Don’t look now, but the end of summer is near. For some of us, school is about to start and the guilt to help in class starts. I am lucky that my kids’ classes do not need many volunteers, but I remember the days I felt I had to help with the class parties. Well, today I am helping you plan ahead. I would always volunteer for the Halloween party. Seeing the cute kids all dressed up would make me smile, and eating all of the candy never hurt. ;) Today for Monday Craft Madness I used October Afternoon’s Witch Hazel Collection to create some party decor for my fake Halloween party. So today’s theme is:

Decor

Create something that you can put out for show. You can make a wall hanging, a wreath, whatever strikes your fancy!  Here are the decor items I created:

I started by making a few coasters. Using light-weight wood rectangles from my local craft store, I decoupaged the post cards included with the embellishment kit. Super easy and now ready to use.

I then created some jars that can be used for table decor as well as smuggling treats. I found some mason jars and added a few embellishments. This project took only about a half an hour, now all I need to do is find candy to fill them all up!

The last project I made was this little tree. I am not very handy with a spray paint can, so I was thrilled to find these branches at the local craft store already painted black. I hung the little pieces of chipboard included in the embellishment kit.

The base box is just a tissue box cover flipped upside down. I added some paper from the 8×8 paper pad and some stickers (with pop dots of course). I think I will use the same base for multiple holidays just by adding paper to the other sides.

I wanted a few more ornaments so I created little blocks of embellishments to add some variety.

I still have plenty of paper and embellishments left to create more projects. Maybe I kind of miss being forced to volunteer for class parties…
