We R Memory Keepers 6×6 Printed Albums | Monday Craft Madness #22

We R Memory Keepers’ 6×6 Albums are of the highest quality.  It was an easy choice when I was deciding what to do for my mom for Mother’s Day.  Moms and grandmas love pictures of their kids and grand kids. I wanted to put a little album together with all of the great-grand kids and a 6×6 album from We R Memory Keepers is the perfect size for this project! Now for our Monday Craft Madness theme:

Gift Giving!

Create something you will give to someone else, create a layout or mini album about a gift you received, make a card you will send to someone special, anything you can think of!

For my gift for my mom, I chose the Retrospect 6×6 album because of the gender-neutral color scheme and pattern.

I decided to add to the cover to make it more personal.  Don’t be afraid to personalize your albums with papers and embellishments.

6×6 pages are quick and easy to make.  With our standard photo size being 4×6, a little trimming, matting and a few embellishments are all you will need to complete your inner pages.

These are three of the great-grand kids…aren’t they cute?

How To-sday | Create Your Own Pendant

Today’s How To-sday post comes from the fabulous Venetia Holbrook.  She teaches us how to create a one of a kind pendant, perfect for yourself or for someone special.

 • • • • •

Hi everyone!  I am excited to share a fun tutorial for some great gifts you can make with your scrapbook paper.

Image wearing pendant

Like my necklace?  I do, and I made it.  This is one of those crafts that makes a great final product and is easy to do!  Those are my favorite kind  because they seem fancier than they really are.  Pendants of this style are becoming poplar and some of them are quite spendy.

Since Mother’s Day is approaching quickly, I knew having a stash of  pendants would be a good idea.  I hope you like this tutorial and try it for yourself!

Supplies Needed:

  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic Glaze
  • Glass
  • Pendant Trays
  • Super Adhesive
  • Brush or Cotton Swab

For mine, I used a 6×6 pad of from Crate Paper, Random collection.  I also used 1-inch square glass and trays.

Image 1

First, arrange your tiles on the paper to get the fit that you like best.  I wanted to use the floral images from this patterned paper  so I placed and re-placed the tiles until I liked how the images looked.

Next, place 5 drops of acrylic glaze on the glass.  You need very little of the glaze.  Place your tile on the paper and press firmly to remove any air from between the glass and the paper.

Here you can see the cherry blossom has air pockets and the rose does not.  Press until your tray has adhesive slightly oozing around the edges.

Clean the oozing glaze with a brush or cotton swab.  tip: if using a brush, clean it immediately unless you want to throw it away.

tip:  glue multiple pieces of glass at a time to save time.  I placed several pieces on one sheet and some off kilter because of the design.  It may look haphazard, but you will be getting rid of the excess paper.

Now walk away.  Go do something else.  Make a cup of tea, check the Steals page, send me an email about how awesome this tutorial is, but go away.  Fight the urge to touch or you will have a hot mess.  You will be hearing me in our head, “She said have tea! Why did I rush?

When the glaze is dry, cut the paper off the glass as close as possible to the edge.  tip:  it will take at least two trims to get the edge nice and tight.

Use your heavy duty adhesive to glue the glass to the tray.  I use a glue dot made for jewelry.

That’s it!  I hope you  liked this how to.  Happiness and cute jewelry to you all!  ~Venetia

Lifestyle Crafts Shape ‘N Tape | Monday Craft Madness #20

If you’re a washi tape fan, then you are going to love Shape N’ Tape from Lifestyle Crafts. You can create any shape you want with these  sheets. Imagine the possibilities!  Perfect for adding a little extra to everyday items, Shape N’ Tape can alter items with ease.

Today our Monday Craft Madness comes from Barbara Staradumsky and our theme is:

Alter It!

Find something you can alter, like a notebook, a frame, or clothe pins. The possibilities are endless! See how Barbara uses Shape N’ Tape to alter every day items.

I am a lover of washi tape. So when I received the Shape N’Tape by Lifestyle Crafts in the mail I was so in love!
With washi tape you are limited to what you can do because of the size. Not so with the Shape N’Tape! And as I discovered in playing with it, it has an additional benefit. You can cover things quickly and easily without the mess of glue and worrying about air bubbles.
For my first creation, I used the Gray Set of Shape N’Tape
Scrapbooking Craft Shape n Tape 01
I took a notepad I purchased at a local craft store that was laying around.  And using Shape ‘N Tape I made a altered notepad that is just so cute and was so simple!
The notepad looked like this before I altered it:
Scrapbooking Craft Shape n Tape 02
I simply cut some of the tape and covered it with the solid gray and the dotted gray design. I then attached a die cut and added a mini paper clip with a tiny scrap of the dotted gray tape attached to it. This was simple, fast, and I had no issues with messy glues!
Scrapbooking Craft Shape n Tape 03
You could cover a box, a tin, a journal cover! Anything and everything and no glues or messes!

This would be a perfect gift for anyone, but I love it so much I am keeping it for myself!
After I created the note pad I decided to play around and make a card. I always love to have cards on hand to send to friends and family.
Scrapbooking Craft Shape n Tape 04
I am so love in love with Shape N’ Tapes Teal Package. I love the color teal, and the designs in this set are just gorgeous!
So I thought why not cut some chevrons and make a card with them. Simple and cute! What I really love about this card is I didn’t have to use any adhesive. I taped down some chevrons cut from the Teal Shape N’ Tape and added a stamp. Super fast, super easy and super cute!
How gorgeous is that? Love love love it!
And here is an additional tip..no matter how small your scraps are when creating something with Shape ‘N Tape, don’t throw them out!
Scrapbooking Craft Shape n Tape 05
I took a few scraps left from the card and applied them to some mini clothes pins I had.
How cute these will look on an office or craft room bulletin board or even a card or scrapbook page? And for the smaller scraps you could attach them to paper clips as I did in the first project. So hang on to the scraps and find super cute ways to use them.

Fancy Pants Designs Time for Spring Collection | Monday Craft Madness #19

The Fancy Pants Designs Time for Spring Collection is such a super cute collection, I loved creating this week’s projects. The collection is girly with lots of fun flowers and teapots in pinks, browns, blues and creams. There are adorable die cut words, flowers and frames, and coordinating alphabet stickers that finish off this collection perfectly. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme…

Tea for Two!

Use the tea party/picnic theme, or use the number two as part of your title/sentiment  on your projects!

DIY handmade tea party crafts

The first thing you need for the tea party is an invitation! I decided to cut out a teapot shape on my Silhouette and use this for the front of the card.

The papers are just perfect for  cute little teapot, and I love the word and flower die cuts for a little added decoration.

I then decided to make a cute little ‘teabag’ gift bag.

Again, I used my silhouette with the matching papers and embellishments. This is definitely MY cup of happy!

And lastly, you can’t go to a tea party without cakes! I decided to cover this plain white cupcake box with the same papers.

I first used a brown ink pad to ink around all of the edges of the box, so that there were no white edges showing after I had covered the box with papers. I then just measured each side, inked the edges of the papers and stuck them on!

The die cuts were then added to the front for decoration and to tie all the pieces together.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘tea for two’ projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities!

My Mind’s Eye Decorative Tape 8-pack | Monday Craft Madness #18

The My Mind’s Eye Decorative Tape 8-pack got to be one of my current favorite ‘go-to’ embellishments! I have developed a washi obsession – it seems to be appearing on almost all of my latest projects! I just LOVE the different colors and patterns that can be found on the My Mind’s Eye tapes, and had so much fun creating a variety of projects this week. This week’s Monday Craft Madness theme…

A World of Washi!

Use washi tape  on your projects!

I decided to make a fun collection of crafts this week – just in time to give you that crafty inspiration for all of your Easter projects. I first decided to make some Easter Wall Art, then a washi card and an Easter wreath!

DIY handmade Easter crafts using washi tape

I love seeing the different wall art themes that you can buy in the shops these days. So simple, yet so effective. I decided that I would do an Easter themed wall art using a cutting file from Silhouette with the different colored washi tapes underneath.

DIY handmade Easter crafts using washi tape

I painted an old picture frame and added washi strips and flowers to the frame for extra interest.

The Easter card was so quick and simple to make too!

The washi was used as a background embellishment and around the edge of the card to add a little more color. The image was from Bugaboo which I colored using prismacolor pencils.

When Brittany suggested making an Easter wreath, it seemed like a great idea! Then I thought ‘Oh! How do I do this with washi?’ This wreath was actually super simple to make! I bought a polystyrene wreath, which I painted white, and then began wrapping strips of the washi around it. I loved the effect!

I then tried wrapping the washi directly onto the plastic eggs, but it just kept creasing and didn’t look good! I ended up folding the washi in half lengthways and then sticking this around the eggs.

I hope I have inspired you to start work on your ‘washi’ projects this week. Remember, they can be any project you like – there are so many possibilities!
