American Crafts, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook | Monday Card Madness #82

It’s that time of year where the shoes come off and the flip flops reign. That feeling of complete footy freedom is exactly the feeling that today’s steal, the American Crafts, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Collection instills on my crafty heart. Whimsical, fun, slightly 70s and fancy free! Makes me wanna throw on my long boho chic dress and go running with my flip flops through fields of flowers as if I had not a care in the world. Or I could use the papers to pretend that life were always that simple. Seems like a good trade for me! :)

What is simple however, is how easily the Sketchbook collection made putting together the cards for this week’s Monday Card Madness.

I love the embellishments in this collection. I kind of think that I have an embellishment addiction. Seems like I say the same thing every week, but it’s true! Embellishments make me happy. Don’t you just love how the 3D floral embellishments and the satin brads really finish off these cards?

The worst part about making these cards was find the other pack of really cute embellies buried on my desk after I’d cleaned up! :)

Guess I’ll have to put this collection to work making a layout about my biggie girlies or even myself! Such a let loose, uninhibited collection!

Now I think it may be time to host another cards swap here at ScrapbookSteals. What do you say? Post here and give me a thumbs up if you’d like to play and if there is enough interest, we’ll get the ball rolling.

Check in tomorrow for another awesome manufacturer blog posting, Wednesday for the beginning of our Turquoise gem series of Mid Week Mojo and this month’s amazing guest sketcher, Friday for a pretty swell guest blogger as well as Friday night for our online crop to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day (details coming soon)!

Yup. It’s a fun week for sure!

Take care and scrap happy! <3

My Mind’s Eye 6×6 Paper Pads

Good evening scrappy peeps! We are so excited to be bringing you a the first official assignment from our Design Team member Cyndee Kawa using tonight’s steal, the My Mind’s Eye 6×6 Paper Pads.

Hello and welcome to the first ever ScrapbookSteals Design Team blog post! I was so shocked and surprised when Kristy Lee asked me to be the first member of the Design Team, and WOW do I feel honored!

Once I got over my initial shock, Brittany and I got to talking about what I could work with. And she said the magic words “My Mind’s Eye” – seriously one of my favorite companies and love the smell and weight of their papers. So, without further ado, here’s what I created with the My Mind’s Eye 6×6 Paper Pads:

I love that the My Mind’s Eye 6×6 pads are so versatile and those super cute mini versions of the prints are great for smaller projects. And in case you can’t bear to have only 1 sheet of a print, the pad comes with 2 of each!

First I wanted to create a layout highlighting a number of the sweet patterns available in the Fine & Dandy Girl paper pad. There’s such a variety and they coordinate so perfectly. Just because this is a 12×12 layout, that doesn’t mean you can’t use a 6×6 pad, and still have it look like a bigger sheet of paper! Instead of having the strips of patterned paper go behind the photo, they end right under the edges. And that turquoise chevron paper at the bottom – can you spot where I covered up the edges meeting? Gotta love some well-placed embellishments!

6×6 pads are always perfect for adding embellishments to a layout – they’re already a smaller scale print, so they won’t overwhelm and are totally suited to add that extra little something.

Since I have a tendency to be a little behind in scrapping my photos (can you say 2008?), I thought it might be a good idea to have somewhere to journal about the photos – as soon as I take them. Then there’s no need to wrack my brains trying to remember the little details when I get around to making a layout – next week or next year.

I had picked up some plain 4×6 lined notebooks at a big box store and the 6×6 papers were perfectly sized to alter them. I had a cute little journal in no time! I didn’t over- embellish, since this will probably get tossed in my purse or in my camera bag – ready to journal the funny/crazy things my kids say or document the details for the next set of photos taken.

The Fine & Dandy girl collection screams of my little girl, with the sweet combination of pink and brown patterns. Since we plan on painting her room this summer, I thought a little bit of wall decor would be a great way to get the decorating started!

Using my Silhouette, I planned and cut out the letters and pennants. The smaller scaled patterns lend themselves to making smaller cuts, which was perfect for this 8×8 shadow box. With the addition of some sparkle and bling, it’s now ready for her room!

And my final project, which was totally based on necessity… We *had* this magnet on our dishwasher that would prevent hubby and I from constantly asking each other “Are the dishes clean or dirty?” And now we have a cute replacement that matches the kitchen and that we don’t need to worry about knocking and breaking! It was super easy to make and just required some laminating…

Thank you for taking a look at all the fun I had using the My Mind’s Eye 6×6 paper pad! I hope you found some inspiration and enjoyed the first ScrapbookSteals Design Team post! Now go steal some 6×6 pads, if you haven’t already!

Cyndee! You totally rocked your spot on the team this month! LOVE your projects and I think I have a “clean/dirty” project in my future. The never ending dilemma in our home as well.

Now if you are wondering how to go about applying for the “Summer Term” of the ScrapbookSteals.com PM Power Design Team here is what you need to do.

  • Choose 5 of your favorite projects sized NO LARGER than 300K each. (We love to see a variety of projects showcasing what you can do!)
  • Provide a link to your scrappy related blog
  • Send info to kristy@stealnetwork.com by Monday, May 7th with PM POWER TEAM in the subject line. No late applications will be accepted.

My team and I will then select three members to make up the Summer PM Power Design Team which will run from June – August.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing the applications roll in. :)

October Afternoon Farmhouse | Mid Week Mojo

Amethyst – Layout 10

Today’s steal, Farmhouse by October Afternoon is nothing short of fresh and fancy free, like a lazy summer afternoon laying on your back watching the fluffy clouds for animal shapes. Now if you’re like me and those lazy afternoons in reality consist of chasing kids out of the flower beds, breaking up sibling fights and cleaning up a gallon of bubbles spilled in the entry way, then the mere opportunity to create with Farmhouse is the refreshing break that we all deserve.

I had so much fun working the the subtle springy hues of the Farmhouse collection. They paired perfectly with a photo of my sweet girly that recently broke her elbow.

The embellishments in this collection are so much fun! I wanted to keep adding and adding and adding!
