Monday Craft Madness

Jen Hadfield Homegrown | Monday Craft Madness #14

My second daughter is about to graduate from High School. I know, I know…no way can I be that old, yet I am. It’s made me pretty nostalgic lately, but my main emotion is just pride in my little Lizzie. She has worked so hard and the end is in sight. She is a pretty mellow kid and not really wanting a party, however I am planning something. So today for Monday Craft Madness I used Jen Hadfield’s Homegrown Collection to make a celebratory banner….. So today’s theme is:

Banners

Create something that you can use for a banner. These days they are not just for celebrating, Home decor is an awesome way to use home-made banners. Here’s what I created:

Luckily in this collection there is already a great banner all ready to decorate. The black background and white letters look a little chalkboard-ey but ripe for decorating.  I kind of love how it turned out. I backed each letter with some of the 6×6 paper pad and added embellishments. Check out some close ups.

The big paper clips and the gold dipped tags are so fun. I can’t wait to find other ways to use the rest of the collection!

My Mind’s Eye Necessities | Monday Craft Madness #13

This was a challenge for me, on multiple levels.  I have never been great with limited colors and patterns. I love to mix up tons of happy colors and designs when I paper craft. Today was a different story. While today’s steal  My Mind’s Eye Necessities -Red & Teal was created to have a great supply of modern basics at your fingertips, I decided to try to use it on one project. This was tough for me, but I kind of love how it turned out. Today ‘s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Monochromatic

Create something monochromatic; a card, a layout or some other paper-crafting project. Here’s what I created:

This is a canvas approximately 12″ x 18″ and I wanted to show off this adorable newborn photo of baby Zachary. I love the patterns and colors of the papers in this collection and the fact that the color on the vellum papers is foiled – what is better than that? Maybe the glitter monogram alphas and the glitter washi tape, not much more in the world is better than that.

I tried three or four times to set the papers and embellishments to my liking and then I just decided to go for it. Stuck everything down and started to embellish. All of the texture and dimension with one color scheme has made me so happy. I wasn’t sure I would love this project, but in the end I may have to steal baby Zachary so I can keep this canvas.

October Afternoon Milk Money | Monday Craft Madness #12

October Afternoon always has awesome nostalgic collections. They have easily become some of my very favorites. Today for Monday Craft Madness I we are going to showcase some awesome projects made by the October Afternoon design team using the Milk Money Collection I love the pocket page movement and that you can mix up your scrapbooking and keep it interesting….. So today’s theme is:

Pocket Pages

Create something using a pocket page. Here’s what we found from the October Afternoon Design Team:

Jill Sprott created a great year in review pocket page with Milk Money.

I love this pocket page and how they added bits and pieces of info from school onto each square. Remembering the bits is hard to do when we get older, this is an awesome way to keep in in your memory.

Mou Saha created some beautiful work with pocket pages and Milk Money.

The simplicity of this look is amazing. The photos take center stage.

Laura Vegas created a great album about her time with CKU Scrapbook Conventions. I love the versatility of this collection that it can be used for more than school projects.

Jen Hadfield Home + Made | Monday Craft Madness # 11

This year I vowed to try to find something positive in every day. It seems to be a bit of a challenge for me and I tend to be a little sarcastic in my daily life. I then realized I probably needed a daily reminder. After a month or so of post-it notes cluttering my bathroom mirror, I decided to make something a little more fun. So today for Monday Craft Madness I used the Jen Hadfield Home + Made collection from Pebbles Inc to make a reminder to have on my desk at work….. So today’s theme is:

Motiviational

Create something motivational for yourself. Here’s what I created:

I loved the recipe box that comes in this collection and decided to use it to focus on one positive word each day. I love how this recipe box comes with so many cards, I can continue to add to my positive word stash as the year goes on.

The papers in this collection are so diverse, lots of different colors. They all coordinate beautifully and make it so you can create dozens of projects that don’t look the same.

What are your positive words for this year?

Teresa Collins He Said She Said | Monday Craft Madness #10

Today for Monday Craft Madness I couldn’t help myself in making more than one thing. The  Teresa Collins She Said Collection to just had to much wonderfulness to choose one creation. I reached for some awesome pictures of the super cute Jovi and her 1st birthday to create two of my projects. I couldn’t even stop there, I had to make some cards as well….. So today’s theme is:

Your Choice

Create anything you love; cards, banners, decor piece, layouts – whatever your heart desires. Here’s what I created:

I used chalkboard card bases from American Crafts for the cards, it allowed me to stretch out this collection kit even further. I didn’t have to create my own bases and I only use bits of the papers and the embellishments to create these cards. Here’s a closer look:

This is one of my favorite photos from Jovi’s 1st year photo shoot. She wasn’t sure about the party hat and the cake at first, but when she realized how the cake tasted, she dove in and loved it. The pure joy on her face made me want to create a wall hanging to highlight her joy. If only I could get away with eating cake this way.

The banner was super fun and quick to make. I used a kraft banner base from American crafts and again I was able to just use bits of my beautiful patterned papers. The banner took less than an hour once I chose the items I wanted to include. Now Jovi’s mom has it hanging in her cubicle at the office and we get to look at it every day. Check out some close ups of the banner pieces:

I really had fun with this collection, I’ve seen it many times but breathing new life into it was a blast. Don’t write off old collections in your stash, you can use them to create beautiful things for your beautiful life.
