Friday Project

Fancy Pants Nautical

As you are reading this blog post, I am in sunny Las Vegas with my middle daughter Lizzie. We took a road trip for the weekend to attend a concert. Part of my planning for our girls trip was to create this journaling album that I can fill out during the trip. My daughter is quite funny and says the funniest things and having a place to document it all will be fantastic. The Fancy Pants Nautical Collection was the perfect travel-themed collection for this project and the mini brag book…well how many times can I say perfect?  Check it out:

I love the title on the cover, it fits famously with our concert-going weekend. The little envelope on the front will hold our receipts and trinkets from the trip.

These mini brag books are so cool, in addition to pages with lines for journaling there are plastic sheet protectors in two different sizes so you can add the photos easily. I tried to think of the things that would happen during our road trip and pre-plan some pages.

I liked decorating the back of the journaling pages as well, makes for a fancier journal.

Did you see what concert we are going to attend? I am so excited.

We will for sure make some time to go to the pool while in the sunshine. This page that is titled ‘Pool Time’ is also a pocket page where I can save more trinkets from our trip.

Teresa Collins Something Wonderful

My oldest daughter has a friend from high school getting married this weekend. While I am mostly happy for them, I am totally freaked out that my oldest could be going down that path at any time now. We wanted to create a present for them, a little album where they could document the story of their wedding weekend and Teresa Collins’ Something Wonderful was the perfect collection. Here’s the album:

I used two pieces of chipboard for the front and back covers and then just used my handy scoring tool and some cardstock to create the binding for this album.

I tried to leave some space for photos and journaling in this album so the young couple can add things as they see fit.

This collection was created without a specific theme in mind, just something that celebrates the wonderfulness in each of our lives. Hopefully we can all find something wonderful to celebrate.

Fantastic Friday | My Mind’s Eye Cut & Paste

I am privileged to be a part of several groups on Facebook made up of very creative women.  We all love this hobby of scrapbooking and love to share our creations. One of these groups has a tag swap several times a year. I wish I had time to participate, but I love seeing all of the creations.  I thought that My Mind’s Eye’s Cut & Paste Collection is the perfect collection to have my own little tag swap. The eclectic mix of papers and embellishments create wonderful variety in projects.

Tags are great to have around for putting on gifts or just hanging up in your cubicle at work to bring a smile to your face.

The Flair Collection has just a hint of chalkboard along with soft pastel colors for a perfect contrast. The Presh Collection is a fun eclectic mix of colors and patterns that all just work together.

These tags are so cheery that I think I will keep them in my office to brighten my day.

The dimension from the chipboard and layered stickers makes for greater interest in your creations. Check out some close ups.

Fantastic Friday | October Afternoon Midway

There’s an amusement park about 20 minutes north of where I grew up. I have so many great memories of trips there with family and friends. October Afternoon’s Midway Collection brings back those fun memories.  I was talking with my sister a few days ago about her summer road trip with her boys visiting amusement parks, and I decided to create a journaling mini album they can take with them to record the fun things that will inevitably happen.

I used an envelope mini album from Farmhouse Paper that already has of the pages there. All that was left for me to do was my favorite thing — decorate the pages!

I left some space for journaling, but since my teenage nephews are men of few words there gets to be more space for the cute stickers, die cuts and buttons. This album has envelops already included for ticket stubs and souvenirs — perfect for the Midway theme and their road trip.

Check out the rest of the pages.

Now that I have made the album, I just need to see if I can stow away on the trip.

My Mind’s Eye Enamel Dots & Shapes

Rounding out our Design Team Picks week, we have the awesome Wendi Robinson showing us some of her creations today. Enamel dots and shapes are on the top of all of the top picks lists out there, I personally am kind of in love with them.

Check out what Wendi created with these My Mind’s Eye Enamel Dots & Shapes. There are so many possibilities with enamel dots & shapes, here are a few ideas.

Add them to a layout in the white space to add visual interest.  Also, how cute are those enamel quotation marks on this layout?

I love how Wendi used the dots to fill the holes in her punched border on this card. They fit so perfectly, they were meant to be!

A splash of color from these enamel shapes help focus your eyes on this card. I love the bright geotag and triangle pointing to the sentiment.

I am using enamel dots and shapes more and more in my projects, what is your favorite use for them?
