a great time creating these HEARTS GALORE to share with you.

My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell Collection | Monday Craft Madness #11

The My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell Collection is such a versatile collection, it can be used for girls or boys, big or small. There is a mixture of chevron, striped and spotted patterns, along with a variety of floral designs, in such a gorgeous blues, yellows and grays, the theme is up to you. I decided to scrap my baby boy this week, along with making a baby shower card – which means this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Baby Blues!

You could make layouts, cards or altered projects baby related or even just use the color blue. The choice is yours!

I loved the color combination in this collection and thought it worked perfectly for a layout of my baby boy.

I used a sketch from our very talented Design Team Member Bev Code.

The embellishments that came with this collection were just adorable, and I tried to find a way to use as many as I possible could! I clustered some of the embellishments at the bottom corner of my photo. The notebook paper and flower are both stickers, which I then layered with a wooden button and brad. The other two embellishments came ‘ready done.’ I love this about MME – they do all the hard work for you!

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

As I have said previously, the new enamel dots from MME are one of my greatest finds! I knew I wanted to do a small banner underneath the photo but I didn’t want the twine that I normally use with them. Instead I used the enamel dots to finish off’ the chipboard banner. I love that they come in different sizes in coordinating colors!

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

Next, I decided to make a baby card. The colors and patterns are perfect for this, and it kept within my theme.

I fussy cut two of the borders from the border sheet, and added one of the tiny word stickers as a final touch.

I used my Cricut to cut out the stroller and used pop dots to give it a little dimension. Some stitching for texture, buttons for wheels, pop it all up on a scalloped circle and done! A cute baby card.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘Baby Blues’ projects this week. Just remember to have fun! :)

Crate Paper Acorn Avenue & On Trend Collections

Next up for our Winter Design Team is Bev Code! Today’s steal, the Crate Paper Acorn Avenue and On Trend Collections are two adorable collections. The ‘Acorn Avenue collection’ is more of a fall collection with colors and patterns to match. Bev chose the ‘On Trend collection’, which is full of bright, contrasting colors and patterns and she certainly did a great job on showcasing it!

• • • • •

Hi everyone, its Bev here with you today and I’m so excited to be sharing this Crate Paper On Trend Collection! It is is full of bold contrasts, fun florals, toned down collection of cream and black designs. What a variety to choose from to make crafting so fun and easy with so many alternatives. I started with this fun blue print and added the cream black patterns along with the pop of yellow.

Below in the close up you can see a few details. The punched borders in navy cardstock backed the photos. I then added lots of fun On Trend accents and stickers…a touch of twine, brads and some bling.

Next I lightened things up with fun floral and matching striped folded Chevrons, lots of layers, a banner with twine, a tag and stickers.

On the last layout I grabbed the green print, a touch of chevron strips and lots and lots of sticker accents that made some really fun clustered sections. I then added some black outlining and more doodling.

Now for the last project — a fun card using bright and bold floral along with the black and cream print. A few sticker layers, some brads, and inking.

In this other view of the card you now can see it’s an easel card…and the added punched border and floral paper makes the base to stand the card up.

As you can see I had an amazing time with this kit. All the color options, the numerous number of projects that I got made and oh yes…I still have some pieces left to play with.
