Authentique Fresh | Monday Card Madness #105

I think anyone who follows names in the paper crafting world will agree that Authentique is a continual parade of fresh ideas, colors and designs. Today’s steal, the Fresh collection by Authentique is just that—Fresh! (Appropriately named, Authentique! Well done!) The refreshing blend of blues, grays, reds and vintage designs are the perfect combo for today’s Monday Card Madness creations.

I absolutely adore the mini prints that come in the 6×6 pads—especially when it comes to making cards. I kept to a pretty simple theme with the cards in order to show off the gorgeous designs. I used my Cameo to cut out a simple scallop border and backed the windows with a different print of paper for a little variety.

I also cut out a multiple layered flower in different patterns, alternating the colors so that the flowers really show dimension and show off the collection.

For a little variety on the 4th card I made I turned to my stash for some coordinating flowers and layered them.  Instead of a die cut border I layered two papers, ripping the bottom edge of the lower paper. I also added ribbon to the tab on this card rather than twine.

For my final card I had to use the sheet of paper that has the vintage ladies and postcards. I replaced my scalloped border with washi and voila! A card that I’m really quite fond of! :)

As always, creating with the rich textures and colors of Authentique is fab, fun and Fresh.

Graphic 45 The Magic of Oz Collection

For all of you Graphic 45 lovers, you are in for an absolute treat today. Fall Design Team member Liz Qualman totally rocks her first project for using today’s steal, the Graphic 45—The Magic of Oz collection. The eclectic mix of Wizard of Oz inspired papers are the perfect crossover for fans of Wicked and Halloween alike!

It’s almost time for witches, ghouls and goblins to take to the street and harass your neighbors for candy, which means it is time for you to get ready to document those precious Halloween moments.   The Magic of Oz collection from Graphic 45 was really fun to work with because of its unique Wizard of Oz graphics – not exactly your typical Halloween collection.   However, I really love how my Wicked Witch of the West layout turned out because so many of the elements in the collection are perfect for Halloween pages.  The bold titles around the border of the purple Wicked! patterned paper made a great background for my page and I chose to cut a piece of the green Parcel Post patterned paper to add to the middle for contrast to both the photo and the border.

The chipboard pieces in this collection are a fantastic quality with vibrant colors and really make excellent embellishments for a project.  These wicked chipboard buttons were a fun accent and only needed a bit of foam tape and some baker’s twine to finish them off and make them pop.  I used my circle cutter to add a little orange border from the Munchkins patterned paper.

I also love the sentiments on these chipboard tickets because even though there are no scarecrows, lions or tin men in the photo, these little trick or treaters have plenty of brains, heart and courage and will use them to make it through this night of mischief.

It’s fun to use Halloween collections for more everyday photos and pages.  I used some of the less graphic backsides of the patterned papers to make an Autumn page about love.  Layering many of the colors together adds a nice variety and makes the papers seem less like Halloween and more like a fall palette.

It’s kind of funny that these beautiful flowers were included in what seems more like a Halloween collection, but they got me thinking about using the papers and palettes to make a Fall layout, so of course I was glad to have them.  I used a leaf punch to cut the green leaves from the Emerald City paper that I also used to create the green sentiment strip that runs across the photo.

The chipboard tags are beautiful and easy to write on with a gel pen.  I merely added some twine for texture and used a bit of foam tape to make the tag stand out a bit more from the paper.  I also used my Martha Stewart Cherish Punch to make the border on the Scatterbrained Scarecrow patterned paper and then added a bit of black velvet floss to stitch through the holes created by the punch.

I think the unique graphics in The Magic of Oz collection are a fun challenge to create projects for Halloween or for Autumn.  I really enjoyed the push to think outside the box and make some novel pages about my family.

Bella Blvd. Finally Fall | Mid Week Mojo

Coral – Layout 3

It seems we just can’t get enough of fall! Today’s steal, the Bella Blvd. Finally Fall collection, has the perfect blend of warm and cool tones to fit every fall paper crafting need! Today guest sketcher Lori Allen, who wows my world week after week, shows us just how fun the Finally Fall collection can be!

Kristy Lee asking me to guest sketch was the biggest boost of confidence I’ve ever had regarding my scrapbooking. I just putter along with Mid Week Mojo when I can amid a busy schedule of full time nurse, wife, and mom to two young boys and a dog. I don’t think I’m that creative, but I’m getting better from the 70 MWM’s I have participated in and everyone’s ideas.

That being said, how can your projects not be great when using a kit like Bella Blvd’s Finally Fall? I did a little dance when I learned I was working with this line. Finally Fall is full of fresh autumn colors with lots of teal, pink, dark blue, and cranberry, so it can be used for any theme. I love the trees, outlines of leaves, owls, wood grain, houses, and two pages of fun stickers!

Finally Fall is so full of crisp and clean goodness I just kept doing layout after layout. I’ll just leave you with two sketches and look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Welcome Fall Design Team!

I am so very excited and pleased to announce the lovely ladies that will be our Fall Design Team. There were a ton of applicants and the decision was most definitely not an easy one, but I think you’ll all agree we are in for a fantastic visual treat over the next three months as we receive inspiration from the amazing Julie Koets, Amy Coose and Liz Qualman.

Please join me now for a little meet and greet with these creative, crafty geniuses.

First off let’s meet Julie Koets. For those of you that are a part of our Facebook community, Julie is no stranger to you. Julie has been a part of our family for a very long time and it’s a true delight that she will be representing ScrapbookSteals in an official Design Team position. Julie comes to us from the beautiful midwest from the town of Elkhart, Indiana.

I’m Julie Koets, a long time fan of Scrapbook Steals and thrilled beyond belief to be part of this amazing Design Team.  I am blessed with an amazing husband and two wonderful boys who all support my crafty obsession.  In addition to scrapbooking, I also love baking, entertaining friends and family, camping, and exploring the great outdoors!

I asked each of the ladies a few questions to help break the ice so we could get to know each of them just a little bit more.

1.  Who is your favorite manufacturer?

I have a hard time narrowing down a favorite, but lately my go to manufacturer is Simple Stories.  I love so many of their collections and adore how quickly a layout comes together when I use their products.  I’m often pressed for time, so I don’t have hours to spend crafting and Simple Stories really does make scrapbooking simple.

2.  Why do you scrapbook?

I scrapbook for many reasons, but the main reason is to preserve all of the great memories.  Boxes full of old pictures don’t tell much of a story, so my scrapbook pages will hopefully serve as great reminders and help “tell the story” of my life.  I make books for each of my boys that will someday be given to them and I also keep a family album for myself.

3.  What is your go to treat for scrapping?

My preferred treat for scrapbooking is Twizzlers!

I’m so excited for the fall DT term to start and can’t wait to see what products I get to work with!

For those of you that joined us during the September blog hop, you may remember Amy Coose and her amazing projects with the Martha Stewart Craft Glitters. I’ve only just begun to get to know Amy but she has one of those fun bubbly personalities and is one of those girls that seems like a long lost friend. And the cutest baby boy ever! She joins us form the busy and buzzing  metropolis of Washington D.C.

My name is Amy Coose and I am thrilled to be joining the ScrapbookSteals Fall Design Team!  I am a transplanted Texan living outside of Washington DC with my hubby of 16 years and our three kiddos.  Austin, my hockey player, is 13, Georgia, my drama queen, is 11, and my baby boy, Davis, just turned one.  Davis was our HUGE surprise baby. Although I was not ready to be a mom again and start all over, I am so thankful that I was given this gift and can’t imagine it any differently.
I have been scrapbooking since my oldest was about one. It’s my creative outlet, and I just love that I’ve preserved some special moments and memories that we would have forgotten if it wasn’t for scrapbooking.

1.  Who is your favorite manufacturer?

My favorite manufacturer would have to be My Mind’s Eye. I just love the quality and amazing range of products they offer.

2.  Why do you scrapbook?

I scrapbook because I have a horrible memory. I would forget all of the little things that make up our lives and I feel like those little things are what make us “us.”

3.  What is your go to treat for scrapping?

My go-to treat is a nice warm cup o’ coffee. I can’t scrap without it. No matter what time of day I’m scrapping there is always a cup of coffee close by.

I am looking forward to a fun term with the ScrapbookSteals design team!

Lastly we are very excited to have the ever so talented Liz Qualman as a part of our Fall Design Team. Liz has fabulous style which is sure to please the masses. Liz joins us from the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Edwards, CO.

I guess you could say I have been paper crafting since kindergarten and have never stopped. Living in the beautiful Rocky Mountains with my family provides a lot of inspiration and keeps me busy.  Some of my industry experience includes working as the design team coordinator at Little Yellow Bicycle and on the design team at Simple Stories.  I am also a regular series writer for Scrapbooking and Beyond and Paper Creations Magazines and have been known to share a sketch or two. I am delighted to join the ScrapbookSteals Fall Design Team and look forward to some fun projects with great products.

Who is your favorite manufacturer ?

This is a tough question, but I do have to say that I love companies who maufacture full lines of embellishments.   This is one of the reasons I am so happy to regularly work with Little Yellow Bicycle – their embellishments are top notch.  However, I recently received the entire Lucille collection from Basic Grey for an upcoming publication and it is one of the very best collections I have seen and I am totally smitten…  You can see why it is too hard to pick a favorite manufacturer and I have to admit that since I am a sucker for embellishments (especially those with adhesive already added), my heart is easily won over.

Why do you scrapbook?

I like the creative outlet.  I live in the mountains and most people play outside, which I do too, but I like to hide away at my craft table and experiment with color, texture and design.

What is your go to music for scrapping?

My Pandora has a Katy Perry station.  It’s fun to rock out to her music along with other artists that have similar appeal.  I would not say that my scrapbooking “moves like Jagger,” but it is fun to listen to the upbeat, happy tunes to keep my projects fresh and fun.

I’m SO excited to have the pleasure to work with you ladies. I cannot wait to see what amazing creations you come up with.
Be sure to check in on Friday as Liz kicks things off with the fall term.
Have a great day and be sure to stop by tomorrow for our Guest Sketcher Mid Week Mojo. In short – amazing!
