Hey everyone! I am so excited to share my projects with you today! I was lucky enough to have the chance to work with the Graphic 45 ABC Primer Collection. This is a great set of vintage style papers with awesome matching die cut chipboard pieces. The timing of me receiving this product was absolutely perfect – my daughter graduated Playschool this month! A big moment for our little girl!

Creating a layout using these products was SO easy!

I layered a combination of chipboard items and paper elements to create some dimension on my layout.

Chalkboard techniques are a hot crafting trend right now, so I cut some stars out of black cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and used a white gelly roll pen to add some white stitching around the edges.

A simple title was made by stamping onto one of the lighter pattern cardstock using black ink. I also used my Cameo to make circles of various sizes with a few different papers that I could layer in the background.

I couldn’t stop there, since I still had a TON of goodies left! :) I think this collection would be loved by teachers, so I made a cute little gift for Bria’s Playschool teacher.

I created this super fun pencil gift box using three quarters of a sheet of cardstock, a couple other scraps of paper and a cutting file from the Silhouette store. Using some fluid chalk ink, I added some shading to the edges of my pencil to give it a vintage feel. I also made a cute little matching gift tag to attach to my pencil using one of the die cut cardboard pieces and a couple small pieces of cardstock.

The thing I love the most about designer collections like the ABC Primer collection, is that since everything coordinates so well, it’s almost impossible to make something that doesn’t turn out great!

I hope you liked my projects! Have an amazing day!

Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe Collection  the perfect color palette for any project. Olde Curiosity Shoppe is like stepping into lavish party, during the Victorian era, where imagination is the guest of honor. Our fabulous guest designer, Marisa Torp brings imagination to life using this collection with her hot air balloon photos.

Let me start by saying I am beyond thrilled to be a guest sketcher. I have been around Scrapbook Steals since before they hit 3,000 fans on the Facebook page. When I was asked to be a guest, I think I had a small heart attacked and then quickly said yes!!

I started scrapbooking a little more than two years ago with the First Mojo sketch, I was just setting out to make pretty pages to keep the memories of my family. It has turned into an obsession, and I love it every day.

Marisa Sketch Peridot 3 Mid Week Mojo

The papers for this collection were dark, so I decided to pull out a few pictures that were very vivid. I think the color offset the collection very well.

I really liked the “B” sides of the papers. I did a little fussy cutting with my craft knife and used the paisley as an embellishment.  I  added a little bit of twine to the title and the balloon brighten it up just that little bit more.

I couldn’t figure out how to incorporate the flying pigs from the collection, but they are super fun and I can’t wait to get them on a different layout.

How To’sday | Mist Masking

Today we have a bonus How To-sday  from the fabulous Venetia Holbrook.  She was kind enough to share with us a cool tutorial a few weeks ago on how to make your own pendant.  This week she is sharing with us an inexpensive technique to masking with your mists.

 • • • • •

Hi everyone! Venetia Holbrook here, with an inexpensive way to mask your layouts for mists. I am all about saving money, because then I have more to spend on ScrapbookSteals. I used the tip I am going to share on this layout of my daughter.

How To Masking Image Layout

Growing up, every tissue box had to be covered. All of my relatives had handmade plastic needlework covers of varying designs. It was unseemly to have a nude tissue box. Imagine what the neighbors would think! My tissue box is inappropriately dressed, but the memory of these covers sparked an idea for me.

I looked at the plastic webbing used for this type of needlepoint, and I found there were pre-cut shapes available for less than $1.

I chose to use this circle shape.

How To Masking Image 1

tip: I kept the tag on mine, but it snips right off. If you leave it on, make sure it is off the page or the area sprayed will be tag shaped too.

Place your plastic mesh on the paper.

How To Masking Image 2

Spray to your heart’s content. When you are done spraying, you can rinse the mist right off the mesh in the sink. Dry the mesh off, and it is ready to use again.

How To Masking Image 3

tip: Make sure you know if your mist is water soluble. If it is, and you let the mist dry on the mesh, it will run and muddy your colors if you use another mist on it.

Mixing colors and re-placing the mat does create some fun effects, like this background.

How To Masking Image 4

I really hoped you liked this How To’s. There are other shapes of mesh available, so have fun playing with mists.  Here is the final effect again.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks Venetia!  I remember those needle-point tissue boxes in my house when I was little too!  I am going to give this a try.  Keep watching for more mists to come up on ScrapbookSteals!  Make sure to come back tomorrow for a guest Mid Week Mojo from Marissa Torp!

How To-sday | Flower Making

Today we have an awesome How To from Deborah Johnson.  She’s going to show us how to create homemade flowers for your projects.  This is definitely something I am going to try!

• • • • •

Good morning scrappy-happy friends!   I wanted to share with you all the tutorial to make the flowers that you may have seen on several of my layouts lately.  They are super easy and take less than 10 minutes to create.

Supplies needed:

  • 2 3/8″ scalloped circle punch
  • scissors
  • brads
  • colorful scrapbook paper

First, punch a scalloped circle (or two!)

How To Make Flowers 1

Cut “petals” into the circle…all the way around.

How To Make Flowers 2

Begin bending the petal edges back.  This is what it looks like when they are all bent.

How To Make Flowers 3

Turn the flower over and press a brad through the center and “pinch the flower to conform to your desired look.

How To Make Flowers 4

Ta-dah!  Check them out on a project too!

How To Make Flowers 5

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my flowers, have a scrappy happy day!

Thanks Deborah!  Definitely going to try these myself.  Make sure to come back tomorrow for another awesome Mid Week Mojo!

Pebbles Candy Dots | Monday Craft Madness #24

Candy makes every day a little better, right?  With Pebbles Candy Dots you can make your projects a little bit better too!  Choose from Classic, Glitter or Crystal to add that little extra dimension to your projects.  This brings us to our Monday Craft Madness Theme:

Dimension

Add some extra dimension to a project.  Try some of the ideas in this post, use pop dots, buttons, flowers…whatever strikes your fancy!

We are lucky today to have Stephanie Eaken as our guest designer.  Her style is inspiring, I am going to try some of her ideas in my own projects!

My name is Stephanie Eaken and I am a 40 year-old stay-at-home mom. I have two kids who keep me busy, entertained, and scrapping! I love all things related to scrapbooking. I started scrapping about 9 years ago when my oldest was a baby and have not stopped! I intended to make a book of her first year only. Well, there was no looking back for me once I began. I was hooked!

 Monday Craft Madness Stephanie Eaken

I look forward to my scrappy time in my space in our basement. I would describe my style as eclectic. I love trying new and different things and techniques. I also tend to like the hot, new trends. I am always evolving. I scrapbook 12×12 pages, mini albums, and occassionally make cards and OTPs. I love working with kits, sketches and online challenges! Paper and glue have been longtime friends of mine!

Monday Craft Madness Stephanie Eaken thank u

The first is a thank you note. I used butterflies punched from various scrap papers to create a bit of a mosaic heart. The alphas are MME from the “Lush” collection. I used the Pebbles candy dots in various spots on the heart to cover empty spaces & in the sentiment of the card.

Monday Craft Madness Stephanie Eaken 4 You tag

We have several family & friends’ birthdays coming up this month, so I figured a gift tag was in order! I kept it pretty simple to be applicable to either gender. I used papers from Pink Paislee & fussy cut the doiles from a sheet of paper by Echo Park. The alphas are American Crafts Thickers. I adhered the Pebbles Candy Dots around the perimeter of the larger paper doily and placed one in the center of the butterfly. I also used a larger clear dot in the center of the doily. LOVE them!!

Monday Craft Madness Stephanie Eaken Mutual Love

My third project is a layout of my daughter & one of our dogs. I started by placing the doily under the patterned paper (from Studio Calico); I punched 2-inch circles from coordinating scrap papers. The butterflies were also punched from scrap papers (I love using up my scraps!). I then began the layering process & added Pebbles’ candy dots to the center of all the butterflies. I also scattered them randomly around the fiished page to add more color!
