Silhouette | How To’sday

If you haven’t been lucky enough to add the Silhouette Cameo to your collection, let me sit you down right now and tell you to do everything in your power to make it happen. Whether that be adopting the “ask for forgiveness rather than permission” philosophy, stealing from your grocery budget (kids can live on ramen noodles, right?), or taking a temporary loan from someone’s piggy bank, you will not be sorry to have the magical abilities of today’s steal at your disposal.

I had a lot of fun using my Cameo to create backgrounds for these layouts.

I love the wide format the Cameo offers so I can create the perfect size embellishments for my page.

If you’re new to the world of the Silhouette, don’t despair! Here are a bunch of blog posts that can walk you through some step-by-step instructions on heat transfer, fabric interfacing, fabric paint, sketch pens and vinyl.

Here’s wishing you luck that you will be able to welcome a Cameo into your home! Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow for Mid Week Mojo and a sketch provided to us by Design Team member Regina Mangum.

Crate Paper Little Boy Blue | Monday Card Madness #98

Today’s steal, The Crate Paper Little Boy Blue collection, couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I have a few friends whose babies are about to make their grand appearance into the world, so it’s time to make some cards! I love this particular collection because it’s perfect for baby-related things without being traditional “baby.” That scores some pretty big bonus points in the design world.

I decided to base the design of the card off one of the cut-out cards from the “Oliver” sheet of paper. It’s such a fun sheet to design with as there are so many different directions your card can take from simply choosing a different “card.”

I liked the bold red and the “congratulations” of this particular card.

I put one of the diecut wooden pieces to use on this card.

There are so many fun dimensional designs in the Little Boy Blue collection that I replaced the “cards” on these two creations with some of the stand out embellishments.

And last but not least, I had fun making a card using this collection that is completely 100% non-baby related!

Hooray for versatile collections!

And hooray for what you girls have been creating using the Monday Card Madness sketches. Keep it up!

For those of you that don’t know already, we love to give things away here at ScrapbookSteals.com!

American Crafts Shoreline Collection

If I lived near the ocean I’d be spending the last weekend before school starts lounging at the beach and soaking up sunshine! But Utah is landlocked and our infamous Great Salt Lake beach makes me gag (it smells that bad), so I live vicariously through the summery designs of today’s steal, the American Crafts Shoreline collection. Today, design team member and fellow Utahn Kerys Sharrock shows us just how fun and fresh of a collection Shoreline is, whether you are blessed with glorious beaches or simply daydream about them.

So this is my second DT post—and yet again, I have an awesome collection to work with! This time I was given American Crafts Shoreline collection. Lots of bright, fun colors and patterns, along with some fab embellishments and thickers. This is a definite must for anyone wanting to scrap summer photos!

My first layout uses a photo of my daughter ‘chilling out’ last summer. I used all of the blues in the collection, mixing and matching patterns and embellishments. This really would work for a boy photo too! I also switched up some of the buttons on the rosettes and slimmed down the pinwheel to fit the papers. They are all held together with pop dots, so this is super easy to do.

I then decided these papers would be perfect for some ‘sprinkler’ photos. The colored papers matched the colors in my photos perfectly. I fussy cut the scalloped border following the pattern of one of the papers, added some twine and embellishments, and topped it off with the AC thickers.

Also, I’d like to say a big thank you to Jen for her sketch! (This is Pearl #4a.)

Next, I was inspired by a card where they used the negatives from cut outs. I decided to cut out the words “I <3 summer” on my cricut and then back them with the different colored and patterned paper. I love how this turned out. I added a few more embellishments and a rosette and a bit of stitching. I think this is one of my favorites cards I’ve made so far!

And lastly, because I feel the need to create something other than just a card and layout, I made a summer word book! I used a cutting file from The Cutting Cafe, cut out papers and chipboard, and stuck it all together. I found some scraps of ribbons that matched the colors, added fun embellishments, and now it’s ready and waiting to be filled with this summer’s photos.

So, as you can see, the possibilities with the American Crafts Shoreline collection are endless! I hope I’ve inspired you all to hit that steal button and grab a collection. Thanks Brittany and Kristy for another awesome collection! Happy scrapping!
