Simple Stories Legacy | Monday Craft Madness #37

I love the sentiment of today’s steal.  Simple Stories Legacy Collection has a beautiful sentiment of looking to your past and your family. I fell in love with the look of the collection and the quotes included. The whole collection reminded me of how my grandma, aunts and cousins all got together to make quilts for everyone’s wedding showers. So today for Monday Craft Madness I created a little wall hanging that reminded me of those quilting days ….. So today’s theme is:

Memory

Create something that celebrates a favorite memory of yours. Here’s what I created:

I found an 8×10 frame at a local craft store on clearance for about a dollar. I turned it into a little shadow box and I can change the inside however often I would like. It’s hard these days to connect our children to their family’s past. I think it’s important. Hopefully this is a little reminder and I can work harder on that.  Check out some close ups of the project. As usual I am in love with my pop dots.

Simple Stories Cozy Christmas | Monday Craft Madness #33

While all of Simple Stories’ collections are perfect for preserving memories, both in the traditional 12×12 format and the pocket page style, I noticed something fun about  Simple Stories Cozy Christmas  The pages, cards and other embellishments are perfect of other projects. One of my co-workers, Kerianne, has an adorable son, Mason. If you frequent any of the Steals.com websites you have probably seen his happy face. I decided to help him a little bit with his letter to Santa for this year. I can’t imagine Santa refusing Mason’s requests if he receives an entire mini album. So for today’s Monday Craft Madness I created a mini album letter to Santa…..  today’s theme is:

Mini Albums

Create an interesting twist on a mini album, like a letter to someone you love. Here’s what I created:

I love how the 6×8 pages included in this collection are all sorts of sizes and shapes. It offers a kinds of dimension and texture when you first look at the album. I added a few of the bits and pieces die cuts and enamel dots to the cover.

We figured a photo of mason will help santa remember who he is.

The chipboard pieces match up with the designs beautifully.

The die cut pages add a little bit of interest as you thumb through the album.

We used one of the 3×4 journaling cards for Mason’s present request list.

Santa can also keep track of where Mason will be all through December, just so they don’t miss each other.

And finally, Mason’s letter to Santa. It’s important to list all of the good things you have done throughout the year to get on Santa’s good side.

There’s room in this album to add more items, we are going to add lists from other members of Mason’s family. I just love the idea of sending a letter to someone you love in a mini album format. All of the care and love can flow through your creativity.

Sneak Peeks From Our Favorite Brands

Last week I was able to go to a little trade show, right here in Salt Lake City. I have been in and around the crafting world for over a decade and this is the first time I was able to attend a show without boarding an airplane first. This was a small show and closed to the public, so I thought I would show a little of what I was able to see from some of our favorite brands. (Please excuse some of my iPhone photos)

My Mind’s Eye

Bo Bunny

Echo Park & Carta Bella Paper

Silhouette - I’m loving what they are doing with fabric.

And last but definitely not least…

I have been trying to pick a favorite for days now, but I just can’t.  Do you have a favorite? Let us know!

Simple Stories December Documented | Monday Craft Madness #28

There’s nothing like planning ahead, or even just planning sometimes. Being able to get started on my December Daily album in July is somewhat of a luxury for anyone. I was lucky enough that today’s steal is  Simple Stories December Documented This collection is perfect for a December Daily project so for Monday Craft Madness I got started on my album…. Today’s theme is:

Mini Album

Create a mini album or share with us your favorite mini album. You could even get ahead and start your own December Daily album. Here’s what I created:

I was able to use some of the embellishments from My Mind’s Eye Mistletoe Magic collection as well, the colors and tones matched perfectly with this Simple Stories collection.

The 3×4 cards included in this collection are perfect for this project. I love that there are cards with numbers 1-25 to help move the process of this album along easily. Check out some more of the pages:

Simple Stories Charmed Life | Mid Week Mojo Daisy #8

Daisy – Week 8 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

When I saw the  Simple Stories Charmed Life collection, my heart skipped a little beat. The colors and patterns of this collection make it perfect for any project; boys, girls, men, women – whatever.I was excited to use it for today’s  Mid Week Mojo and this photo of little Liam in his plaid shirt worked perfectly.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

So many of the 12×12 papers in this collection are sectioned off not only into 3×4 or 4×6 cards, but 6×12, borders, 6×6 pieces and more. I loved these two 6×12 pieces and wanted to turn them into the background of the layout. I then used three of the 3×4 cards on the layout as well.

All of the die cuts, stickers and chipboard pieces leave endless possibilities to create dimension and interest on your projects.

With so many pieces in this collection, I can make dozens of more projects and I can’t wait to do so.

I created the title out of one of the die cut pieces and some of the alphabet/number stickers.

A big congrats to Kristy Mackeen, you are last week’s winner!
