Authentique Accomplished | Monday Craft Madness #1

It’s a new year and we as a family are looking forward to some exciting things. My oldest will no longer be a teen, my youngest will turn 16 and my middle is graduating high school. Needless to say high school has been a challenge for my Lizzie and we are so excited and proud of her every day accomplishments.  Accomplished by Authentique Paper  is a great collection that helps celebrate not only your big accomplishments, but your every day accomplishments. So today for Monday Craft Madness I decided to create a little book about all the things I have seen Lizzie accomplish over the past four years, hopefully it will help her see just how proud of her we are….. So today’s theme is:

Mini Journal Album

Create either a mini album or a mini journal album for someone you love. Here’s what I created:

I started with her 9th grade year, which is still in Junior High for us. She got to ‘graduate’ from 9th grade and loved it.

I left spots for photos as all of her favorite pics of her and her friends are on her phone, hopefully we can get some printed.

We had a rough time Lizzie’s sophomore year and she came through it all and we are so proud of her.

I love the idea of giving her notes for each year of her high school career, hopefully she will look back on this and love it as much as we love her.

I need to add one more year to this album as she finishes her high school career in a few months I can imagine myself crying as I write that one.

Authentique Paper | Monday Craft Madness #46

It’s easy to get caught up in the crazy of today’s world. Work, kids, spouses, friends and family obligations keep us running from task to task just hoping to get through the day. When I was looking through today’s  Authentique Paper’s Faith, Hope & Gratitude Kit  I took the sentiments to heart and thought of being grateful for things in my crazy life. So for today’s Monday Craft Madness I created some cards to share the sentiments … today’s theme is:

Cards

Create your own cards and give to someone you are grateful for. Here’s what I created: The beautiful designs and textures of these papers make card-making fun and easy. I love the tone on tone look of the Faith collection and the deep, rich colors of the Grateful collection. Even though they are perfect for Autumn projects, the sentiments of both collections are great year-round. Check a closer look. With a little ribbon and a little tulle, these grateful sentiments pop. With these two cards I added some embellishments I had in my stash.  The beautiful neutral tones of these papers make mixing and matching embellishments easy.

Authentique Paper Pride | Mid Week Mojo Daisy #5

Daisy – Week 5 of 10
New to Mid Week Mojo?  Get started here

I had a great time looking through pictures to use with Authentique Paper’s Pride Collection for today’s Mid Week Mojo I found some old pictures of my youngest having a blast after a 4th of July parade getting to see a fire truck up close for the first time. The memories of him holding that fire hose and getting to sit in the fire truck rushed back and the colors and patterns from this collection matched the sentiment perfectly.

Here is the layout:

Here is the sketch:

There are so many rich colors and beautiful patterns in this collection I couldn’t choose and had to use bits of almost all of the papers. Even though this is a 4th of July themed collection, it can be used for so many projects. I always love the stickers that Authentique creates with the mat finish, easy to use and easy to ink the edges.

The vintage post cards on the cut apart papers add a little bit of nostalgia to this layout.

With a little added twine and a few gems, I really love how this project turned out.

A big congrats to Heather Conklin, you are last week’s winner!

Earth Day | How To-sday Make a Toilet Paper Roll Album

Today we have a treat to help celebrate Earth Day. Emily from Authentique Paper has created a how-to on using toilet paper rolls and creating a beautiful mini album.

• • • • •

We are all looking for a new way to create a mini album, now you will know how to make your own album out of recycled toilet paper rolls. A few people have even asked  “where’s the toilet paper rolls?” That’s why these make such great gifts… no one will ever know what they are made of and when they find out, they will be surprised

Here’s the little album created with  Authentique’s “Glowing” line.

Here’s a little step by step on how you can make one for yourself (start saving those tp rolls now, these can be addicting to make.)

First, gather up some supplies. I find that for these, 6×6 is the best to use since the patterns are smaller. You will need at least 4 empty toilet paper rolls, acrylic paint (if you want to paint yours), paint brushes or sponges, embellishments, ribbons, binding rings, and some coordinating cardstock.

Now take your toilet paper rolls and make them flat. You can use your hands, but I find it easier to use a bone folder to crease the edges. Once you’ve done that, you can paint your rolls.

Cut at least 12 pieces of patterned paper, mine are 3.75 x 2 inches, but you might want to measure your rolls first, sometimes they are different in size. For the mats I cut them at 4 x 2.25 inches. After they were cut, I inked the edges of my patterned paper.

Glue your patterned paper to your cardstock mats.

This step is optional, but I like to stitch the ends of my toilet paper rolls once they are dry, just so the little inserts have a little stopper when you stick them in the sides.

Punch 2 holes and add 2 little binding rings.

Add ribbons to your binding rings and then glue down your mats to the album base. Also, use the 4 extras to stick into the little side pockets for hidden photos our journaling.

Now for the fun part… time to embellish!!! If you have any of the matching Authentique Excerpts or Notables, these are great to add throughout the album!

And that’s it! Simple, right?

Here are some other samples of toilet paper roll albums that I’ve made with other Authentique papers. The possibilities are endless with these.
