Bo Bunny Welcome Home | Mid Week Mojo Peridot #2

Peridot – Week 2 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here!

Bo Bunny’s Welcome Home Collection is the perfect collection for all kinds of projects!  It was ideal for this week’s Mid Week Mojo and the photos of Erin Shultz’s new baby Alexa.  When I saw the photos of little Alexa, I just knew this collection would be the best way to say “Welcome Home.”  Here is my layout:

Here is the sketch:

I love this collection and how neutral it can be.  The earthy colors with splashes of blue can compliment any project.  The layered chipboard pieces are an easy way to add dimension.

There are tons of embellishments in this kit in addition to the layered chipboard.  The layered stickers, chipboard stickers, buttons, jewels, cardstock stickers, brads, and metal trinkets are great for adding to any project.

With this collection I couldn’t resist creating a couple of cards.  I took the base of the sketch with the strips of paper as the background and made these two cards.

Now I have a couple of hand  made cards around in case I need to send a little note to someone.  I love that!

Challenge #1 – “5″

Since we are celebrating with BabySteals.com’s 5th Birthday this week, create a project with 5 different pattern papers, 5 embellishments (buttons, brads, ribbon, twine, flowers etc) and 5 word-based items (title, journaling, stickers etc)

Challenge #2 - Your favorite song…now

Create a layout inspired by your favorite song right now.  It could be an old favorite or a new one.  It could be the title of your layout or mentioned in the journaling.  Think of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” and create a layout of a loved one.  Or maybe it’s Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and a layout dedicated to your kids.

Challenge #3 – Twine

Since we are showing off twine in today’s Blog Hop, use some twine on your project!  It can be a little or a lot.  Use our awesome Blog Hop participants as inspiration to create something wonderful with twine.

Challenge #4 – Right Now

Create a project about Right Now.  It could be a layout about yourself, one of your kids, how much you love someone, or your hopes and dreams for the rest of the year.  Whatever inspires you about the words “Right Now”

Pebbles Walnut Grove Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Amber – Week 6 of 10

New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Pebbles Walnut Grove Collection is such a bright, fun collection perfect for boys and girls! There are flowers, chevrons, plaid, and woodgrain patterns in a rich combination of reds, blues, yellows, pinks and grays. Mix and match the papers for whatever theme you want! The embellishments are pretty cool too! SO much fun to use – a great steal for everyone!

Here is this week’s sketch:

And here is my layout.

Scrapbooking layout using Pebbles Walnut Grove Collection

I love all of the brightly colored embellishmenats that come with this collection. There are lots of banners with title phrases on them, dimensional flowers and washi tape stickers. I switched out the button on this flower so that it would coordinate with the colors on my layout. That’s something I often do to ready-made embellishments – it just personalizes your layout at the same time.

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

Again, I used a dimensional flower in the opposite corner for some symmetry, and more washi tape stickers. Some of the washi tape has sentiments and phrases on them, which is perfect for adding that extra note.

I also used two of the tags in the collection I removed the top part of the tag and used them as the banner, along with two more dimensional stickers that I took apart! Makes for a cute banner, with some added faux stitching!

Fancy Pants Designs Time for Spring Collection | Monday Craft Madness #19

The Fancy Pants Designs Time for Spring Collection is such a super cute collection, I loved creating this week’s projects. The collection is girly with lots of fun flowers and teapots in pinks, browns, blues and creams. There are adorable die cut words, flowers and frames, and coordinating alphabet stickers that finish off this collection perfectly. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme…

Tea for Two!

Use the tea party/picnic theme, or use the number two as part of your title/sentiment  on your projects!

DIY handmade tea party crafts

The first thing you need for the tea party is an invitation! I decided to cut out a teapot shape on my Silhouette and use this for the front of the card.

The papers are just perfect for  cute little teapot, and I love the word and flower die cuts for a little added decoration.

I then decided to make a cute little ‘teabag’ gift bag.

Again, I used my silhouette with the matching papers and embellishments. This is definitely MY cup of happy!

And lastly, you can’t go to a tea party without cakes! I decided to cover this plain white cupcake box with the same papers.

I first used a brown ink pad to ink around all of the edges of the box, so that there were no white edges showing after I had covered the box with papers. I then just measured each side, inked the edges of the papers and stuck them on!

The die cuts were then added to the front for decoration and to tie all the pieces together.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘tea for two’ projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities!

My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection | Mid Week Mojo

Amber – Week 5 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo? Get started here!

Today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection, is the perfect color combination for this time of year! It has all the colors and patterns for capturing your favorite spring photos. Today’s guest designer, Michelle King, shows us just how super cute this collection is, with two great sketches to inspire us all!

• • • • •

Hello there everyone! I have had so much fun and inspiration taking part in the Mid Week Mojos for over 2 years now (my how time flies)! When Kerys asked me if I wanted to put together a sketch of my own, my first thought was, “Yippee!!!” and then it was quickly followed by, “Oh my goodness, how can I compete with the incredible sketches that have been presented previously?!” Well, the fact that I was going to be able to play with My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection certainly pushed me to try.

I had so much fun with the beautiful pieces in this kit. I was seriously blown away by how much awesomeness could be in one kit. Of course, that means I couldn’t do just one layout…For my first layout, I wanted to use the brilliant orange scheme that is at the forefront of the kit (have I ever mentioned how much I like orange?). I wanted to be able to show off as much of the base paper I used on this one as I could because those big flowers just make me smile. At the same time I wanted to use as many embellishments as I could because there were so many and they fit so nicely on the page without feeling like they are overwhelming. I am normally someone who does not use a lot of embellishments, but found with these pieces, I wanted to keep adding! C’mon, how darling is that crocheted flower?

Here is my first sketch (Amber #5a):

And here is my layout:

Once I finished that one, I thought I should show that the kit isn’t just “tangerine.” There are some really pretty colors in this collection. So, for my second layout I decided to use the more muted colors. The pale yellows and aqua have a nice fresh feel to them. And again, I found myself pulling out some great embellishments to finish off the look. I love the title card because that really is how my youngest is — especially the “fearless” part (I think I get more grey hairs by the day).

Here is my second sketch (Amber #5b):

And here is my layout:

I even made a cute little bookmark for a swap I am in. I used the chevron pattern and then one of the cute cards in the kit. Voilà! Instant cuteness for any avid reader out there! AND…even though I am not really a card maker, I did make what I think is a pretty darn cute one (even if I do say so myself). The fact that it turned out the way it did just goes to show I had a great spread to choose from.

I hope you all have the chance to play with the My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine Collection because I continue to sit here thinking about what else I can use it for (I’m already pondering some altered projects). Hope you have fun with the sketches and thanks for having me as a guest sketcher.
