My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell Collection | Monday Craft Madness #11

The My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell Collection is such a versatile collection, it can be used for girls or boys, big or small. There is a mixture of chevron, striped and spotted patterns, along with a variety of floral designs, in such a gorgeous blues, yellows and grays, the theme is up to you. I decided to scrap my baby boy this week, along with making a baby shower card – which means this week’s Monday Craft Madness theme is:

Baby Blues!

You could make layouts, cards or altered projects baby related or even just use the color blue. The choice is yours!

I loved the color combination in this collection and thought it worked perfectly for a layout of my baby boy.

I used a sketch from our very talented Design Team Member Bev Code.

The embellishments that came with this collection were just adorable, and I tried to find a way to use as many as I possible could! I clustered some of the embellishments at the bottom corner of my photo. The notebook paper and flower are both stickers, which I then layered with a wooden button and brad. The other two embellishments came ‘ready done.’ I love this about MME – they do all the hard work for you!

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

As I have said previously, the new enamel dots from MME are one of my greatest finds! I knew I wanted to do a small banner underneath the photo but I didn’t want the twine that I normally use with them. Instead I used the enamel dots to finish off’ the chipboard banner. I love that they come in different sizes in coordinating colors!

Adding dimension and texture to scrapbooking layouts

Next, I decided to make a baby card. The colors and patterns are perfect for this, and it kept within my theme.

I fussy cut two of the borders from the border sheet, and added one of the tiny word stickers as a final touch.

I used my Cricut to cut out the stroller and used pop dots to give it a little dimension. Some stitching for texture, buttons for wheels, pop it all up on a scalloped circle and done! A cute baby card.

Lifestyle Crafts Box Dies | How To’sday

I’m here today to show you just how easy and fun the Lifestyle Crafts Box Dies really are! I have two examples to show you that can be used for any theme imaginable!

First up – the treat carrier cutting die:

Step 1. Cut out 2 of each of the box shapes.

Step 2. Add extra stong double sided adhesive tape onto the flaps of the base cut out.

Step 3. Attach the base cut out (as shown below) – you need to make 2 of these.

Step 4. Add extra stong double sided adhesive tape to the back of one side of a treat box, and stick together.

Step 5. Use the smaller die cuts in the pack to make the decorative banners and sentiment pieces for your treat carrier.

You are now ready to decorate! I went for a snowman soup theme :

The next box file I was given to play with was the popcorn box:

Step 1. Cut out box using die.

Step 2. Add extra strong double sided adhesive to the flap on the right hand side:

Step 3. Fold in the bottom flaps as shown below:

Time to have fun and decorate! These boxes are so quick and easy to make – you could use them as party favors, baby shower gifts, teacher presents….the list is endless! Here are a few more of my examples:

I hope I have inspired you to hit that ‘steal’ button! These box dies really are super simple and fun to use, with endless possibilities.

Fancy Pants Notebook Journals

Fancy Pants Notebook Journals

If you haven’t ever seen today’s steal, the Fancy Pants Notebook Journals, then you are in for a treat! These little goodies are great for so many different uses.

First of all they are fantastic for using as journaling blocks on your scrapbook pages. Simply rip the perfect journaling tag out of the notebook, jot down your journaling, attach to your layout and voila — your journaling is done! You can see some fantastic examples from some of our ScrapbookSteals fans as to how they used the journaling tags on these layouts by Staci Jones, Charissa Miller, Chloe Salerno and Cristine Redmond.

Now if you’re wondering what you’d do with multiple journaling tag books here are some additional and easy ideas for you. I decided to make myself a “happy stuff” book. I left all of the journaling tags intact and simply made each tag into a different happy page.

Now I can put my happy stuff on a shelf in my scrappy room and always have a visual reminder of the simple things in life that bring me joy, when life seems to get me down.

I also thought it would be fun to create an advice album for a friend that recently found out that she is expecting her first baby. We have common friends all round the continent so I’m going to mail send out the advice album circle journal style and by the time my friend is holding her sweet bundle of joy, she should have a lovely advice album filled with tips from those that she loves.  :)

I hope you girls all have a wonderfully crafty weekend! Be sure to check in on Monday for our next Monday Card Madness.

Fantastic Friday | Baby Shower Giveaway with My Mind’s Eye

Fantastic Friday | Baby Shower Giveaway with My Mind’s Eye

I love Fridays because I get to think outside of the scrapbooking zone and inside of the project zone. This week I created a baby shower kit using the Lost and Found Collections by My Mind’s Eye and one lucky winner will get it for her very own! I decided to go with Portobello Road and create a baby shower kit for a baby boy.

I love the vintage feel of the Lost and Found collections. I adore the softness of it all and couldn’t wait to get started.

I first made a list of the items that I wanted to create for a basic baby shower kit. Then I put my Silhouette to use for a good share of these projects to make things come together quickly.

The first and foremost important aspect of a baby shower is the invite. Without the invite there wouldn’t be a party!

Next comes decorations. I’ve never made a banner decoration before but thought how fun it would be not only for decoration for the baby shower but for the new mommy to hang in baby’s room as decoration.

Another fun decoration idea is confetti. I made the most of my scraps and saved the stars from the banners to use as confetti.

I thought a fun and simple activity for the shower would be an advice album for the new mom, where guests can jot down their most useful hints on conquering the grand step into motherhood.

Now who doesn’t love a cupcake? I made some coordinating cupcake wrappers to fancy up the treats.

Of course a perfect shower wouldn’t be complete without little favor boxes for the guests. I made these fun cone shaped boxes which kept with the feel of the pennants. These simple boxes could be filled with blue and white jelly beans.

Don’t you agree that the My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found collections are perfect for this purpose?

You could be the happy owner of this baby shower kit, complete with:

  • ? 12 baby shower invites
  • ? 1 banner
  • ? confetti
  • ? 1 mom-to-be advice album
  • ? 12 cupcake wrappers
  • ? 12 baby shower favor boxes

Adesso – Now

Adesso – Now

Italian.  What a magical language.  One that my husband is fluent in, yet can I get him to speak it for me?  Nope!  So what does Adesso mean?  It means – Now.  I’m sooooooooooo excited to share with you what I created to remember the NOW with the amazing Adesso albums which are today’s steal.

The original idea of these albums are to present at weddings or receptions for guests to sign.  Back in *my* day the guests would sign a pretty lame book with nothing more than a line to sign a name.  Then times progressed to the fun photo frames where guests could sign the matt board.  While I do like that idea I figure the odds of a wedding photo being hung in a home *forever* is pretty slim.  That’s why I *love* the idea of the Adesso albums.  There is room for LOTS of photos and the guests have plenty of room to leave a thought.  Plus the book is beautifully bound and simple to keep on a coffee table or book shelf to look at, at any point!

When Melodee first showed me the albums my mind was swirling with ideas.  Aside from the obvious, weddings, showers, etc., here are a few that I thought of.

* A one year overview.  Begin in January, use 1 page spread to remember each month of the year.  There are also several extra pages where you could highlight birthdays or special events.   Begin in January and by December you have an amazing Christmas gift already done for the grandparents!  :)

* School Overview (One or Two page spreads for each year of education)

* Recipe book.  Take a photo of your favorite dishes, add a recipe card!  Simple.  Perfect gift as well for a new bride!

* Are you the room mom of your childs class?  Make a teacher gift including a photo of each child in the class and let the kids draw a picture or write a letter to add to the blank space on the page.

* Create a pre-made ‘first year’ album to give a new mommy at a baby shower.  One side of the page can be have a pre-printed spot for stats, and the other side of the page can have a journaling block for the mom to quickly record highlights of the month.

While these are all fun ideas, what I really wanted to do was to create a gift….from you, our wonderful Scrapbook Steals fans and more importantly friends, for three amazing people who are the heart and soul of ScrapbookSteals.  Without these 3 key people, you would not have all of the goodness brought to you each day that you do.

So without further delay, ….Melodee, Aleta, Scott…..if you ever questioned before how much you are loved by our friends, question no longer.

And it sort of goes without saying that I love you all too!  (That goes for the 3 amigos as well as all of you wonderful women!)

A huge thank you to each of you that replied to my plea for help on Facebook.  You will definitely touch lives today.

In no particular order……

PS – I know my husband always gets after me for apologizing, but PLEASE forgive me if I messed anything up, missed anyone that wanted to participate *and* for the crummy photos!  2AM isn’t really conducive to photography.   Maybe I should tell him that he can get after me in Italian and then maybe I will start listening.   Hee hee!

PPS – Pepper, I just realized I added the incorrect journaling block on your page!  It’s missing the first line.  I’ll fix it.  :)

PPPS – If there is anyone that didn’t have a chance to participate I’d LOVE to add you to another book.  I can’t believe this one is all full up!  :)  Just let me know if you want to play.  :)
