How To’sday | (Scrap) Book Card by Elizabeth Martinez

We all have them — scraps! I love learning of new ways to use them up. Elizabeth Martinez has a great tutorial today to show how to put some of those scraps to great use.

First off, I would like to say that becoming part of the ScrapbookSteal’s family is one the best things that has happened to me. I’m very blessed to have made many new friendships because of ScrapbookSteals.  The friendships I have made are very supportive, encouraging and kind and I love them all. I will treasure these friendships always.

Here is a fun project which I recently made during National Scrapbooking Weekend.

(Scrap) Book Card

Designer Paper Cardstock

2 1/4  x  5                 spine                   5 x 8
3 3/4  x  2 1/4        page 1                 4  x  2 1/2
4  x  3 1/4                 page 2                 4 1/4  x  3 1/2
4 3/4  x  3 1/2        page 3                 5  x  3 3/4
5 3/4  x  4 3/4        page 4                 6  x 5
- with cardstock “spine” paper fold the 8″ length in 1/2 and 1/2 and 1/2 making it into an accordion.
- score spine designer paper at 1″ and 1 1/4″
- glue designer paper on outside of accordion spine and glue each cardstock page onto each accordion fold.
- embellish as desired
- great for quick gifts and a great way to use up your scrap paper

Cosmo Cricket Mega Packs | Monday Card Madness #45

If today’s steal, the Cosmo Cricket Mega Packs aren’t the perfect smorgasbord of papers to play with, I don’t know what is! The folks at Cosmo Cricket certainly know how to create a print and design to tickle the taste of every scrapper, and the best part of today’s steals … you get a little sampling of so many different collections without committing to the entire line!

I had a great time creating cards for this week with the Cosmo Cricket papers. My design tended to evolve from one card to the next, but this is the general idea for this weeks sketch. (Feel free to choose from the variety of cards to base your design off of. ;) )

I started with the boyish collections and created these two cards.

Next I made a few cards with the girl-ish collections.

Now if you have missed out on our challenge this year to send out joy, you should jump in on the fun! Don’t let those beautiful cards you create sit around collecting dust. Throw a stamp on an envelope and send it to someone to brighten their day. I know it’s been so much fun for me being able to surprise some of our ScrapbookSteals fans with a little happy mail.

Also don’t forget to keep posting your Monday Card Madness creations to our Facebook fan page or your own personal blog.  Leave a link here on our blog for the August cards by Friday September 2nd at 11:59pm MST in order to be eligible for our monthly drawing.

One more thing, if you get so busy scrapping up a card storm and don’t know what to do with all of those extras, (after sending out joy of course ;) ), then you should participate in our current ScrapbookSteals card swap. If you’ve missed the details, here they are:

  • Create 10 cards. They can all be the same or each can be different.
  • All cards must include an envelope.
  • Cards must be received to the ScrapbookSteals warehouse by August 31st. (ScrapbookSteals, Attn: Card Swap, 2181 California, #400, SLC, UT  84104)
  • Once your cards have been sent in the mail, please send me an email to kristy@stealnetwork.com, to let me know that I need to be on the lookout for your amazing creations. I will then randomly re-distribute the cards and mail back 10 different cards to each participant.

Kiwi Lane Designs = Framing Bliss!

I sort of wish it were me heading back to school next week so that I could head to English class and learn vocabulary that could express my love for today’s steal from Kiwi Lane Designs. I have not had so much fun or been so inspired to keep creating layouts in a very long time. I attribute it wholeheartedly to the whimsical designs and creative freedom which using the framing templates from Kiwi Lane Designs provides.

If you missed out on my cards from Monday, I was able to use the card templates which are being offered today as a steal. I put a slight twist on the sketch which was provided with the packaging and came up with these cards.

Of course I had to create one project with each of the sets being offered today. With the Wildflower Combo, I made this fun summer layout. I’ve always been so in love with flowing cascades cut from paper but never in my life imagined it would be so easy to create them and have them look perfect! No more free handing hoping that things will look right in the end.

I love the big floral templates, and of course what is not to love about brackets! No more having to lug around a big electronic die cutting machine to crops. The Kiwi Lane Designs templates are compact and easy to just toss into your crop bag.

Next I created a layout with the Playtime Combo templates.

I love circles. I love how easy it was to cut out a circle to frame my photo and the 12″ borders in this set are so fun for anything from children to travels. The shapes set included in this set were also the perfect elements to finish of my layout about my little boy and wondering what he dreams about. Could it be superheroes, or playing cars? (Really, I’m sure they’re all about what kind of trouble he can get in to!)

Lastly I created a layout using the 8″ Mini Combo templates. I completely owe the fact that this is my favorite layout that I’ve made in a very long time either to the subject matter (handsome husband!), or to the templates. Maybe a little of both.

To create this layout I simply took the templates, cut out random shapes in varying patterns, trimmed some so they weren’t quite 8″ and then layered them until I found a framing for my photo which was visually pleasing.

I seriously cannot say enough good about Kiwi Lane Designs and their product. Now if I turn up missing, you’ll know where to find me. I’ll be in my craft room framing it up!

Pebbles Ever After | Mid Week Mojo

Ahhh, I love Wednesdays. I love them even more when we have such a great product like today’s steal, the Pebbles Ever After collection. It just doesn’t get any better when you add the fact that we have a very talented guest sketcher today, Kristy MacKeen!

Wow, I can’t believe I am here, about to give you the Topaz 3 sketch!!!  Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojos have been a primary source of inspiration for my scrapbook pages. I hadn’t even scrapped a page until the MWMs started. When Kristy asked me if I would be a guest designer, I was sitting in my grandparents’ living room and I think they thought I had lost my mind because I was giggling so much. ::somebody pinch me:: It is a lot of pressure to live up to Kristy’s wonderful sketches and all the other great guest designers. I hope I was able to do that.

When she sent me a picture of what I would be working with and I was so excited. And then I got the Pebbles, Inc. Ever After in my hot little hands, I was even more excited. The colors are so pretty and I love the textures and glitter on the pages (yes, the glitter sticks). I started looking through the pictures and realized I didn’t have any “princess” or “prince” pictures, so I set out to shoot some. Of course, my favorite subjects wouldn’t cooperate with what I originally had in mind. Then I realized I had just purchased Hailey’s first magic wand, so I knew what I had to do…

When I see a magic wand, I immediately think of Cinderella and the saying Bippity, Boppity, Bo!

So, Bippity, Boppity, Bo!  Here is my layout.

When Kristy told me this was a fully packed kit, she was right!  The gems, enamel and layered stickers add a lot of fun to a layout.

The flower brads are so pretty and have a sparkle to them.  And they fit in a scrapbook without a problem.

I also thought of all those cute little boys we have in the ScrapbookSteals family, so I immediately wanted to show that this kit can be used for a boy layout as well.

I have always seen these cute little hat pins that come with kits.  I was so happy to get a chance to use some:

One great little bonus of the Pebbles paper is the little tears offs at the bottom of each page.  One side has the paper name, and the other side has a complete strip of patterned paper.  No waste!

I hope you like this kit as much as I did. I can’t wait to see what you create with this layout. Just be sure to have a lot of fun. That is what it is all about!

Kristy, all I can say is WOW. You rocked it girl! Thank you SO much for sharing your talents with us. It’s been such a delight to see you grow over the past year with your layouts. You’re one talented lady, that’s for sure!
