My Mind’s Eye Now & Then | Monday Craft Madness #31

Today for Monday Craft Madness we have a treat. Laurel Seabrook is a fantastic Designer on the My Mind’s Eye design team. She created the most awesome cards using  Now & Then Milo & Izzy Collections to make some teacher cards. I for one am thrilled that my kids are back to school soon and getting them through each year is always smoother if they have a great teacher…. So today’s theme is:

Back to School

Check out the projects and Laurel’s blog post from the My Mind’s Eye Blog.

Hi everyone, Laurel here. As a teacher I was quite happy to get the assignment of teacher cards! I am a sucker for anything school related and that includes notebook or ledger type of paper.

One thing I love to is use non-themed collections for themed cards and I thought the Now and Then collections would work perfectly for this assignment. I started with the Now and Then Milo collection to create a couple of simple masculine cards.

Easy to do with layering of the paper, chipboard and stickers. I then chose to create a card using the Now and Then Izzy as I thought the map paper would be perfect for a teacher card.

I put my Silhouette to work and die cut an apple and a frame for this fun card and once again went to work layering. I thought I was done but then the Cut & Paste Flair was calling my name so I dug into it as well.

Supplies:Now & Then- Milo:  6 X 6 pad; Friends Accent Stickers; Documented Chipboard; Now & Then-Izzy: 6 X 6 pad; Good Times 3 X 4 pack; Cut & Paste- Flair: 6 X 6 pad; Today 5X7 Sticker Sheet; Wow Chipboard Stickers

My Mind’s Eye Joyous | Monday Craft Madness #26

When July comes around everywhere we go we start seeing holiday decorations. They used to bother me, making me feel guilty for not having started my holiday planning yet. Over the past couple of years I have a new philosophy; if you can’t beat them, join them. So today for Monday Craft Madness I used My Mind’s Eye New Joyous Collection to start making my Christmas cards….. So today’s theme is:

Cards

Create some cards and show us your favorites. Here’s what I created:

I love how this collection feels so traditional, but isn’t really. The bold reds and blues have a splash of green, usually you see the traditional red and green with some splashes of other colors. This was fun to work with. The cardstock stickers included in the collection kit make for quick cards.

Included in this collection is a package of pre-made, die cut tags. Super easy to just add a quick bit of twine and embellishment and voila, card all done.

I mentioned how much I loved the blues in this collection, those papers along with the red glittered papers in this collection add that little extra pizzazz to your cards and other projects.  The decorative brads are also a beautiful, easy embellishment to add to your creation.

The red chevron is my favorite piece in this collection. Here I used more of the tags to create the sentiments. Add some word stickers and pop dots and there is a little extra touch.

Check out some more close ups of the cards and hopefully they will inspire you to start working on your holiday projects too.

How To’sday | DIY Ombre Glitter

We hopped on the ombre bandwagon for this How To’sday with Tim Holtz Distress Glitter.

DIY-Ombre-Glitter01

1) Create 5 different shades of glitter: the two pure hues, the darker hue mixed with a little of the lighter shade, a 50/50 blend, and the lighter hue mixed with a litter dark.

2) Apply regular old glue.

3) Swipe the glue onto cardstock using a thick business card for a flat application.

4) Sprinkle the glitter starting with the ends and make your way toward the middle.

5) Shake off excess glitter and keep it as a “middle” base for your next ombre project. Just add a little light or dark to it.

This is a very simple idea that can be used on anything from crafts to cards. Get creative and go wild with it — use complementary or contrasting colors! In the future, I think I’m going to make ombre glittered tea lights using this method.

Fancy Pants Timber Grove | Monday Craft Madness #15

Today for Monday Craft Madness  we are thrilled to have some design team projects from Fancy Pants Designs. They all used  Fancy Pants Timber Grove to make their projects. As I looked at these creations and the Timber Grove collection, I had a feeling of warmth and family. After the freezing winter so many of us have survived, I love the warm, family feeling these projects bring….. So today’s theme is:

Family

Create something about your family, for your family or something that reminds you of family. Here’s what Fancy Pants’ designers created:

This card by Jenny Evans made me remember snow days as a child sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate.  Love this card

This cute card is so great with all of the layers although it kind of makes me want to say goodbye to winter instead of hello.

This layout by Greta Hammond shows exactly what we all feel when we think about our families. The bright happy stars she created are the perfect embellishments.

We are so thrilled to show a couple of projects created by the fantastic Jodi Sanford, Creative Director of Fancy Pants Designs. Jodi is the sweetest girl and always puts her family first, and it shows in her projects.

We hope all of these projects made you think of your family and the warmth they bring to your life.

My Mind’s Eye Cut & Paste | Monday Craft Madness #14

I am usually a bit of a procrastinator, ask anyone. This year I wanted to get a jump on Mother’s Day cards. With all of the moms, mother-in-laws, and awesome women in our lives, we seem to need dozens of cards each year. Today for Monday Craft Madness I used My Mind’s Eye Cut & Paste to make some of the cards I am going to need this year….. So today’s theme is:

Cards

Create a card or show us your favorite cards.. Here’s what I created:

The colors and theme of the Adorbs collection matched perfectly with the sentiments I want to send to all of my mothers. The included 4×6 cards make great bases for 5×7 cards. Here are some close-ups.
