Authentique Glory

I love Fridays! Not only does it mean the weekend is upon us but it also means we are treated to the talents of one of our amazing Design Team members. Today Kerys Sharrock absolutely nails to perfection the many ways to use today’s steal, the Authentique Glory collection.

It’s my turn again to post on another awesome collection! The awesome Brittany Perry and Kristy Lee gave me another awesome steal to play with, the Authentique ‘Glory’ collection, with the instructions “non-patriotic!” This was easy as we have only lived in the USA for 2 years and I don’t have lots of “patriotic” photos to scrap.

It just so happened that my daughter has begun gymnastics, and of course you know girls, they just have to have the best leotard! The one she chose matched perfectly with this collection. I used Authentique’s current sketch challenge for the layout, and added the stickers and quotes from the 12×12 detail sheet. As you can see, the quotes and stickers don’t just have to be for the 4th of July celebration—they can be adapted perfectly for any situation.

The next thing I decided to make was an altered birdhouse. I love these things and they have become a bit of an obsession for me! Once I looked through the Glory collection, I decided that the reds and creams gave me a feeling of Christmas, so I went with the Christmas theme. Again, I used the papers and border stickers from the collection—the “holiday cheer” I thought was perfect and comes from the individual word stickers found in the collection. A touch of holly and snow, and voilà!

And last but not least, this is definitely my favorite altered project to date! I decided to alter a drawer set. You know the plain wooden ones you get from the craft store? I painted it, crackle painted it, went over it with some distress ink, and then went to town decorating it with the Authentique papers. There are so many different patterned papers in this collection it was hard to choose. I kept it quite simple, inking the edges of each paper and then finishing it off with the “be creative” title on the top. This is going to be sitting on my desk for inspiration. I even used a couple of the stickers from the collection on the ends of the spools. Cute!

Thank you so much Scrapbook Steals, Brittany, and Kristy for allowing me to be on the Summer Design Team! I’ve had such a blast and will miss it greatly. I hope I’ve managed to inspire a few people along the way!

Kerys, your projects are beyond amazing and I’m telling you straight up right now, if you find your drawers missing you may want to come and check my craft room. 😉 It’s been a joy having you as a part of the team and I tell myself I’m not going to cry when it’s done, but I’ve already shed a tear or two! Good thing is we will be treated to one final hoorah in a triple whammy from the entire design team next Friday! You wont want to miss it at all.

I hope you all have an exceptional weekend! I know I will. Tomorrow is the Color Run for me so be on the lookout for some very colorful photos coming up in a Mid Week Mojo soon!

American Crafts Blog Idea Blowout!

If you’re like me you’ll be absolutely exuberant over today’s steal, the American Crafts Brands Archive Spectacular. American Crafts pretty much equals scrappy love. And since Pebbles, Studio Calico and Crate Paper are all also lumped into that awesome umbrella, I think you’ll find saying no to shopping today is going to be a wee bit difficult. Top it off with ScrapbookSteals’ Super Hero Shippers and, well, resistance is futile!

In an effort to spark those ideas and enable a little more purchasing (your husband said it was okay), I’ve put together easy links to some of my favorite blog posts by all four of the American Crafts companies.

Sit back, enjoy, and do a little blog surfing while you try and decide exactly which products you need. (Want isn’t really an issue, we all know it’s a need.)

Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic | Mid Week Mojo

Coral – Layout 1

Can you believe a new Mid Week Mojo series is already here? It’s a little mind boggling to think it’s time for a fresh start to our weekly inspiring fun. Lucky for me, I have a fun and fresh collection to kick things off. Today’s steal, the Heidi Swap Sugar Chic collection, is a great mix of feminine with a spunky wild side, and a gorgeous muted color palate. It definitely soothes the crafty soul!

When I was sorting through the photos that I had laying on my desk deciding what to scrap, I was thrilled when I realized how perfectly one of my photos from a summertime activity worked with Sugar Chic. I know some of you might be questioning another circle themed layout, but how could I resist when creating a layout about lots and lots of bubbles?

I definitely wanted to have a little more color involved with my background than just the aqua, and I didn’t feel like having a huge overwhelming circle, so I used the inner cut on one of my Lucky 8 punches and then layered different colors of the Sugar Chic papers behind so that the circle had a multi-color effect. I then busted out my iRock and added a gems to the middle circles.

As is very common for me, the embellishments  took a big stance in the design of my layout. I mean, how could I resist using the sparkly banners that come with today’s steal? I couldn’t. In fact, I had to use a lot of them. :)

Then I finished things out by adding a few of the unique embellies that are a part of the Sugar Chic line.

For initially wondering what I would make with today’s steal as I’m not crazy about faux animal prints like my daughter, I sure had a great time creating with it and now will have to be sure to take a photo of my Tess in her crazy clothes and document it! (As well as be sure to balance it out with some of the many other amazing prints in the collection, like the chevron. Swoon!)

Now down to business. First off, let’s congratulate the winner of the Pearl #10 Mid Week Mojo. Congrats are in order for Corinna Colquhoun!

You totally nailed Kerys’ amazing sketch, which is perhaps my favorite of the entire pearl series. Way to go! Now please send an email to with your address and we will be happy to get some sweet swag sent your way.

Now I have to take a quick moment to thank each and every one of you for participating in another amazing 10 weeks of Mid Week Mojo. It’s truly the highlight of my crafty week and I consider myself so genuinely blessed to have this opportunity to bond with each of you every week and to share a little piece of myself. You should also each be so proud of yourselves and your accomplishments! Even if you were only able to complete one layout at least you have one more layout to add to your history.

Now without further ado, I’d like to congratulate the winner of the amazing Authentique prize package valued at nearly $92.00! Erin Colby, you are our lucky random winner! A huge congrats to you and your completion of all ten Pearl Series Mid Week Mojos. This particular layout was one of my favorite of yours over the past 10 weeks.

We R Memory Keepers Cinch

So, you’ve really been regretting not snatching up the We R Memory Keepers Cinch last time we featured it? I’m not surprised! This book binding tool is pretty darn spectacular. If you find yourself lumped into the category of “ohhhhh, I wouldn’t really use that,” I think you might need to explore this machine just a little bit more before you make your decision.

The Cinch is perfect for:

  • mini albums
  • recipe books
  • kids art books
  • homework
  • office presentations
  • flip charts
  • and pretty much anything you want to bind together!

Still not so sure? Check out these fun mini albums that I designed while teaching classes for We R Memory Keepers using the Cinch binding tool.

After teaching hundreds of women how to make these albums, each and every one of them that thought they were okay with other binding machines were converted after using the Cinch once. It’s that good.

If you missed the blog post last time, be sure to check this link out! Amber Sheaves and Kyla Norris have some great project ideas that you don’t want to miss.

Now I have one more itty-bitty matter of business to take care of, and that is announcing the winner of the September Blog Hop! Our lucky random winner comes to us from the blog of Lisa Lahiff. The random winner of the $20.00 gift code to the store is Adrienne Crist! Congrats Adrienne. We hope that you have fun doing a little shopping and that you will be sure to share with us what you create. We’ll be in touch with you regarding your prize.

Have a spectacular day and be sure to check in tomorrow for our first Mid Week Mojo in the Coral series of sketches.

Pink Paislee Indigo Bleu | Monday Card Madness #102

Here’s a little secret for you: for 39 years of my life I thought bleu cheese had to be about the most vile thing on the planet. Over this past year my taste buds have finally awoken to the glorious taste! (Or perhaps I’m just a little more sophisticated in my older age.) 😉

Luckily it didn’t take 39 years to appreciate the beauties of today’s steal, the Pink Paislee Indigo Bleu collection. The relaxing blend of yellows and blues with the twist of a little French flair is perfect for paper crafting.

I let the design of my cards be inspired by the embellishments in today’s collection.

I really love the warm, vintagey feel of the tags in this collection so used a combination of papers, banner stickers, and a tag to design the card.

I repeated the same design for my second card and added a rubon “thank you” sentiment.

Some of the tags in this collection are horizontal in format, so I flipped the sketch and made this card.

Then I put a twist on the tag and used some of the conversation bubbles in the embellishments to replace the tag on the sketch.

I love how the design continues to morph as I create. This is what I came up with for my final card and I think it’s my favorite of the bunch!

The cards that I’ve seen popping up this week on Facebook are darling! I want to give a shout out to Kassandra Missen and the lovely card she created based off of last week’s sketch.

Well done Kassandra! Who knows, you may even find yourself being our lucky monthly winner for this darling creation.
