How To’sday | Custom Alphabet Stickers

So your sweet husband/boyfriend/special other decided to take it upon himself to do a little scrappy shopping for you for Christmas and decided to get you Thickers. A bunch of Thickers. Only problem is he decided to get you a lifetime supply of white ones figuring they would go with anything. Well guess what — he was right. :)

Today Misty Buck shows us how to take those basic white foamy alphabet stickers and alter them to suit any crafty color need.

  • foam alphabet stickers
  • ink pad
  • heating tool
  • rubber stamp

Step 1: Choose letters to alter and place them on a ink-proof surface.

Step 2: Cover the surface of the letters with desired color of ink.

Step 3: Gently heat surface of inked stickers until foam softens. “Stamp” surface of letters with a rubber stamp to create texture.

Step 4: Use custom colored and textured letters on project of your choice!

American Crafts Amy Tangerine Thickers | Monday Card Madness #63

Ahhhhh Thickers. I love that word. I love the visual it brings of rainbow and sparkles, fonts and textures. In short, I love Thickers and my guess is that you do too! And if you haven’t yet seen the designs in today’s steal, the American Crafts Amy Tangerine Thickers collection then you are in for a treat. The designs, the faux stitching, the fonts, the different mediums mixed with the variety of colors, well, it makes me go weak in the knees!

I kept this week’s sketch pretty basic because I wanted to keep the focus of the design on the block for the Thickers.

Don’t you agree that the Amy Tangerine Thickers, totally make these cards?

Don’t forget your challenge of sending out joy! I know it makes me so happy when I receive some good old-fashioned, handmade, snail mail. It’s such a great way to brighten someones day and put your creations to use as well!

American Crafts Garden Cafe | Mid Week Mojo

Opal — Layout 10

I know I say it every month when our guest sketcher Wednesday rolls around, but it’s such a treat for me to be able to bring to you the talents of one of our amazing ScrapbookSteals friends. This month is of no exception and I’m delighted to bring to you this month’s guest sketcher, Heather Conklin.

Hello my scrappy friends, it’s Heather here. I am so excited to be the guest sketcher for Opal #10! When Kristy emailed me “So… my favorite art teacher on the planet… what do you feel about being our guest sketcher for December?  :)” my heart went all aflutter. When I heard what I was going to create with, I calmed down immediately.

I had the pleasure of playing with one of the lines that I had wished for the first time I had seen it, American Crafts Garden Cafe. I love the colors, the patterns, the embossed loveliness on lots of the papers, the fun Thickers (2 sets!), sweet little brads, cute tags, ribbon and the Delights (paper flowers).

As I started to sit down and sketch out my plan, I really couldn’t decide which of the papers to use, so I tried to use them all! Rather than limiting myself to having to choose one paper per side of my 2-pager, I used five pieces of paper and created a chevron background on basic kraft paper. This allowed me to connect the two pages together. Then, it was just a simple execution of putting down some great photographs, adding a few tags and Delights, penning in a journaling section, and adding a fun title.

I really loved playing with this collection, and even made a a card, and a Christmas layout using Opal #9! This kit is so versatile.

Thank you again Kristy and Lisa for this amazing opportunity. And my lovely ScrapbookSteals friends, I really hope that you all have fun with this sketch. I cannot wait to see what each of you create!

American Crafts Daydreams | Monday Card Madness #60

Ever since I saw the 11AM steal, American Crafts, Daydreams, I’ve been dreaming about what I would get to make with it.

I was pretty pleased when I realized that I could use these papers to make a birthday card for my oldest daughter that is celebrating her 17th birthday today.

American Crafts always delivers in prints, colors and embellishments. I hope my Maddi-o likes her birthday card, even though I’m shaking my head that I now have a 17 year old! How did this happen?

I also had to use one of the owl embellishments to make this card. Isn’t he cute?

Now sit back and relax. It’s time to have fun daydreaming about what might be coming up next!

American Crafts Margarita | Mid Week Mojo

Opal Club — Layout 8

Here in the U.S., most of us are busily into Thanksgiving Day preparations, so I decided to go easy on this week’s sketch after the madness of the last one with 11 photos.

Thoughts of gratitude fill the air and I must admit that I’m pretty thankful that I was able to work with today’s steal, Margarita by American Crafts. While some of you may be thankful for an actual margarita to help you through the day of preparations, I am thankful for the bright and happy colors that this collection contains. Why do you ask? Because it instantly made me think of this photo that was taken in the spring of one of our amazing ScrapbookSteals friends, Heather Conklin and myself. And yes. I’m thankful for her. <3

I love how bright and happy this collection is. I love the embellishments, the trims and the flower brads are pretty fantastic too!

Oh and the Thickers? ::swoon:: Can you ever really have enough? Especially when they sparkle?

Now it’s time to announce our two lucky winners from the crazy Opal 7 sketch. Congratulations are in order for Cathryn Povec,

and Stephanie Umpleby!

Well done on tackling a pretty daunting sketch! If you girls could please send your address in an email to, we will be happy to get a prize sent out to you.
