My Little Shoebox | Refrigerator Magnet Fun

I love when we have new manufacturers join our ScrapbookSteals lineup. We are so excited to welcome My Little Shoebox to our Steals family, and today’s choices, the Simple Life and Sunday Market collections certainly get our relationship with them off to a bang!

When I was contemplating what “off the page” type project to make with one of today’s steals I thought I’d consult with one of my crafty friends for a unique idea. Heather Conklin suggested that I make a magnet travel kit with the Simple Life collection. I took that idea and decided to make it into a refrigerator play set. Most of us with small children have discovered that our refrigerators turn into the trophy case of little people artwork, so why not turn it into a play zone too!

I wanted to turn an entire sheet of paper into the background to build a farm on, so I went to my local craft store and picked up a sheet of magnet paper which would work with my 12×12 paper.

I used spray adhesive and attached my 12×12 paper to the top of the sheet of magnet paper. I then used my rotary hand trimmer to cut off the extra.

With the remaining portion of magnet paper, I cut out elements from the paper collection which could be used to build a farm. I used my spray adhesive to adhere the sheep, tractors and trees to the magnet paper.

I then used my scissors and trimmed off the excess areas, inked the edges and then ended up with the play pieces.

I set up the farm on my refrigerator and was greeted by a very happy 4-year-old.

This collection even inspired me to stamp! That’s saying something. (Just promise not to laugh at my novice stamping skills). :)

Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday for another week filled with inspiration!
