ScrapbookSteals Design Team—Announcing Cyndee Kawa

We are SO excited to be announcing the first member of the Design Team. Cyndee Kawa has been a part of our wonderful community for months and has brought such a valuable outlook on preserving family memories to our community members. Join us tonight in getting to know Cyndee—the Princess of PM—as we embark upon her spring term as ScrapbookSteals Design Team Member.

Some people scrapbook because they enjoy the process, the beautiful embellishments, the smell of the paper, the craftiness of it—and I do love all of that, but for me, it’s more about the memories.

I started taking photos (with my brownie camera) and putting them in albums when I was about 5 years old. During college, I added themed die cuts and stickers. When pregnant with my first child, I added pretty papers. My style has changed immensely since those days of black papered albums and scotch tape, but two things remain the same: photos and journaling are always included!

Now, with two sweet children, a wonderful husband and a full-time job, I love to capture the silly, funny, (annoying), boring, and crazy things that happen in our house—the everyday moments that are too easily forgotten, so that 20 years from now my son won’t need to ask “Mom, what was I doing sitting in that box?” And yes, I’m “that Mom” that takes a photo and then helps her child clean up the (humorous) mess they just made.

My downfall is the big events—too many pictures! Instead of scrapping them all, you’ll find me making one of the “drop in the photos and add journaling” digital photo books and having it printed. It’s easy and then it’s done! Hopefully I’ll get back to capturing a few of the most favorite moments from that trip or birthday, with its own scrapbook page, but considering that I still have photos from 2008 to scrapbook, we’ll see if that ever happens. 😉

In January 2010, I stumbled across on Facebook and my scrappy stash quickly grew! But the best part was the online community of crafty women I found (many of whom I now calls friends!), and the inspiration they all provided. Then in July 2010, I was excited to participate in the Mid-Week Mojo sketches that Kristy Lee started. I’ve completed at least one sketch for every single week and have truly grown as a scrapbooker (and have the full albums to prove it).

Thanks to Kristy and all the Guest Sketchers, there’s been an amazing amount of inspiration provided, so when the amazing Kristy proposed this idea of me being the first ScrapbookSteals Design Team member, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I asked her more than once “Are you SURE?” Here’s hoping that she doesn’t regret choosing me! :)

My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found 2 Sunshine | Monday Card Madness #81

I think today’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found 2 Sunshine Collection is just what we need to warm up a chilly spring. The soothing golden and yellow tones with a sprinkling of sage are sure to be the perfect match for many paper crafting projects. Another love about this collection is the music papers. Given that I live with two band geeks those papers have already been reserved for use! Whether it’s for scrapbooking their performance photos or for their practice needs is yet to be determined.

What has been determined is that the Sunshine collection was a delight to create cards with!

The sparkly embellishments in this collection were the inspiration for my card creations along with my current love of banners. The prints on the papers of this collection are such that just a little addition of embellishments make for perfect cards.

One more favorite about My Mind’s Eye? It smells the best. Scrapbook nerd alert. I know. :)

We have loved seeing your Monday Card Madness creations posted on our Facebook Fan Page. Be sure to share your creations for your chance to be the winner of the April Monday Card Madness drawing. All you need to do is be sure to have any of this month’s Monday Card Madness creations posted somewhere online and linked to one of the Monday Card Madness postings by May 4th at 11:59 PM in order to be eligible for your chance to win.

If you’re looking for further inspirational ideas on My Mind’s Eye projects be sure to check out their Facebook Fan Page as well. Stop by and tell them that says hi!

Just a heads up! Be sure to stop by the blog at 9PM MST TONIGHT for a very exciting announcement and new addition to the Blog lineup! (Can you say design team!)

My Mind’s Eye Kraft Funday Happy Days

For those of you that were swooning when we featured the Kraft Funday Everyday Fun kit by My Mind’s Eye, but were secretly hoping and waiting for the Kraft Funday Happy Days Collection, today is your lucky day! Today we are honored to be featuring designs from the My Mind’s Eye Design Team showing us just how fantastic that little splash of color combined with kraft can be.

Fun, fresh, and freakin’ fantastic describe this layout by Amber Packer. I love how perfectly the ticket stub border goes with the photos of her family trip to Disneyland. Add the stitching and the button clusters and I’m pretty sure that a happy day memory has been preserved to perfection.

Next up is Jana Eubank who shows us once again how fun the ticket stub border can be. I think I want to do something nice for Jana just so I can be the recipient of one of her amazing cards!

And if that weren’t enough to make you go wild over this collection check out the fun ornaments she made using Happy Days.

I have to hand it to the My Mind’s Eye designers. The circle garland that Tamara Jensen used on this stunning layout makes me want to pretty much set the kids in front of the TV on a continuous loop of cartoons or maybe even be nice and whip out the lincoln logs and bust out my crafty supplies.

And lastly we are treated with a simple yet stunning card by Anam Stubbington. I love a collection that makes creating something so gorgeous such a breeze! In short I love My Mind’s Eye. <3
