Teresa Collins Candy Cane Lane | Monday Craft Madness #44

The holidays are different for me. I used to love wrapping presents and surprising my kids. Well they are all now teenagers and the fun and magic have dwindled a little bit. It seems all they want for Christmas this year is gift cards.  Not terribly fun for me to give, but if that’s what they want I guess I will have to play along. Today for Monday Craft Madness I tried to use a creative way to give my daughter gift cards from some of her favorite places. I used Teresa Collins’ Candy Cane Lane Collection to make this fun gift card holder….. So today’s theme is:

Gift-Giving

I’ve used this process to create mini albums before, this time the gift cards fit perfectly. I was able to create the base of this mini album with ONE sheet of 12×12 cardstock. Here’s what I created:

Here is a pattern you can use to create something similar. Score and fold along the dotted lines and cut along the solid line.  You are scoring horizontally 2 inches from the top and 2 inches from the bottom, and across the middle at 6 inches. Then scoring vertically every three inches. Cut along your middle score from the side to the first score at the 3 inch mark.

Then simply fold up the 2″ flaps and then in half at your 6″ score. Fold either side of the paper accordion style. Use your favorite adhesive to hold the whole thing together, slip in your gift cards and embellish how you like. Voila! – a perfect gift for a picky teenager.

I also added some of the 3×4 cards that come in this collection to the inside of the pockets but you don’t need to do that. I only decided to do that because the paper I chose had words and they ended up upside down when I folded up my mini album.

Hopefully she will like it.  We would love to see and hear about some of your hand made gift giving ideas – the holidays are getting closer and closer!

Teresa Collins Something Wonderful | Monday Craft Madness #39

We all love paper collections that have a specific theme. Birthday, Halloween or Christmas are some of my favorites. Sometimes it’s great to find a collection without a specific theme, one you can use for any project. Today for Monday Craft Madness I used Teresa Collins Something Wonderful to make a mini album to celebrate all of the wonderful things in our lives….. So today’s theme is:

Mini Album

Create something a mini album or a project about the wonderful things in your life. Here’s what I created:

I used two pieces of chipboard for the front and back covers and then just used my handy scoring tool and some cardstock to create the binding for this album.

I tried to leave some space for photos and journaling in this album so I can add things as we go along through this crazy life.

This collection was created without a specific theme in mind, just something that celebrates the wonderfulness in each of our lives. Hopefully we can all find something wonderful to celebrate.

Teresa Collins Urban Market | Mid Week Mojo Gardenia #5

Gardenia – Week 5 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

One of my favorite collections over the past year has to be  Teresa Collins Urban Market I was so excited I got to use it for today’s Mid Week Mojo The rich blues and neutral accents make it a collection that can be used for almost any project. I saw this picture of my co-worker’s son and immediately wanted to use it with this collection. The baby belly made me smile, with all the rolls of baby goodness.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

I couldn’t decide on a title for this layout so two it is! With the awesome wooden die cut letters and the cardstock sticker letters, making two titles was easy. Using the chipboard elements, pop dots and stickers creating dimension was easy on this layout.

Who doesn’t love baby rolls?

A big congrats to Sheryl Kloke, you are last week’s winner!

Teresa Collins Life Emporium |Mid Week Mojo Gardenia #3

Gardenia – Week 3 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

I love this collection.   Teresa Collins’s Life Emporium is a beautiful mix of color and texture. Cork Stickers & dots, vellum stickers, rub ons and wooden dots, not to mention the thick, textured papers are all things that would make a collection a favorite of mine. This collection, however centers its theme on gratitude. A perfect sentiment for this time of year, but add the pretty pastel colors, and the bold navy and you have something special. I decided to use some pictures of my oldest for today’s Mid Week Mojo her beauty matches that of this collection.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

When I first saw the papers I was obsessed with the woodgrain that had the overlay of flowers. The woodgrain is so reach and full of texture, but add that bit of flowers and wow, beautiful. It looks like they were stamped right onto a real piece of wood.

The pack of tags included in this collection is great as usual and perfect for adding journaling or even using to create a mini album. The chipboard pieces add dimension as always and match the sentiment of this collection perfectly.

Blessed doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about my girl. Using the cut apart paper to create the title made it quick and easy. Adding stickers (with pop dots), buttons, rub ons (yes I said rub ons) adds a little interest to the layout.

See that butterfly? That’s a rub on! I’m quite excited about the come back rub ons are making.

A big congrats to Kim Cheladyn, you are last week’s winner!

Teresa Collins Designs Masquerade Party | Monday Craft Madness #32

I realized that we have not done a color challenge in quite a long time. I normally look to projects to be a certain type of project rather than a certain color, but I have an awesome friend who’s favorite color is orange, so in honor of  her, the color of the day is Orange. Today we are reviewing a project I made last year with Teresa Collins’ Masquerade Party ….. Remember today’s theme is:

Orange

Create something with orange, or about a favorite orange thing, or even about oranges. Here’s what I created:

I was able to make this mini album using the papers from this collection as well as the file folders, you could also use the treat bags as pages.

All of  the chipboard pieces, stickers and die cuts make for easy embellishing.

I love creating things earlier than you need them, I feel so accomplished like I actually finished something.

A little bit of ribbon and some rings and ta-da and album made in a snap. Check out the rest of the pages:
