Two Berry Creative Twine | Monday Craft Madness #21

We all have staple items in our scrapbook stash: adhesive, cardstock, buttons, etc.  Twine has quickly become one of those staples for me. And I’m sure  Two Berry Creative Twine will become a staple in your stash too!  I tried to show off a few of the dozens and dozens of possible uses on some tags.  This brings us to our Monday Craft Madness theme…

Tags!

Tags can be used alone, on a layout, on a card, as part of a home decor project.  The possibilities are endless.  Here are some sample tags I created using Two Berry Creative Twine.

On the Christmas tag, I wrapped the twine around the tag and used it to hang the ornament.  On the flower tag I used the twine to hang the banner and for the bows.

On this tag I made a pom pom with the twine for the dot in the ‘hi.’

American Crafts Buttons

Winter Design Team member Bev Code is back with us today for more fun on the blog! Bev got to work with today’s steal,  American Crafts Buttons. She has created some fun projects to inspire us all. I’m definitely going to try out some of her ideas for embellishments and key chains!

My Design Team reveal this month at ScrapbookSteals is using American Crafts Buttons.

I thought I’d share a few ways I use buttons on my projects.

I made lots of fun accents to use. On the top left I made a homemade flower and added a button with twine bow. Working your way across the top line next up is a single button with double twine bow and finishing the top line I using a paper clip I added a button with  twine bow. Starting the bottom left row the next piece is a ribbon loop with an added button with twine bow followed by a tied a ribbon bow and added a button with twine bow and lastly a Layered Prima flowers and topped off with a button with twine bow. This is only a few ideas of embellishments that can be made using buttons.

The layout below shows how I used some of the above accents. I used three embellishments from above on this page.

On this cute tag I used the looped ribbon accent to top off the tag and added another button accent below.

Next up is my layout making a button tree. It was perfect for this cute boy page about two brothers. So whether you Cricut cut a tree, freehand cut a tree, or even just use some single branches, the button accents are perfect.

On this last project I used picture frame wire and started with a U shape. I then feed the wire through two of the four holes. At the bottom of the U, I left just a little wire and twisted it to make like a knot on the bottom. After adding the buttons I twisted the wire at the top of the buttons. Move up the wire about 1/4 to 1/2″ and twist again - this space is where I added the many tied ribbons. Next up is to find some small circular object, jar – anything small and circular (eg. a pin bottle). Wrap the wire around a few times and finish off twisting ends around the wire so they don’t come undone.
This cute accent I have seen done in Christmas colors and hung on the Christmas tree. I also think it’s a cute accent for any gift you wrap. Another idea I thought it would be perfect to put on the rings of the mini albums when you make them.

How To-sday | Hearts Galore Part 1

Today’s How To-sday comes to you from Winter Design Team member Bev Code! Bev created so many cute heart techniques that we just had to make the post into a mini-series! You can find part 2 on the blog on Thursday.

Hi and welcome today to Hearts Galore with me at ScrapbookSteals How To-sday. I am going to share lots of fun crafts using hearts of different sizes, shapes and textures. I am starting with the layout below.

DIY tutorial to make handmade heart embellishments

Misting the background is done by Cricut cutting a heart and adding 2 other plastic mesh hearts that are bought at the craft store that are used for needlepoint. They make a great cluster to mist through.

In this close up you can see the misted cluster and I added a dollar store felt accent on a wire stem with bow. I also started with layers of papers from Echo Park Yours Truly collection. With the layers you also see brads, and a chevron border. I added a title and some gem stones.

You start with a 3×9″ strip that you fold in half and round the corners. You do this with two coordinating papers. I used one plain and one polka dots.

Using my cutter I marked the 1″ and 2″ on the 3″ span and cut from the upper edge near but not at the top of half circle edge down to the bottom. If you weave at all. it’s easy to weave the 2 together — over and through the center — over and under alternating rows. The link above gives more details for the beginner.
