How Can You Dress Up Grungeboard?

How Can You Dress Up Grungeboard?

Today’s steal, the Tim Holtz Grungeboard sets, have got to be one of the most unique, fun and innovative scrapbooking products available.

You may be asking yourself, “what do I do with Grungeboard?” Well, if you can dream it, you can do it! One of the beauties of Grungeboard is the sturdiness of it. Being as it is “a compressed, flexible sheet of dingy material that can be painted, inked, sanded, hammered or grunged,” your creative options are pretty wide open.

One of the easiest ways to dress up the Grungeboard to match your project is with ink. Simply take the ink pad and brush it along the top of the Grungeboard piece until the desired color is achieved. While you could use any type of ink pad, the pigment ink is a little richer and tends to color easier. Just be sure to allow drying time.

One of my favorite techniques to do to anything is to add glitter. I love the little spritz of shimmer and shine it adds to a project and glitzing up Grungeboard with a little sparkle is no different. To adhere the glitter to Grungeboard you can either use a glue pad or use spray adhesive to coat the topside of the Grungeboard and then sprinkle with glitter.

Another fun technique is to cover the Grungeboard with flocking. You can do this in the same fashion as glitter, but sprinkle with flocking instead.

I decided to see how Glimmer Mists would work with the Grungeboard. They are moisture resistant so I wasn’t quite sure how it would work out. I had to use my heating tool to help speed along the drying process, but quite liked the look of the “grungy” final product.

You could also stitch Grungeboard or add eyelets or it even looks great left raw.

Here is a layout that I created awhile back and thought the Grungeboard skull was the perfect finishing touch for my page.

Have a fantastic weekend! See you on Monday for Monday Card Madness.

Blingage! | Mid Week Mojo #43

Blingage! | Mid Week Mojo #43

Bling. It’s something that most of us girls just can’t live without, and today’s steal, the Teresa Collins Blingage collection is one that you definitely do not want to pass up. Not only are the elements of today’s steal perfect for adding a special touch to your crafting projects, but so many of them are perfect to bling up yourself! The big flowers and two of the big gem bobbie pins in today’s steal have already found their way into my girls’ hair stash. Oh, and in case you didn’t realize it, you also had a sneak peek to today’s steal with the cards that I created on Monday.

I had such a great time with last week’s single page sketch that I decided to take another stab at a one pager.

I knew I wanted to create a layout about my sweet and thoughtful husband and figured while typical bling wasn’t the feel I wanted for this layout, the bling gems would make a perfect accent to tie together the entire purpose of my page.

I love the little splash of pizazz that the gems give to an otherwise relatively non-girly layout. I adore my new shoes, but they are on the opposite spectrum of girly girl. By adding the blingage to create my arrow, I tied together two things that I absolute love — my new running shoes and my love of bling. Who knows, maybe I’ll even add a little bling to my new shoes to really put my soul at peace. ;)

We loved all of last week’s creations that were posted on our Facebook fan page. Our lucky random winner for sketch #42 is Carrie Labani.

Congrats Carrie! If you could please send us your address to service@scrapbooksteals.com, we’d be happy to send out a prize to you.

Remember to have this week’s mojo completed and uploaded to either or Facebook fan page or your own personal blog, by Monday, May 23 at 11:59pm in order to be eligible for next weeks drawing.

Have a great day! I know I will. I think I’ll go for a run! ?

How To’sday: T-shirt Makeover by Cristine Redmond

It’s How To’sday again!  I love featuring ideas from you crafty divas. Today’s how to comes to us from Cristine Redmond with a fun idea for a t-shirt makeover.

—————————-

My daughter has a cute, magenta-colored shirt that has been collecting dust in her closet, so I decided to alter it to make a Valentine’s Day shirt for her.

Using my Silhouette, I created this template using a rhinestone pattern. It originally only had two hearts, but I altered it to make three. I taped the template down to the shirt to make sure it didn’t move while I was placing the rhinestones.

I placed the i-rock rhinestones in the holes of my template using a wet q-tip.

Once all of the rhinestones were in place, I secured them using my i-rock. I secured them with the template in place first, just in case they moved or didn’t stick. Then I removed it and went over them all again just to make sure they were really stuck on the shirt.

This is the final product!  I love love love how it turned out and my daughter is super excited to have a “new” shirt. I definitely had fun using my new toys! :)

—————————-

I was so inspired by Cristine’s idea to mesh together the functions of the Silhouette and the iRock that I used her idea to make this St. Patrick’s Day Card.

Thank you Cristine for your great tutorial!

If you’d like to see your how to featured on an upcoming How To’sday, you can email directions and photos to kristy@stealnetwork.com. We’d love to put you in the spotlight.

Check in tomorrow for our next Mid Week Mojo sketch, featuring a layout about my latest addiction, Words With Friends.

Have a great day!

How About a Sneak Peek? Ready, Set…Chipboard!

How About a Sneak Peek? Ready, Set…Chipboard!

Every once in awhile there’s a weekend steal that is just begging to be shown on the blog (I have way too many ideas for weekdays only).  Since we don’t have weekend blog features, I asked Melodee if we could have a sneak peek afternoon posting of the goodness that will be coming your way tomorrow, the Cosmo Cricket Ready Set Chipboard Kit.

One of the things that I love about tomorrow’s steal is the wide variety of projects that can be created with one kit.

I figured I would do my best to entice Mother Nature to deliver warmer weather by creating a cute shadow box decoration and a card using the “Togetherness” chipboard collection.  Nothing says spring like bunnies, pinwheels and birds.

I am always looking for inexpensive items to alter and make cute.  A trip to the dollar store for a photo frame, some patterned paper and a little paint yielded this cute decoration for my girls’ room using the “Pixielicious” chipboard set.

Look at how perfectly the butterfly flourish worked to complete this card.

Now I’ll be the first to admit that I’m pretty tired of winter, but look how darling these wintery projects turned out with pieces from the “Mitten Weather” collection.

You’ll also get a set of “Lavender Bling” letters as part of tomorrow’s steal. Can’t beat that and can’t beat the price either! You will just have to check in tomorrow at 9AM to see about that. ;)

Have a great weekend!
