Basic Grey PB & J | Mid Week Mojo

Amber – Week 2 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

The Basic Grey PB & J is such a bright, fun collection, with colors and patterns perfect for any boy or girl. It’s fun chipboard elements, stickers and metal flowers really make you look forward to Spring! I had so much fun with this collection – here is the sketch:

And here is my layout. I loved the blues and reds in this collection, and knew they would work perfectly for my photos!

I used the navy chipboard alphas for my title, and the small spots are actually the centers of the letters that I would normally throw away. They just landed on my page as I was doing the title – and I quite liked them! Again I hand stitched around the circle, just to add a little more interest to the page, and used a star punch to break up the line of the circle.

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

I mirrored the element cluster on the bottom of the circle, and added these fun chipboard rectangles to the bottom corner as it looked a little bare.

Basic Grey True Love Collection | Valentine’s Day Inspiration

The Basic Grey True Love Collection is the perfect collection for Valentine’s Day! It has an adorable color palette and patterns to match. It is packed full of paper, stickers, brads, envelopes, buttons and more. The paper designs just blew me away, and I really didn’t know where to start! I wanted to put everything in the collection on the layout! I didn’t manage it, but there is so much left over I can scrap the events of the day too!

Here is my layout:

My favorite part in this collection has got to be the envelopes! I knew I just HAD to put one on my layout somewhere! They are beautifully decorated and come in both the soft blue and cream. I added a brad to the envelope as a fastener – the flap just tucks behind it to keep it closed. A few of the coordinating buttons adds a little more dimension to the page – this cluster is mirrored in the opposite corner.

They all come with a small journalling card inside too! One less thing to think about and I love the fact that my journalling is hidden.

I also love that the collection includes a 4×6 journalling pad. There are so many fun quotes to use and elements to fussy cut. I fussy cut the quote “thinking of you , always makes me smile” and the small banners from the pad just to add a little more interest to the page. I also used my white pen to add some faux stitching and ‘break up’ the plain paper edges.

I hope I have inspired you to steal this collection – perfect for many themed layouts – but a great ‘steal’ for scrapping the memories from tonight!

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for Winter Design Team Member Bev Code’s Friday projects!

Basic Grey Curio Collection | Monday Card Madness #96

As much as I love bold, bright, graphic and fun, every now and again it feels good to pull out something with a touch of nostalgia, maturity and class. Today’s steal, the Basic Grey Curio collection, is just that. Working with this collection makes me feel as if I might just get invited to High Tea and crumpets with the Queen — even if I am a 40 year old with purple streaks in my hair. :)

I really had a great time creating with this collection and decided to keep this week’s sketch simple. I find that the simpler the better when mixing such intense paper prints. And you can knock out cards pretty darn fast too!

I particularly love the office tabs in this collection. I’m kind of addicted to tabs and banners right now, so embellishments that are self adhering and already decorated are an added bonus!

I also love the texture canvas tags add to a project.

I’m kind of excited with how these turned out! I couldn’t resist working with the papers just a little more and whipped up a couple of layouts.

Such a classy, classy collection!

Basic Grey Hopscotch | Monday Card Madness #93

Ahhhh, the lazy days of summer. Today’s steal, the Basic Grey Hopscotch collection, takes me back to the days when the thrill of the summer was someone getting a new Hopscotch board painted on their driveway, and the smell of a brand new swirly hoppy taw. Sure, this probably dates me, but those are fond memories of my summer vacations clear back in the ::gasp:: 70’s.

While the Hopscotch collection makes me reminisce of my youth, there is absolutely nothing vintage 70’s about these papers. It’s such a whimsical, fun collection that evokes simpler times.

This collection is so much fun to play with! It was a collection I thought was really cute, but wow, once I got chopping the papers I didn’t want to stop!

I love the Basic Grey Ribbon Doilies and used them as the foundation of my card design. I started with the pennant design and came up with this card.

I love the pink butterfly/flower inspired trim and used it on my next card.

Of course I couldn’t leave the final doily trim unloved, so made this cute little “love you” card.

The chipboard pieces are won-der-ful. They actually stick and come in such a wide variety of shapes and designs. I used some of the border pieces to mimic the idea of the doilies in the previous cards.

Thank you, Basic Grey, for that fun and carefree crafting session!

Don’t forget there is a little more time to participate in the We R Memory Keepers Operation Write Home Card Drive. As a little incentive and a huge thank you to those participating, we have a lovely Red White and Blue Stack Pack that will be given to one random winner who participates in the Operation Write Home Card Drive.

To enter to win:

We will have a random drawing from all of the card drive participants. The winner will be announced on our July 30th Monday Card Madness blog post. (Don’t forget! Post your cards to a regular Monday Card Madness blog post by August 3rd in order to be eligible for our regular monthly drawing.)

Tomorrow we are in for a terrific How To’sday from Staci Jones with unique uses for transparencies.

Have a great day!

Basic Grey Bloomers

I love flowers. I do. I love sweet chubby fists full of dandelions from the yard and I love when my husband surprises me with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from the corner florist. Okay, let’s be real, he gets me flowers from the grocery store because it’s always an afterthought or apology, but it is the thought that counts. If you want to give an extra special thoughtful touch to your scrapbook pages and cards then today’s steal, the Basic Grey Bloomers, will make your projects blossom with perfection!

Today we are pleased to be sharing with you some incredible scrapbook layouts using the Basic Grey Bloomers that were created by  in house Basic Grey designer Kelly Goree

I love my Bloomers. They truly make the perfect addition to a project. Remember these cards from a previous Monday Card Madness?

And check out this darling layout from Basic Grey Designer, Megan Klauer. I tell ya, perfection! She has crazy awesome handwriting that I just may trade my entire stash of bloomers, my entire yard of dandelions and some grocery store flowers for!

Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our online crop this Friday night from 6-10PM MST and also check in tomorrow for our first installment to the Turquoise Mid Week Mojo series.
