My Mind’s Eye Now & Then | Monday Craft Madness #31

Today for Monday Craft Madness we have a treat. Laurel Seabrook is a fantastic Designer on the My Mind’s Eye design team. She created the most awesome cards using  Now & Then Milo & Izzy Collections to make some teacher cards. I for one am thrilled that my kids are back to school soon and getting them through each year is always smoother if they have a great teacher…. So today’s theme is:

Back to School

Check out the projects and Laurel’s blog post from the My Mind’s Eye Blog.

Hi everyone, Laurel here. As a teacher I was quite happy to get the assignment of teacher cards! I am a sucker for anything school related and that includes notebook or ledger type of paper.

One thing I love to is use non-themed collections for themed cards and I thought the Now and Then collections would work perfectly for this assignment. I started with the Now and Then Milo collection to create a couple of simple masculine cards.

Easy to do with layering of the paper, chipboard and stickers. I then chose to create a card using the Now and Then Izzy as I thought the map paper would be perfect for a teacher card.

I put my Silhouette to work and die cut an apple and a frame for this fun card and once again went to work layering. I thought I was done but then the Cut & Paste Flair was calling my name so I dug into it as well.

Supplies:Now & Then- Milo:  6 X 6 pad; Friends Accent Stickers; Documented Chipboard; Now & Then-Izzy: 6 X 6 pad; Good Times 3 X 4 pack; Cut & Paste- Flair: 6 X 6 pad; Today 5X7 Sticker Sheet; Wow Chipboard Stickers

A couple months ago, I came across some photos of My Mind’s Eye’s Market Street collection. When I saw all the gold foil accents to the papers, I was instantly in love. Imagine my giddiness when I found out I would get to work with this gorgeous paper for today’s Mid Week Mojo  I used the Ashbury Heights collection. The colors were so sunny and bright, not to mention that my three favorite colors are in this collection: aqua, coral, and gold! I had some pictures from my daughter’s recent 4th birthday that I knew would fit the color scheme perfectly.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

I decided to use stars instead of the circles and layered and stitched them to give them a little dimensional effect.
There was so much good stuff in this collection that I couldn’t stop at just a layout. I also made a Project Life page using the 3×4 cards, the 6×6 pad, the chipboard buttons and accents, enamel dots, and cardstock stickers. The 3×4 cards made this spread come together so easily.
I was inspired when I saw the Ready to Frame Art Prints with gold foil accents and decided I need to make a wall hanging. I used the print with 9 circles laid out in a grid and took a heart punch and layered multiple hearts and then stitched. To finish it off, I added a flair button to the gold foil circle.
I really enjoyed working with this paper and I can almost guarantee that you will not regret buying this stuff. It is SO much prettier in person. If you would like to find out more about me, please come check out my Instagram at or my blog at . Thank you so much for having me as your MWM hostess today! I look forward to seeing what you all create!

Fancy Pants Timber Grove | Monday Craft Madness #15

Today for Monday Craft Madness  we are thrilled to have some design team projects from Fancy Pants Designs. They all used  Fancy Pants Timber Grove to make their projects. As I looked at these creations and the Timber Grove collection, I had a feeling of warmth and family. After the freezing winter so many of us have survived, I love the warm, family feeling these projects bring….. So today’s theme is:

Family

Create something about your family, for your family or something that reminds you of family. Here’s what Fancy Pants’ designers created:

This card by Jenny Evans made me remember snow days as a child sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate.  Love this card

This cute card is so great with all of the layers although it kind of makes me want to say goodbye to winter instead of hello.

This layout by Greta Hammond shows exactly what we all feel when we think about our families. The bright happy stars she created are the perfect embellishments.

We are so thrilled to show a couple of projects created by the fantastic Jodi Sanford, Creative Director of Fancy Pants Designs. Jodi is the sweetest girl and always puts her family first, and it shows in her projects.

We hope all of these projects made you think of your family and the warmth they bring to your life.

How To’sday | DIY Magnetic Die Storage

Today we have a treat. The fabulous Heather Conklin is showing us her genius way to store her metal dies. I love this so much that I may make it just for a fun.

• • • • •

Good Morning!! I wanted to share with you a super quick and easy way to not only store your metal dies, but also display them. I started with a piece of magnet paper. You can buy this in various forms, but since I didn’t want to spend any money, I just used what I had on hand, which was the Silhouette Adhesive Magnet Paper. There are printable versions and rolls that you could also use for this.

I wanted to maximize the storage space for my dies, and put some 8″ x 10″ photo frames I had laying around to use.

Use the back of the frame, or the glass to figure out the correct size for you magnet paper. Sometimes the size of the photo that goes in the frame is just a tad smaller than the magnetic paper, so you may need to do some trimming.

You want to lay out your materials in this order: backing (foam or cardboard-whatever was in the frame if you need it for cushioning), the paper that comes with the frame to double check the size, glass, THEN your magnet paper.

Once the magnet paper is in, it covers the glass and you can start placing your dies on it.

This is how the frame looks with a few dies on it.

I really like using easel frames for this, as once I take them off of the wall, I can stand them on my craft desk.

And when I’m not using my dies, the frames can add a bit of interest to my walls!

You can also attach adhesive magnet to your furniture or wall. This is my mother-in-law’s amazing craft room, and she attached roll magnet to her craft desk. AMAZING!

Instagram Mini Photo Album – Guest Post by Melissa from Polka Dot Chair

I do it. My neighbor does it. Heck, I’m surprised my dog doesn’t doesn’t do it! What is “it” you ask? Instagram, of course! Instragram is a great way to document and share your experiences with your friends and family. Naturally as scrappers, we want to take this to next level. So what a special treat it is to have guest blogger Melissa from Polka Dot Chair to share her tutorial on We R Memory Keeper’s Instagram Mini Photo Albums with us.

Instagram Mini Photo Album on polkadotchair.com

I don’t know about you but I am absolutely addicted to Instagram! I love to flip though my feed a few times a day and see what all of my friends both near and far are up to. Yes there are lots of photos of kids, pets and drool worthy food, but I love ‘em all!

I also love using Instagram to document our everyday life and special occasions. I especially love it for vacations. It makes scrapbooking a vacation so much easier when you get home. Not only do you have a great collection of photos, you’ve got dates and captions tied to the photos too!

Instagram Mini Photo Album

Recently I decided that I would create an Instagram Photo album with some of my photos from our trip to Hawaii last summer. Nothing too time consuming but something simple and quick to get our trip documented.

I adore making mini scrapbooks, and have posted several here in the past. So when I saw the new 4” x 4” Instagram Albums from We R Memory Keepers, I did a double take.

It has got to be the cutest little scrapbook album I’ve ever seen!!
