Authentique Paper Pride | Mid Week Mojo Daisy #5

Daisy – Week 5 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

I had a great time looking through pictures to use with Authentique Paper’s Pride Collection for today’s Mid Week Mojo I found some old pictures of my youngest having a blast after a 4th of July parade getting to see a fire truck up close for the first time. The memories of him holding that fire hose and getting to sit in the fire truck rushed back and the colors and patterns from this collection matched the sentiment perfectly.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

There are so many rich colors and beautiful patterns in this collection I couldn’t choose and had to use bits of almost all of the papers. Even though this is a 4th of July themed collection, it can be used for so many projects. I always love the stickers that Authentique creates with the mat finish, easy to use and easy to ink the edges.

The vintage post cards on the cut apart papers add a little bit of nostalgia to this layout.

With a little added twine and a few gems, I really love how this project turned out.

A big congrats to Heather Conklin, you are last week’s winner!

Earth Day | How To-sday Make a Toilet Paper Roll Album

Today we have a treat to help celebrate Earth Day. Emily from Authentique Paper has created a how-to on using toilet paper rolls and creating a beautiful mini album.

• • • • •

We are all looking for a new way to create a mini album, now you will know how to make your own album out of recycled toilet paper rolls. A few people have even asked  “where’s the toilet paper rolls?” That’s why these make such great gifts… no one will ever know what they are made of and when they find out, they will be surprised

Here’s the little album created with  Authentique’s “Glowing” line.

Here’s a little step by step on how you can make one for yourself (start saving those tp rolls now, these can be addicting to make.)

First, gather up some supplies. I find that for these, 6×6 is the best to use since the patterns are smaller. You will need at least 4 empty toilet paper rolls, acrylic paint (if you want to paint yours), paint brushes or sponges, embellishments, ribbons, binding rings, and some coordinating cardstock.

Now take your toilet paper rolls and make them flat. You can use your hands, but I find it easier to use a bone folder to crease the edges. Once you’ve done that, you can paint your rolls.

Cut at least 12 pieces of patterned paper, mine are 3.75 x 2 inches, but you might want to measure your rolls first, sometimes they are different in size. For the mats I cut them at 4 x 2.25 inches. After they were cut, I inked the edges of my patterned paper.

Glue your patterned paper to your cardstock mats.

This step is optional, but I like to stitch the ends of my toilet paper rolls once they are dry, just so the little inserts have a little stopper when you stick them in the sides.

Punch 2 holes and add 2 little binding rings.

Add ribbons to your binding rings and then glue down your mats to the album base. Also, use the 4 extras to stick into the little side pockets for hidden photos our journaling.

Now for the fun part… time to embellish!!! If you have any of the matching Authentique Excerpts or Notables, these are great to add throughout the album!

And that’s it! Simple, right?

Here are some other samples of toilet paper roll albums that I’ve made with other Authentique papers. The possibilities are endless with these.

Authentique Paper Smitten | Monday Craft Madness #6

Love is in the air, at least it feels like it. Every February our thoughts turn to those we love. I wanted to make a present for my love, Theo. I made a sort of decor present last week, but I wanted to give him a little more. Today for Monday Craft Madness I used Authentique Paper Smitten to make a set of coupons. Since the collection is so filled with pink, today’s theme is:

Pink

Create something using pink. It can be a whole card or layout out of pink products, or it can just have a splash of Cupid’s favorite color. Here’s what I created:

The paper in this collection is so thick and luxurious I was able to pull out my handy dandy We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board and create a box to hold all of the coupons.

Creating these tags was so easy: just cut the thick, textured paper into rectangles and then trim off the corners. Using the coupon paper made creating some of these coupons a breeze. The other ones are just love notes and ‘might’ have coupons on the back.

Some pop dots, ribbon and a little ink is all you need if you use this collection to create a set of coupons for someone you love.
