Authentique Paper Christmas in July | Monday Craft Madness #34

Are you ready to start your holiday preparations? Is it that time already? Well, yes it is and with Authentique Paper’s Christmas in July mega kit, you can get started and finished with ease. I was lucky enough to create a project with this Christmas collection while working with Authentique Paper. I am excited to share it here.  This brings us to this week’s Monday Craft Madness Theme:

Countdown

Create something with a countdown. Here you will see a Christmas countdown advent calendar. You can choose something else, for example: countdown to an event, like an anniversary or wedding or celebration, your 10 favorite things your child or grandchild or best friend says, your favorite quotes, favorite recipes or favorite snacks, endless possibilities come to mind.

Check out my advent calendar countdown:

It’s actually pretty easy to make. First, choose an advent calendar. This on came white with little drawers.

Choose your supplies, a favorite Christmas collection. Even though we all know I am biased, the Festive Collection from Authentique Paper is one of my all-time favorites.

Predictably, my supplies include an ink pad. The black accent tones in this collection made the ink choice an easy one for this project.

I cut out enough square pieces to cover the fronts of all of the drawers. I set them out to make sure I evenly dispersed the colors and patterns. The 6×6 paper pad has great, rich colors on the backs of the papers which adds to the variety of the papers.

After measuring and cutting all of the squares, the decorating was the fun part. Adding stickers and using pop dots was quick and easy and made the advent calendar look great. (If I do say so myself)

Hope you all enjoyed this little advent calendar. I am feeling a little prepared for the upcoming holiday season (but just a little).

Happy Birthday scrapbookSTEALS Blog Hop & Online Crop

This is a week of celebration, so we’re doing a little something extra! Departing a little bit from our traditional blog hop format and preparing for our online crop this evening, we have invited several of our tried and true scrapbookSTEALS.com’s fans to play along with fun challenges and inspire us along the way!

First, some business: tonight’s online crop will be from 6:00 – 8:00 Mountain Time, with a video chat from 6:30 – 7:30.  Click here to join in the live chat!

Second, our online crop challenges. Choose one or choose all, just have a blast scrapbooking! Post links to your entries here in a comment. You have until next Wednesday July 17th at 11:59 PM MT to post your entry. We’ll select a random winner from each challenge to receive some birthday scrappy goodies.  Here are your challenges along with some examples from our wonderful friends Sheryl Kloke and Minousha Bari! (entries do not need to be only layouts, f or challenges 2, 3, & 4 can be cards, mini albums, home decor – whatever strikes your fancy!)

Challenge #1 – Happy 4th Birthday – use 4 items

Use four items and ONLY four items for your project. For example on a layout my four items could be: patterned paper, ink, buttons, and twine. Now you can use multiple pattern papers and multiple colors of buttons, but NOT eyelets (since I chose buttons) or ribbon (since I chose twine).

Challenge #2 – 2009

Since we launched in 2009, do a project remembering your favorite part of the year. Choose your favorite song: Black Eyed Peas Boom Boom Pow, Lady Gaga Poker Face, Jason Maraz I’m Yours, or Taylor Swift You Belong With Me. Or your favorite movie: Star Trek, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Avatar, or Up. Or it could be the birth of a child or grandchild, a wedding, a break-up, whatever was your stand out moment for 2009.

 Challenge #3 – Favorite Vendor

Choose your favorite scrapbookSTEALS.com vendor and create a project using their products. Can you guess what manufacturers Sheryl and Minousha have chosen?

Challenge #4 – Washi Fever

Create a project using everyone’s newest obsession, washi tape. On this project you must use 4 different tapes (since we are celebrating our 4th birthday).

Finally, blog hop along to our fans and friends and see their interpretation of our challenges.  I must say, you will come back truly inspired. Visit the following blogs to see examples of the challenges. Our fans are truly amazing and we here are thrilled and humbled you are all part of our scrapbookSTEALS family!

Authentique Paper Multi-Collection Mega Kit | Monday Craft Madness #28

Never worry about having fabulous paper for any project when you pick up today’s steal.  Authentique Paper’s Multi-Collection Mega Kit includes 60 sheets of fabulous designs from five different collections. One of the best things about Authentique’s paper designs is that you can create fantastic projects without a ton of extra items. This brings us to our Monday Craft Madness theme:

Fussy Cutting!

What is fussy cutting? Well when you see a paper design and you love one of the elements, take the time to cut it out, add a pop dot and voilà! you have a project! Cut out flowers, chevron patterns or any other part of the paper you love. I made some cards with today’s Authentique Paper steal.

Look at how adding the pop dots under the “fussy cuts” adds great dimension to the cards.

Bo Bunny Welcome Home | Mid Week Mojo Peridot #2

Peridot – Week 2 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here!

Bo Bunny’s Welcome Home Collection is the perfect collection for all kinds of projects!  It was ideal for this week’s Mid Week Mojo and the photos of Erin Shultz’s new baby Alexa.  When I saw the photos of little Alexa, I just knew this collection would be the best way to say “Welcome Home.”  Here is my layout:

Mid Week Mojo Bo Bunny Welcome Home Main

Here is the sketch:

Mid Week Mojo Peridot 2 Sketch (797x800)

I love this collection and how neutral it can be.  The earthy colors with splashes of blue can compliment any project.  The layered chipboard pieces are an easy way to add dimension.

Mid Week Mojo Bo Bunny Welcome Home Close

There are tons of embellishments in this kit in addition to the layered chipboard.  The layered stickers, chipboard stickers, buttons, jewels, cardstock stickers, brads, and metal trinkets are great for adding to any project.

With this collection I couldn’t resist creating a couple of cards.  I took the base of the sketch with the strips of paper as the background and made these two cards.

Now I have a couple of hand  made cards around in case I need to send a little note to someone.  I love that!

Challenge #1 – “5″

Since we are celebrating with BabySteals.com’s 5th Birthday this week, create a project with 5 different pattern papers, 5 embellishments (buttons, brads, ribbon, twine, flowers etc) and 5 word-based items (title, journaling, stickers etc)

Challenge #2 - Your favorite song…now

Create a layout inspired by your favorite song right now.  It could be an old favorite or a new one.  It could be the title of your layout or mentioned in the journaling.  Think of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” and create a layout of a loved one.  Or maybe it’s Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and a layout dedicated to your kids.

Challenge #3 – Twine

Since we are showing off twine in today’s Blog Hop, use some twine on your project!  It can be a little or a lot.  Use our awesome Blog Hop participants as inspiration to create something wonderful with twine.

Challenge #4 – Right Now

Create a project about Right Now.  It could be a layout about yourself, one of your kids, how much you love someone, or your hopes and dreams for the rest of the year.  Whatever inspires you about the words “Right Now”
