How To-sday | Make Your Own Smashing Brag Book

As we continue our  Spring/Summer Design Team How To-sday postswe have an awesome How To from Design Team member Mary Pat Seihl. Mary has shown us how we can create our own Smash Book-like art journals.

• • • • •

Hi everyone, Mary Pat here with you today. I don’t know about you, but I love those Smash Journals that you can buy and make. I love the concept, however, they are a bit expensive. So I decided to make my very own using a dollar store Composition Book and some old scraps of pattern paper. Here is a look at my finished Craft Book.

These books are so fun and easy to make. I made you a quick video for you on how to make them. I hope you enjoy it and make your own Smash Book.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful and crafty day.

Thanks Mary! I think these are great books to make for children’s party favors or Christmas gifts.  I will be making some of these. Come back tomorrow and fly away with our  Mid Week Mojo!

Authentique Paper Multi-Collection Mega Kit | Monday Craft Madness #28

Never worry about having fabulous paper for any project when you pick up today’s steal.  Authentique Paper’s Multi-Collection Mega Kit includes 60 sheets of fabulous designs from five different collections. One of the best things about Authentique’s paper designs is that you can create fantastic projects without a ton of extra items. This brings us to our Monday Craft Madness theme:

Fussy Cutting!

What is fussy cutting? Well when you see a paper design and you love one of the elements, take the time to cut it out, add a pop dot and voilà! you have a project! Cut out flowers, chevron patterns or any other part of the paper you love. I made some cards with today’s Authentique Paper steal.

Look at how adding the pop dots under the “fussy cuts” adds great dimension to the cards.

Hey everyone! I am so excited to share my projects with you today! I was lucky enough to have the chance to work with the Graphic 45 ABC Primer Collection. This is a great set of vintage style papers with awesome matching die cut chipboard pieces. The timing of me receiving this product was absolutely perfect – my daughter graduated Playschool this month! A big moment for our little girl!

Creating a layout using these products was SO easy!

I layered a combination of chipboard items and paper elements to create some dimension on my layout.

Chalkboard techniques are a hot crafting trend right now, so I cut some stars out of black cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and used a white gelly roll pen to add some white stitching around the edges.

A simple title was made by stamping onto one of the lighter pattern cardstock using black ink. I also used my Cameo to make circles of various sizes with a few different papers that I could layer in the background.

I couldn’t stop there, since I still had a TON of goodies left! :) I think this collection would be loved by teachers, so I made a cute little gift for Bria’s Playschool teacher.

I created this super fun pencil gift box using three quarters of a sheet of cardstock, a couple other scraps of paper and a cutting file from the Silhouette store. Using some fluid chalk ink, I added some shading to the edges of my pencil to give it a vintage feel. I also made a cute little matching gift tag to attach to my pencil using one of the die cut cardboard pieces and a couple small pieces of cardstock.

The thing I love the most about designer collections like the ABC Primer collection, is that since everything coordinates so well, it’s almost impossible to make something that doesn’t turn out great!

I hope you liked my projects! Have an amazing day!

Authentique Paper Renew | Mid Week Mojo Peridot #5

Peridot– Week 5 of 10

New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Authentique Paper’s Renew Collection was created with the new year in mind, a chance for a new beginning. At our house we are celebrating a new beginning of sorts as well. Our oldest is graduating from high school next week (and we couldn’t be more proud). The Renew collection was perfect for this layout celebrating our Samantha. The rich colors and designs paired with all of the cool die cuts helped to create this layout:

Here is the sketch:

This collection has such great word-based die cuts. It makes it so easy to add that additional touch of sentiment to your projects.

The puzzle pieces are so fun to play with. They come in three different sizes on the die cut card. The small ones were perfect for this layout.

The sticker letters make creating a title quick and easy. Of course when I think of this one, I tear up a little. My girl is definitely way too big.
