Authentique Enchanted and Glowing Mega Kit | Mid Week Mojo

Coral – Layout 7

Happy Halloween! Steal Boutique’s Karina Wetzel created some delightfully spooky crafts with today’s steal, the Authentique Enchanted and Glowing Mega Kit. Karina already wowed us with her great MCM creation this week, and today is no different! This collection is the perfect kit to scrap Halloween memories, create creepy crafts and decor for next year, or to whip up invites for future Halloween bonanzas.

When asked to play with the Authentique Enchanted and Glowing Mega Kit, I may or may not have squealed a little! There are so many things about this collection that I love.

Authentique has to be one of my favorite brands to work with! I love the bold and funky designs and wow, the papers are to die for! As I looked at this collection I couldn’t believe how many things there were. Once again, I was very impressed! Then my mind was going 100 mph with all the possibilities, so why stop at just a layout? So, my friends, that is when I decided to make a bunch of Halloween projects!

Here is the Layout that I came up with for MWM:

I made the 3D flowers by cutting circles and then crimping the paper a bit for more of a distressed look. Then I just layered and added a cute brad on top.

And of course I had to make a card:

Then, how fun is this simple treat bag:

And finally this last project came to me in a dream {please tell me that I’m not the only one} and I just had to make it:

Oh my! I could have made many more things. I cant wait to scrapbook my Halloween pictures from this year with this collection!

This week I got to play with one of my favorite collections, Nostalgia by My Mind’s Eye. Every time I hear the name “Nostalgia” it makes me think of a Caribbean beach. This fun and warm collection comes in a perfect time for this cold Utah weather! A girl can dream right?

I adore the colors and whimsical designs that Nostalgia has to offer. It was so much fun coming with this design. Simple with a little bit of a “pop” is what I usually do when card making.

One of my favorite things about this collection (besides the beautiful paper) is how many fun embellishments it has to offer, the super cute brads, layered stickers, and, of course, the chipboard pennants! Two of my favorite techniques for card making are inking and distressing. I used both on this card and I love how it turned out.

That was so much fun! The possibilities really are endless when it comes to this collection. I hope you enjoy!

American Crafts Chromatics Markers

Stamping and alcohol based markers seem to be all the rage right now in the paper crafting world. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try them out then today’s steal, American Crafts Chromatics Markers, are the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet! Not only is this a fun new steal, but we are treated to the talents of Design Team member Julie Koets. It just doesn’t get better than this!

I had so much fun working with the Chromatix markers from American Crafts!  Having never used alcohol markers before, I was thrilled with the chance to try them out for my first design team feature.   I loved that the markers are grouped in complimentary shades to take all of the guess work out of it.  With colors that are so intense and vibrant, these markers make coloring fun again! Armed with a set of “grass” and “sapphire” colored markers and the clear blending pen, I set out to experiment and create.  My first project was this fun card featuring some cute little inked critters.
I also used the markers to color directly on a background stamp.  Because the alcohol inks are quick drying, I worked quickly and spritzed my colored woodgrain stamp with a light mist of water before stamping directly to my paper.  The results give a great watercolor affect and a muted image.
Just in case you’re thinking these markers are only for stamping, check out this layout where I utilized the markers to color my title letters.  I started with plain white die cut letters and used the varying shades of blue markers to make customized letters in varying shades of blue.  I didn’t pay much attention to getting perfect shading, but just colored and blended randomly, resulting in a great “watery” look.
Thanks so much for checking out my projects and be sure to pick up several sets of markers for yourself.  They are great for doodling, coloring, and stamping!

Thanks so much Julie! Your projects were as fantastic as always. I especially love the way you used the blue markers to make the “wet” letters. Perfect for the summer scrapbooking I haven’t quite finished up.

Thanks for stopping by and we’ll see you next week!

Fancy Pants Designs WaveSearcher and Summer Soul | Mid Week Mojo

Coral – Layout 6

Fall is full swing: school schedules are set, leaves are changing, and the weather is cool. That means it’s the perfect time to settle in with a cup of cider and scrap those warm summer memories that are still waiting on our desks. ;) STEALS.com’s very own Brittany Allred is our guest sketcher and will show us how today’s steal, Fancy Pants Designs WaveSearcher and Summer Soul, is perfect for bringing some sun back into your scrapping.

Summer might be over, but while working with Summer Soul, I could almost hear the waves and feel the warm breeze on my face.  As soon as I saw this collection, I knew right away I wanted to relive my daughter’s first trip to the California coast. I got so excited I may or may not have accidentally broken my favorite scissors…small price to pay for the Mid Week Mojo.

Summer Soul is full of so many of my favorite things, from rub-ons to chipboard pennants. I am also a huge fan of the warm, subtle colors in this collection, especially the pink and turquoise. Somehow they just seem to go with everything, like my extensive collection of baker’s twine and washi tape that I used as borders and accents for my photos. I really liked the flocked, lined transparency and actually used it as a template for my journaling, then placed it over top.

I’m excited to share a little of my creative side today (as an accountant, I don’t get to do that often). I hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to hang onto summer just a little bit longer.
