New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection, is the perfect color combination for this time of year! It has all the colors and patterns for capturing your favorite spring photos. Today’s guest designer, Michelle King, shows us just how super cute this collection is, with two great sketches to inspire us all!

Hello there everyone! I have had so much fun and inspiration taking part in the Mid Week Mojos for over 2 years now (my how time flies)! When Kerys asked me if I wanted to put together a sketch of my own, my first thought was, “Yippee!!!” and then it was quickly followed by, “Oh my goodness, how can I compete with the incredible sketches that have been presented previously?!” Well, the fact that I was going to be able to play with My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection certainly pushed me to try.

I had so much fun with the beautiful pieces in this kit. I was seriously blown away by how much awesomeness could be in one kit. Of course, that means I couldn’t do just one layout…For my first layout, I wanted to use the brilliant orange scheme that is at the forefront of the kit (have I ever mentioned how much I like orange?). I wanted to be able to show off as much of the base paper I used on this one as I could because those big flowers just make me smile. At the same time I wanted to use as many embellishments as I could because there were so many and they fit so nicely on the page without feeling like they are overwhelming. I am normally someone who does not use a lot of embellishments, but found with these pieces, I wanted to keep adding! C’mon, how darling is that crocheted flower?

Here is my first sketch (Amber #5a):

And here is my layout:

Once I finished that one, I thought I should show that the kit isn’t just “tangerine.” There are some really pretty colors in this collection. So, for my second layout I decided to use the more muted colors. The pale yellows and aqua have a nice fresh feel to them. And again, I found myself pulling out some great embellishments to finish off the look. I love the title card because that really is how my youngest is — especially the “fearless” part (I think I get more grey hairs by the day).

Here is my second sketch (Amber #5b):

And here is my layout:

I even made a cute little bookmark for a swap I am in. I used the chevron pattern and then one of the cute cards in the kit. Voilà! Instant cuteness for any avid reader out there! AND…even though I am not really a card maker, I did make what I think is a pretty darn cute one (even if I do say so myself). The fact that it turned out the way it did just goes to show I had a great spread to choose from.

I hope you all have the chance to play with the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection because I continue to sit here thinking about what else I can use it for (I’m already pondering some altered projects). Hope you have fun with the sketches and thanks for having me as a guest sketcher.

When I was asked to be a guest sketcher at first I was shocked then so thrilled! Then came the ‘can I do this?’ There have been so many amazing scrapbookers on here, I didn’t think I could compare. But I got to thinking everyone has such different styles and strengths, what did it really matter?
When I found out I got to work with Carta Bella’s Paris Girl, I was even more excited because this line is so gorgeous. When I got it in the mail I was even more amazed with the texture and quality of the paper. So I really wanted to feature the paper in my LO. So here is what I came up with.

And here is the sketch:

I titled it ‘My Love, My Valentine’ and put the letters on all the rosette’s i made. Let me tell you, making all those rosette’s took along time but I think they really show off the paper well.
DIY handmade rosette embellishments
I love doilies and they always remind me of Valentines, so I wanted to add one in.

I thought the ticket stickers that came with the set had such cute sayings on them, that I just had to use them as well.

The 6×6 pad of paper is the same quality, and is also stunning! I just had to make a card with it! Here’s what I came up with.

So that’s it for me, thanks for having me as a guest sketcher, I had so much fun working with this paper. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Lawn Fawn Bright Side Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Jade – Week 4 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Today’s steal, the Lawn Fawn Bright Side Collection, is so bright and colorful it really makes you think of spring and summer! The double-sided papers have such cute patterns and colors perfect for little girls everywhere!

Today’s guest designer, Michele Duffy, shows us just how super cute this collection is, with a great sketch to inspire us all!

I’ve got a little confession to make.  I consider myself more of a cardmaker than a scrapper.  I’m working on that, though.  With the help of MWM sketches I’ve filled up two albums in the last year and a half!  So when I started to think about what kind of sketch I might create this week in order to inspire some true scrappers out there, I actually started with one of my cards.  Here’s one of my go-to card layouts, adapted to a 12×12 layout.  I think you could easily use one photo or several clustered together, up to you!
I got to create with Lawn Fawn’s lovely “Bright Side” paper collection.  I own several Lawn Fawn stamps, but this was the first time I used their patterned papers.  I love the tone-on-tone prints and bright colors in this collection. “Bright Side” definitely lives up to its name!
Here’s my layout, I used one 4×6 print trimmed down a little bit.
Now, I like pre-made embellies just as much as the next girl, but when working with this steal I was reminded that my love of paper crafting is really about one thing: the paper! I layered strips of paper along the left edge of the paper, using a border punch to make some pretty scallops.  I repeated the scallop border along my photo and journaling.  I then used some easy techniques to turn patterned paper into embellishments.  For instance, I punched these butterflies from the pink and turquoise papers for a quick corner embellie.
I also stamped and fussy cut some flowers to add some color by the title.
And fussy cut a tulip from the ‘smell the roses’ sheet of patterned paper to dress up my journaling block.
Most of the Bright Side prints are small and perfect for cards.  So let’s put that ‘layout’ sketch to work on some cards!
I gave this next card a less feminine and flowery look by using the green and blue papers on a kraft cardstock base.  (This is the back of the ‘jump for joy’ paper included in the collection.)
That’s it for me today!  Thanks so much for having me as your guest sketcher and I look forward to seeing your layouts this week!

My Mind’s Eye Winter Wonderland & All Is Bright | Mid Week Mojo

Jade – Week 1 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye Winter Wonderland & All is Bright, is one of my all time favorite Christmas collections! The kits are jam-packed with fun papers, embellishments, stamps and so much more – there is everything you could possibly need!

I  love how today’s guest designer, Jessica Arrant, shows us how to use this collection and gives you not one, but TWO sketches to use as well!

 • • • • •

Words can’t explain how excited I was to be asked to play here today. I danced around the house for a week. And when I found out it was My Mind’s Eye All Is Bright? I died and went to heaven. Seriously a new favorite line from one of my favorite manufacturers!

My first thought was to highlight some of the awesome Christmas graphics by fussy cutting them out of the various papers and layering them onto the same page. I also wanted to show off the subtle prints in this kit by mixing as many of them as I could. Gotta love the chevrons and polka dots. Here is the sketch I created:

And here is my layout:

I know many of you like to design two pages at the same time, so if you head over to my blog you’ll see how I had a little bit of fun with the facing page.

Here is my second sketch:

I love the use of blue in this collection! As prevalent as the Christmas theme is, it is also an incredibly versatile kit with more than enough papers to make a couple non-holiday pages with leftovers. I took this picture on Halloween! How’s that for non-traditional colors?

And how about a card, just for fun?!

I hope you all enjoy the sketches and I can’t wait to see all the awesome interpretations. You are all so inspiring!

  • • • • •

Thank you so much Jessica! I love how creative you were using this collection for a non-traditional Christmas layout shows us how far you can really take collections! You’ve definitely made me want to ‘steal!’
