Simple Stories I AM | Monday Craft Madness #8

Today’s Monday Craft Madness was a personal journey for me. When I got a first hand look at the used I AM Collection from Simple Storie to I gasped a little bit. It is so very beautiful in colors and design. Then I looked closer at some of the projects that were on display at the Craft and Hobby Association show, I had tears in my eyes. We all seem to minimize ourselves and who and what we are. This collection is so beautiful and celebrates the most important story…yours. So today’s theme is:

YOU

Create something that tells your story or celebrates you. Here’s what I created:

I am one that definitely gives myself a hard time. I enlisted help from some friends to pick a word that describes me. Wow, it’s awesome to do that from time to time. To see how others see you is a pretty awesome experience. Almost all of their responses are included on my project along with a few of my own.

I used the SN@P! cards and the embellishments for this project. I can’t say enough about the embellishments that Simple Stories is creating. This collection also has touches of gold foil all over the place. I’t so beautiful. The quotes are inspiring and something I will now be able to read every day.

Along with some pop dots, I was able to use the stickers, chipboard stickers, enamel dots and the awesome Bradz, that Simple Stories invented, to embellish my printer’s tray. I loved the banner included in the chipboard stickers and just had to add it to my project.

One of the new embellishments that Simple Stories added to this collection is their pack of Interactive Elements.

I wanted to use these on my project so badly because I love the idea of flipping, pulling and interacting with a project. Sadly the sizing didn’t work for the space I had so I created my own, with a nod to the masters. With this pocket I created I could use the tags to write some more of the words my awesome friends used to describe me.

Here’s hoping we can all remember the awesomeness we all have inside and outside. I am going to put this project on my desk at work so when I’m having a hard day I can remember how others see me and how I want to see myself.

Simple Stories Say Cheese II | Mid Week Mojo Daffodil #5

Daffodil – Week 5 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

I have been blessed to work in the Scrapbooking world in some capacity for over a decade now. There has been a handful of times I have loved a collection so much that I tried to save every scrap possible. I found myself trimming my papers and matching them together on a piece of cardstock so I could use the rest of the 12×12 on another project. This Say Cheese II Collection from Simple Stories is one of the best I have seen in a long time. From the nod to the happiest place on earth to the addition of the gold foil accents, this collection has everything you could ever want. So for today’s Mid Week Mojo I couldn’t help myself, I had to make two layouts. Luckily our marketing director just spent some time at Disney World.

Here are the layouts:

Here are the sketches:

For this week, choose one for a regular entry, or choose to do both for a bonus entry. Just mark one as 5a.

I am so in love with the new gold foil accents with this collection. How cool is that date? I love the extra shine it creates on these layouts.

The chipboard frames included in this collection are perfect for embellishments, instagram photos and highlighting a specific part of a photo. Again in this collection we find the awesome new Bradz that Simple Stories has created. The look of an epoxy brad but no holes or metal prongs on your projects.

The enamel dots are gold glitter! Along with other matching colors, I am in LOVE with the glitter enamel dots.

There are so many fabulous embellishments in this collection I just had to try to use as many as I could. The layered and stitched tags are sort of to die for.

A big congrats to Kassandra Missen you are last week’s winner!

October Afternoon Travel Girl | Monday Craft Madness #7

Last September my girls and I took a crazy weekend road trip. We drove from Salt Lake City, UT to Pasadena, CA to the Rose Bowl to see 5 Seconds of Summer and One Direction in concert. Both of my girls are newly adult and I knew it could be one of the last crazy fun things we could do together before they head out of the nest and create lives of their own. We had a spectacular time, almost no sleep, and memories that can last a lifetime. I promised them I wouldn’t show photos of them in tears watching the show, but I wanted to create something that we could store our memories in. So today for Monday Craft Madness I used October Afternoon’s Travel Girl Collection to make a memory box we can store some of the trinkets from our trip…. So today’s theme is:

Altered Memory Keeping

Create something that preserves a memory, but not a layout or album. Maybe create a canvas, a card, or a box. Here’s what I created:

It is so important to save your memories, not just on your phone or computer. This was one of those trips I never want to forget.

I love the eclectic mix of patterns in this collection. The papers along with the chipboard, doo-dads, pennants and stickers can create a wonderfully nostalgic place to keep those mementos.

So go out, create those memories and then create a place to save them.

Echo Park Jack & Jill | Mid Week Mojo Daffodil #4

Daffodil – Week 4 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

I got to see a bunch of new collections at the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show last month in Anaheim. Some were great, some not so much, but this  Echo Park Jack & Jill -Boy collection was definitely one of the favorites of the show. The mix of nostalgic icons with traditional boy colors made creating today’s Mid Week Mojo super fun. I remember when I saw this collection the first photo I imagined was this cute picture of Zach with his adorable suspenders and hat.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

Echo Park has many of their traditional awesome embellishments with this collection; stickers, chipboard, enamel dots. They have now ventured into the land of ephemera packs where you find tons of awesome die cuts for your projects. I also love the rich colors included in this collection. I wanted to keep scrapping, but had to finally go to bed. Check out some close ups of this layout:

Bo Bunny Isabella | Monday Craft Madness #6

Some days you really want to do something crafty, but either don’t have much time or much energy to create a big project. Card-making is a great way to get a little crafty without a huge time commitment. So today for Monday Craft Madness I used Bo Bunny’s Isabella Collection to make a few cards. Bo Bunny’s collections are always so great. There are neutral papers, bright papers, bold papers and traditional designs like dots or stripes along with more designer papers. A perfect compilation of color and design for card-making….. So today’s theme is:

Cards

Create some cards that you love, I flipped through a card-making magazine from Scrapbook and Cards Today and altered a few of my favorite looks. Here’s what I created:

Bo Bunny’s collection is always full of fun embellishments and bold colors. While I am not always a super fan of pink, I am kind of in love with how these cards turned out. Check out some close ups.
