While looking at Simply Spring from We R Memory Keepers, many thoughts came to mind; beautiful pastel color scheme, sparkly embellihsments, and fun designs. I just had to use as many colors and patterns I possibly could. Our Monday Craft Madness Theme is a repeat, but a good one, and for a good reason.

Cards

Over the next few months we will be collecting cards from our fans and sending them to the troops through Operation Write Home. We would love for you all to join in the fun.  At least once a month through September our Monday Craft Madness theme will be Cards so you can find inspiration. See below for more details.

On to the Simply Spring Cards…

We R Memory Keepers Simply Spring

I love that this kit included solid papers as well as patterns. Solids make cardmaking for me so much easier.  I created all of these cards in about an hour and a half.

To create a bunch of cards quickly, here is how I do it:

  1. Create all of the bases-I trimmed the solid papers in a variety of sizes
  2. Choose the embellishments I want to use
  3. Trim several patterns into sizes that would fit on your cards
  4. Mix and match the patterns (a little more trimming may be necessary)

Now for the details of participating with us in helping Operation Write Home. You can start sending cards to us at any time, to arrive no later than September 15.

Please read through and follow all of the Operation Write Home guidelines. All cards must be 4.25″ x 5.5″ – half a sheet of cardstock – with  an included envelope and NO glitter. Please do not write your own messages in the card as these will be used by service men and women to write home to their loved ones.  They are very grateful for these cards and they mean a lot, so let’s use our best materials and really show them how much we appreciate their service! (Read the rest of the guidelines here.)

Mail the cards to us so they arrive no later than September 15, and we will organize and send them to our troops. Now not only have you done some therapeutic and fun crafting, you’ve given a service member and their family a treasured gift!

(We learned about the no-glitter rule after these cards were made, so we’re reserving these for our friends at home. The no-glitter rule is for the safety of the soldiers as glitter is visible to night vision goggles. As we learned first hand, reading the guidelines is very important!)
