Friday Project

My Mind’s Eye Kate & Co | Friday Design Team Project

Today we are excited to see our Design Team member Staci Jones make an awesome project with My Mind’s Eye’s Kate & Co collection. Staci chose Oxford Lane to work with and I don’t blame her. The colors are perfect for masculine projects, but some of the patterns are feminine. I am in love with this versatile collection!

Do you love today’s steal or what? I am in love with this MME Kate & Co line! The colors are simply gorgeous and rich and amazing! I squealed when I saw that Melodee had sent me Oxford Lane. It is a great collection for a boy or a girl. I love the challenge of making boy stuff so I ventured into making a baby gift for my nephew who is due this fall.

I grabbed a 12×12 chipboard wall hanging square from Hobby Lobby, spray adhesive, regular adhesive, my Silhouette, and the Oxford line and got to work.

I decided to do a big A for the baby’s name and left a nice spot for an adorable (because I know he will be :) ) picture of my nephew. I love this A because it is actually a box.

I used a 3D letter cut file for the Silhouette to create the box. I thought that it would be such a cute idea if the parents wrote little notes/memories of pregnancy and infancy and placed them in the box. This way, they could be easily found and in a safe spot.

The stickers, layered stickers, brads and enamel dots are always just so perfect to add those little extras to any layout or project.

Hey everyone! I am so excited to share my projects with you today! I was lucky enough to have the chance to work with the Graphic 45 ABC Primer Collection. This is a great set of vintage style papers with awesome matching die cut chipboard pieces. The timing of me receiving this product was absolutely perfect – my daughter graduated Playschool this month! A big moment for our little girl!

Creating a layout using these products was SO easy!

I layered a combination of chipboard items and paper elements to create some dimension on my layout.

Chalkboard techniques are a hot crafting trend right now, so I cut some stars out of black cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and used a white gelly roll pen to add some white stitching around the edges.

A simple title was made by stamping onto one of the lighter pattern cardstock using black ink. I also used my Cameo to make circles of various sizes with a few different papers that I could layer in the background.

I couldn’t stop there, since I still had a TON of goodies left! :) I think this collection would be loved by teachers, so I made a cute little gift for Bria’s Playschool teacher.

I created this super fun pencil gift box using three quarters of a sheet of cardstock, a couple other scraps of paper and a cutting file from the Silhouette store. Using some fluid chalk ink, I added some shading to the edges of my pencil to give it a vintage feel. I also made a cute little matching gift tag to attach to my pencil using one of the die cut cardboard pieces and a couple small pieces of cardstock.

The thing I love the most about designer collections like the ABC Primer collection, is that since everything coordinates so well, it’s almost impossible to make something that doesn’t turn out great!

I hope you liked my projects! Have an amazing day!

Hello Everyone,

Mary Pat here with you today and I just loved working with the Pebbles Chalk Kit. This kit is just so fun to work with. I love how versatile it is. I made three projects for you today showing all the different things that you can do with this amazing kit.

In the kit you get stencils to create wonderful projects. I used the sun and rain drops to create this card.

For the second project I made a birthday tag. The ombre look is very hot right now and using the chalk  I was able to create this cool look. The chalks really blend well together and it was very easy going from the darkest shade of pink to the lightest shade.

For my final project I altered a photo. Starting with a black and white photo printed on non glossy paper, you can add color to certain areas of the photo by using the chalk. The look is so soft and subtle but simply amazing.

I have created a video for you showing how I created these three awesome projects. I hope you enjoy it and I think you are totally going to love this wonderful steal!

See you next time! Have a wonderful and crafty day!

Thanks Mary! That ombre effect is very cool and I can’t wait to try it on one of my projects.

Authentique Paper Original | Friday Design Team Project

Design Team Member Staci Jones is with us today for her first post. Staci has been in our ScrapbookSteals community since the beginning.  I for one just love seeing her work! Staci is working with Authentique Paper’s Original Collection.  This collection is very versatile and Staci shows you how!

I am so excited to share with you my first Design Team post. Not only do I love Scrapbooksteals, but I just love today’s steal!

I have a little boy who loves football, especially our favorite college team whose colors happen to be blue and white. This poor little boy has been in a poorly decorated bedroom for the last couple of years because I just couldn’t find the right decorations. Then Melodee handed me Authentique’s Original Collection. Immediately, I knew that is was just what my little boy’s room needed.

After a couple hours spent in my craft room with my Silhouette, some ink, cardstock, and Original, my son has a room that is finally decorated to suit his football love.

I used some football images from the Silhouette store cut out on cardstock and adhered to either the 12×12 or 6×6 sheets of original to make some easy framed images and wall hangings.

I love banners and really wanted one with the team name for his wall. Super easy and quick to make.

Because it is a football room, the room wouldn’t be complete without a football and a a flipbook with his football game pictures.

My little boy loves his room, my husband loves the room, I love the room, and I still have plenty of paper left over to do some great football layouts for his scrapbook!

Thanks for joining me today!

Thanks Staci!  I love how you could decorate a room with one kit.  What an awesome job!  Make sure to come back on Monday to see a project using a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

We R Memory Keepers Antique Chic Collection

We R Memory Keepers Antique Chic collection is a versatile collection full of  goodies.  The layered chipboard pieces, buttons, brads, embossed stickers and crochet flowers add the perfect touch to your projects.

In working with this collection, I gave myself a challenge. . . my parents just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, to commemorate the event, I wanted to make a photo album.  Antique Chic matched the event perfectly (not only because my parents are antiques).

My plan:

  1. get my 7 brothers and sisters to contribute a page, but I knew that would never happen
  2. make all eight pages  and just get photos from the siblings (still hasn’t happened)
  3. use the Amber Sketches to save time, and see if I could make all eight pages with the same kit, and see how long it would take me

To my surprise I was able to make all eight base pages in about an hour and a half…then I went back and added the embellishments.

I even had enough left over to create a few cards:

I was thrilled to be able to use just about every stitch of this collection kit for this project. That  feels good, although I may need to get another kit for my stash!

Make sure to check back on Monday for a Simple project.
